I hope you won't take down this video in the next few days :(
Funny how the elites and Hollywood gave this film so much praise and awards yet they don't have the self awareness to realize that this film is to an extent about them
Hollywood got The DSP Syndrome.
@@noespam2434 Oh no, you're mistaken.
They do have the talent to produce quality films.
But since they're bigots, istaphobes and Trump supporters, they had to go.
Whatever that meant.
And now, they're getting what they deserve for their auto destruction.
If you believe that, then you don't understand how the so called "elite" think. Alan Watt from Cutting through the Matrix had a good handle on their thought processes. If you listen to when Alan spoke about the book, Tragedy and Hope: The History of the World in our Time - Dr. Carroll Quigley and why they allowed it to be published, you will begin to understand the hubris, the ego of these people.
They only understood half of it, only seeing the poor ones as parasites
Maybe a bit of Dupers Delight?
One big detail in this film is that when the rich mother and poor father drive home from the grocery store, the father overheard the mother say that the rain (the same rain that flooded and destroyed the Kim’s family’s home) was a blessing because it cleared the grass or something of that sort. An eye-opening thing in regards to people of the higher class becoming blind to the harsh realities the lower class face.
I mean you can't blame them. Put yourself in the shoes of the rich people and tell me if you'd give any kind of shit about the lower class or would be busy enjoying your life
@@fatstogieyes, I would give a shit, and I do. Your attitude is one that need to be completely eradicated.

Surely there’s a deeper meaning behind the daughter, who would’ve been their best chance at buying the house because of her skills, personality, and intelligence, being killed by someone of the same class. Perhaps a reflection of low income neighborhoods essentially cannibalizing themselves stopping each other from truly succeeding
This. China is a great example of what you're talking about. It's so very hostile.

I'm in my mid 50's and have worked since I was 16 and I've realized last year that all I have to show for it is 2 divorces and no kids, stuck doing a boring job just so that I can pay for a house and little trinkets to try and make me happy.
Now I've decided to do something totally opposite my comfort zone, I always played safe, never taken a risk in the advent that I could loose all my stuff.
I've put up my house for sale and with the sale I'll buy a small RV and take the road.
By doing so I'm also selling 90% of the ''stuff'' that's holding me back to go on this adventure and doing it alone.
2 years ago I became sober and my thoughts have never been so clear, it has led me to this realization that I need to do this for my sanity and my health I need to get off the day to day grind of working for a big corporation and getting peanuts in return.
I plan to drive through only small towns, do odd job here and there from time to time but mainly just drive, meet new people along the way and live life while I still can.
Yes, I may fail miserably but I got to try, I must do this, I want to live!!
This sounds absolutely riveting. Best of luck on your journey!!

That scene when he is continuing to make the boxes while the suffocating gas hits him. It signifies his reluctance to be defeated amidst circumstances. A hardened person who has faced many obstacles before. It could also signify his stubbornness to accept reality. What do y'all think that scene meant to depict? That he was just a dumb dude? I think it goes deeper than that.
I agree, it says a lot about him, personaly I thought it showed how the working class have to labour no matter how bad the conditions got....and later they have to accept lower payments for the pizza boxes since so many were ruined (probably by continuing to work during fumigation).
It's a real catch 22. You MUST work no matter how bad the conditions, but then get punished for lower work caused by the conditions....
@andreaslind6338 wow, that was eye opening. Thank you for sharing. Makes logical sense to make such an inference
@@Ramenko1 my pleasure.
I mean taking the parasite idea further, the lack of investment and pig sty they live in, could be another way the rich keep that arbitrary line up. It’s not like any diseases or cancers they get from gasses like that would be blamed on the rich, and yet a more sinister view could be that no one of influence cares about the noxious gasses because if it shrinks some of that population.. 🤷♂️
its not showing his stubbornness to accept reality. life had him so hard boiled that he simply sees the smoke as a welcome to kill 2 birds with one stone. getting the cartons ready asap, while also getting a change of ridding their place from the pesky bugs without having to pay a cent for it.

