      Good question! Martin, thanks for asking, I will leave this one about a week to completely dry, do not use any extra heat to speed this up, never put near a radiator or use a hairdryer, just leave to dry naturally (which in the cold damp British climate takes a while) Once completely dry, wrap in tissue paper and store in a vertical folder (never store flat) Glad you enjoyed the demo.

    Dan what.a superb technique very beautiful and very little investment thank you so much for showing. Let me tell you a little bit about me and where I am in my trip as a naive artist. By the way if I am bugging you I will understand no or short response. So I am a 78 naive artist, changing my style from abstract expressionism to minimalism, less is more type. The people I have been studying Cy Twombly, Bridget Riley, Brice Marden, Miro, last years of Braque Matisse Le corcusiere, you get the idea. But the change is not coming along very well. After watching your process: I thought this technique is superb to create Monos. But here is the main question: can it be used to create plates that can be passed through a press? That is other wise to make the transfers on to paper can it be cooper, steel, aluminium, lino. I would make the mono using 3 plates plate1, the multi colors, plate 2 the blacks, 3 the white or off whites. A question on the technique what look like thin plastique to transfer the colors, looks very resistance takes lots of abuse: what type is it. Dan thank you for reopening my path to abstract expressionism and for the time you impart to my questions. Kindest regards emile michel.

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you, I try my best to respond to all the comments and feedback that I get. I think if someone takes time to ask a question or make a positive comment about the videos it is important to take time to reply. With all of my videos I really want to provide inspiration and encourage anyone, regardless of their ability to just have a go, it is important that they don't need to work with anything too expensive or complex, I want viewers to try out the techniques with what they could find around them or encourage them to recycle waste products when possible, I wanted to try and bring art techniques that seem out of reach. I don't have access to a printing press at the moment but I am sure that the techniques I experiment with could be improved with some additions. I get many comments from those who have tried out these techniques and it has had a very positive outcome for many and sent them off on their various creative journeys. The plastic you see me use is just a recycled plastic bag. Hope this reply is OK, and i wish you luck with all your creative efforts.

      Thank you very much for taking the time to write. I am very impressed by the superb art pieces your technique, at least in your case, can create. As I said in my comment I am trying to find minimalism style, however your technique and your examples have opened a new door to abstract expressionism and I am going to go through it. Thank you so much. I like your compositions especially the middle one of the 3 BW vedio. your approach to controlling the negative space is remarkable. Regards emile michel.

      They are just very thin plastic, try bin liners or carrier bags.

      Check description This is oil paint, all colours are listed in the description. You can work with acrylic paint but it's difficult because it dries too fast.

    I take it you are using oil paint. I use acrylic which fries so fast!
