Traveling= discomfort. You did well, covered a ton of distance, and was able to get home via purple line which was a plus. I'm jelly!
I do 100 mile day trips and plan my route the day before with the Trailforks app,it has a good basemap. I write the route down on a piece of brown paper bag turn by turn. I link many bike trails into my loop and always include a few miles of dirt roads 🚲
nice ride dude. i owkr right accross from the newburyport station. check the bay circut trail . you can do the minerman bikeway and then head north and get to the bay circuit and get to newburyport. great trails through the north shore mass. that was a sick ride to pawtuckaway from dorchester . nice job!
Great video man!
We will be doing a 2 day trip following some of the trails you provided, i might do a video on it keep pedaling
Don't feel bad, you have ridden a good ride with little training....on your next big ride build up your mileage before you do your main ride.....back to back 50 to 70 miles days will make a 100 plus mile day easier....your muscles, joints, main contact points and your stomach will be more prepared plus you will learn what to eat so your energy levels won't drop so much......look for a local randonneur club and ride their 100km to 200 km rides.....this will make your long tour rides more comfortable too....
I feel like I need to do this this weekend!
I live in the same town, Dorchester. Maybe I copy your ride!!
Bike shop help you out like that you need to be much more specific about the shop and where they are, lots of us would go out of our way to shop the, support for stepping up,like that ✊
The crank-arm problem is lack of maintenance. All that should have been checked out immediately before starting, and likely sooner.
Very cool video man. We should get a bikepacking ride in together one day. I live in NYC. Would be cool to plan something. Keep pedaling.
Hey Cody, What is the name for your route on Ride with GPS?
Your ride looked like a fun one. I might want to give it a try some day. I like what you said about getting off the beaten path and seeing more when you slow down. I've just started "adventure riding " in the past two years. You'll find that the miles will come as your endurance increases. Nutrition is so important, Eat often... drink lots of h2o. no, lots! I like to add nuun tablets in my water bottles too. Dress appropriately. "Start cold" You'll warm up!
There is a lot of entertaining information available on the GCN (Global Cycling Network) on CZcams regarding these topics.
Please keep making videos. I really enjoyed this one. I know some day you'll look back and see how far you have gone. Keep riding. Tim
Great video! Have the same SRAM crankset and the same issue, it is a well known issue and will probs keep happening.
Thanks for watching, Phil! And thanks for the info. I think I'm gonna have to look into replacing that crankset. It's a pretty critical issue to continue having on long rides like this.
How do you like the rear luggage rack? What brand/model is it?
Is bike allowed on commuter rail?
Yes, but not all pick up times. If you look at the online/app schedules it'll show a bike at the top of the schedule on pick ups if allowed.
Diabetics...sweating, feeling like shit. 4 bars was not enough sugar.
Century ride requires liters of sugar water, carbs. No drugs (caffeine)
Duly noted! Do you have any recommendations for literature on this subject?