I worked alongside very rich people for a few years. It was a real wakeup call. Yes, there is absolutely a line and they love to remind everyone which side they are on. I was in a awkward position as I wasn't poor, so they treated me and other consultants in a very strange manner; the best way to explain it was that they pretended to regard us in the same class as them but it was clear they didn't actually feel that way. These people were making millions per month while we paid the equivalent of about 200-250k/yr. They would pretend to care about our investment decisions or other subject they clearly didn't give two craps about our opinions. I wish I paint a better picture because I'm not doing the strangeness of their lifestyle any justice at all.
But the thing is why do you want to be a so damn rich like having a good income like yours and a house would just be enough
I have a question; does one of these small behaviors involve looking past you and selective attention? Case in point: one day I was invited to play pickle ball with some friends, some of which included an affluent family. One of them asked for the time, which I gave. He didn’t even blink, but asked the same question again to his affluent friend as if I weren’t even there. I thought it bizarre behavior
I first watched Parasite on a long haul flight, and it turned out it was totally censored down to a comedy or kids film. I need to watch the full version.

The unfortunate truth is that our reality isn’t one of fairness and justice. But we are told lies from birth that life is. We are told that the rich and elite worked hard to get where they are, and when we mature enough to realize the truth, well it’s already too late. We’re now tired and depressed teens/young adults who don’t have the energy to stop obeying. If we stop being subservient, then we will die because we’re barely living paycheck to paycheck. We can’t afford to stop working to fight back.
Yes, Alan Watt from Cutting through the Matrix warned that it's a class problem, and all the classes are trained to not associate with each other. He also said that it's the human nature to not do anything until it's too late, and everyone is so weak from not having the essentials to thrive in life (clean food, air, environment, sleep/rest). They no longer have the critical thinking skills needed nor the mental energy and physical strength.
@@trishgreen2892 It is more a liberal problem. Liberalism ideologies banned all ideologies that can fight against it in the Western world, so they can't hold the elite accountable. Not only that but weakening the community with unlimited amount of immigration, and using them as an a battering ram against the White community has proved a very good political strategy.
@@trishgreen2892Spoiler alert: Its not THAT hard, kinda the point 😛
We're being fed lies from the table cloth.
This is the main issue the reliance on the system, and I will agree that most are simply stuck. (Well at least in their ability to deal with the uncomfortableness of the process of getting off the metaphorical teet.)
However it is not impossible, the access to knowledge that exists is already leading to positive changes in this regard that is simply on such a small scale it is hard to see it as a whole. People just need to grow comfortable sacrificing the convenience of Modern Society.
This was always the trade off that was going to happen because one who relies on another will always be the lesser. And we as a whole decided to rely on the ultra wealthy and those with political power. We gave them our subservience long ago. At the end of the day no one has the ability to change Human nature as a whole, and the idyllic society where we can rely on the few for the needs of the many without this stratification will never come to pass.
Edit: And no I am not referring to Communism, it is simple another with the reliance problem. I mean at the end of the day it may simply be the default state of Human society. Too many sheep and not enough wolves.
I watched this movie and understood it but when you mentioned how they only attacked each other and not the rich made me open my eyes more from that movie that I didn’t notice well done

@@stellviahohenheim Or maybe the "nobody" just meant not enough people. So this video is an outlier.
@@DoubleBobsurely you can't think he was being literal, that's obtuse.
Asia is not a single country. There are many peoples, cultures and traditions with different languages. I think the reason Western people often treat Asia as if it is one country is ignorance of Asia.
This video reminded me of the book i'm currently reading "The Unfair Advantage", the point is basically success is not only hard work, luck also has a huge impact on your chances of success, most people can't become financially free because they have the odds stacked against them, whether it's poverty, lack of education, or simply being born in the wrong place, life is just unfair.
How could life be made fair? Of course it is "unfair". What you mean by "fairness" is for you to completely control the world.
As an observer of human behavior, I am wondering how this movie affected South Korean people. So, I did a brief search and came upon The Guardian article, Parasite: how Oscar triumph has exposed South Korea’s social divide, which apart from the last paragraph person's interview, seems to only reiterate the unfortunate attitudes of both wealthy and poor found in the movie itself.
As an observer of human behaviour as well, human greed knows no bounds. Human stupidity is also on that spectrum. A conscious is the only thing that would fix both problems but few people have one of those.
Just watch their soap operas this behaviour have been going on in Korean society forever
@@stellviahohenheim I do, but even though TV and movies are based upon real life, it's not real life and just like Americans, for instance, do not like to be judged on a Hollywood movie about criminals and have everyone in the world generalize and say, "All Americans must be criminals", I am sure South Koreans would resent that implication, even though it's true for a certain segment of their society.
Korea has a strong manufacturing base, so the Gini coefficient is lower than that of the United States, so the gap between the rich and the poor is not that severe. Even if a work that deals with the gap between the rich and the poor, such as Parasite and Squid Game, is released, it doesn't really have an impact on people.
There is not much of a visible gap between the rich and the poor, but if people think it is difficult to become middle class or higher, they are giving up on marriage and childbirth, resulting in the world's worst birth rate haha.
@@trishgreen2892 To explain further, Korea is said to have the most competition in the world, beacuse paradoxically since the gap between the upper class and the lower class is small, it creates the illusion that anyone can become the upper class. So there is a lot of competition, but you know, everyone cannot be in the upper class. So there are many people who think that if they can't become upper class, they should just think living alone is right instead of raising a family. Nowadays, people who get married and have babies in Korea are wealthy people.

This is a result of the lack of there being a meritocracy. In university you don’t really get somewhere through studying, passing, applying for jobs, getting the job, growing through the ranks. No, you need to be in clubs, within the clubs you use connections that are already there for generations, and just are cemented. These people are now in senior roles and are having something to say, to influence, but they were never even interested in the slightest in the subjects they studied.

There was only one parasite in this film and it was the human mindset. I remember watching it like 4 or so years ago and watching this video made me remember this.
The main reason why I believe that this was the parasite in the film is evident in all of the major characters in the story. Each of them have their own issues and selfish ambitions. If I was to highlight one major point it would be when they see the other house keeper as a parasite and lesser than them because she also found a way to sneak in... They were so antagonistic towards her and her husband but forgot that the only reason why they're there was because the son's friend handed down the job opportunity to him.
There's so much more I could highlight from this film alone but I just wanted to say my thoughts on what I believe the real parasite was/is.

These themes are also quite present in squid games. While a much stranger premise, it’s interesting to note and do further research on Korean society. While their themes are easy to connect to an American society, I wonder why their entertainment at least in these two mainstream pieces, cover these very similar themes. Makes me think the outside looking in facade they show of thriving in a more western style culture isn’t going as well maybe.

I been knowing this for the longest time. I just don’t bother explaining to people because they think I’m stupid.
The modern society describes us in history not by our great acts or achievements, but by the wealth we generate as an example for future generations to conserve the cycle.
This narrative that rich people are out of touch with reality isn’t completely accurate.
Some are using their wealth to help and work beside people of different backgrounds of finance.
While others choose to stay out of it.
Do I wish everyone to have an equal opportunity? Hell yes, but it isn’t realistic because someone is bound to be exploited.

As Moon said in the end we are all parasites on some degree
The most reasonable solution as always is facing the truth and better understand reality
If this exploitations and parasitic influences are how we operate with each other
I think the best thing we can do is acknowledge it and try to mitigate it
Like let's continue to exploit and parasite each other but let's set some rules and boundaries to ensure that the outcomes don't explode too widely and unpredictably
A cap on top and also raising the floor of this game kinda thing
that's pretty much symbiosis.
Parasites only take. Never providing anything in return. I don't think lower class people just take. The little they get they work for. You know who only takes for themselves. Elites. They consume at a massive scale. Everything they do is for their gain. That isn't enough for them either. They consume and take from the poor. While creating walls to wall in the masses.

If the family focused on things like ducation of their son and daughter they would have been in a way better position but they chose be the parasite .
One scene I think not a lot of people talk about is when during the start of the film the guy who knows the Parks (the rich ones) who is also a English tutor to the Park's daughter is planning to propose to her or get into a relationship with her although he is much older than her. And after the main character (the Kim boy) starts tutoring her HE GETS IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH HER. This is straight up creepy given the age gap. I don't know how much of a problem this is in South Korea , but this ‘problem' stood out to me. Also I wish they gave some kind of closure for the original tutor guy.
P.S. : I don't think the Parks would have ever allowed or would have agreed to the relationship ( w/ the original tutor guy or even the main character ) given that both of them are of a ‘class' lower that theirs.

They build this cult of personality around themselves to cultivate an air of hyper-competence, but the reality is that most of them really aren't that smart. Most of them are actually fairly easy to outmaneuver, because they have such an over-inflated sense of their own intelligence.

This is why you learn survival skills, hunting skinning farming gps making maps so that if everything else fails inside this terrible society you can leave and not be trapped inside dependent on it
“This film is about the rich and poor and about capitalism - and the U.S. is the heart of capitalism..."
- Bong Joon Ho
Bruh, this guy's videos make me wanna start a revolution, and overthrow the rich.
You already heard it's impossible with disunity among the poor
@@ankundamwebembezi6358 Disunity, and the fact that the rich can 100% afford to gun down as many people as it takes to protect their wealth.
well done bro. that was a proper interesting perspective
Damn Moon has been on one hell of a grind watching all the good movies!
At this point bro is taking every movie title out there and add's "tried to warn you" next to it
I'm waiting for Saturday Night Fever tried to warn you! 🤣
"The Minions movie tried to warn you!"
When everything tries to warn you, how to spot danger? :D
Surfshark VPN. It can smell danger in troubled waters from 1000 miles away.
Absolutely amazing analysis of the movie. I have followed the work of Director Bong Joon-ho
for some time and this is not even my favorite film of his, however, this movie is definitely his best picture. 👏
"Before you can change the world, you must change yourself. Before you can bring something greater to others, you must receive something greater yourself. Your ideas and your protests and your anger only add to the ideas, the protests and the anger of the world around you until there is a greater inspiration within you.
The future of the world will be dependent upon how many people can respond and follow the power of Knowledge within themselves. They will come from all walks of life. They will come from the slums and the middle class people and the wealthy. They will come from all cultures, from big cities, from small towns, from villages, from farmers and shepherds, from people living in far-flung places of the world."

Dam you got alot of subs quick! Congrats! idk why but I haven't been recommended your videos for awhile (we all know why) but I'm back and gonna binge.
I never thought this deeply about it this is why love CZcams
Children of men is an amazing example of classism and xenophobia at its peak. It is a bleak dystopian world that feels all too close to the classism in parasite and the problems we experience in the real world.
Embracing diversity has brought a sectarian crisis to the Western world worse then Yugoslavia I can't trust my neighbor he literally wants white people dead my black neighbor can't trust me you can't erase a 200 years of ethnic tension ever. Why would I build socialism with these people one of the guys I work with literally went out to the strip club leaving his children alone because he felt pent-up.
Xenophobia implemented at the highest level would have kept social cohesion high enough to continue to unionize and keep our jobs as it is now they can replace us with immigrants.
The sad part about this is the majority of the people I've known didn't get the message of this movie ... They've just said : "i loved the movie its amazing" beacuse during the hype everyone went with it , and then you ask so you get the message of the filme and they didn't get it, or : i hated that movie it was so boring .. They have functional illiteracy. And they refuse to acknowledge it . Its just sad, and the main reason why the poor will always struggle .

Moon is so good at his job and nice video man :]
You should do "they live" for your next film
Oh, definitely. Great film. :)
I'm not saying it's the aliens, but it's the aliens.
This video gives me more motivation to get wealthy.
As a Korean, my impression was that yes the movie revealed the unspoken, uncomfortable truth about current society but people seem to accept this harsh reality cynically rather than trying to make changes or looking for any other alternatives. A word called gagjadosaeng 각자도생(各自圖生) which means to ‘strive for self sufficiency in order to survive’ is in trend now because it precisely represents the current atmosphere of Korean society. The birth rate in Korea has dropped to almost zero, in fear of the quality of life of their offsprings’ being worse off than theirs. It’s sad but none of us know what to do about it 😢
