My take is journalism. What if this led back to another government influence driving discord in the US? It’s appropriate to investigate. I don’t think she needed to release the name however but clarifying that this isn’t a paid or specific operation is important.sadly it seems to be just the US continuing down the path of an increasingly divided and destroyed nation.

I disagree about the name. Releasing a name with the story for others to look into was necessary evidence to support the claim that the account was not being controlled or influenced by a government entity. And as Lorenz pointed out, all the info she released was stuff that is already publicly available by searching the name without going into detail. She did nothing more than her job as an investigative journalist.

As a Journalist she is the one apparently "looking into this" so since she found no evidence that this woman was backed or controlled by any government entity no "proof" was required. If for example the person running the site was say someone that worked on the Tucker Carlson show than it becomes more relevant.

I'm flying internationally to the US this year - 1 short international flight followed by an 11 hour flight. I'm going with 4 masks - 1 for the first airport through boarding for the long flight, 2 for the first half of the long flight, 3 for the second half, and the 4th after I disembark, before I head through immigration and meet my family. I know that masks are better at keeping your germs to yourself and less effective at preventing germs from maskless others getting to you. But I was rarely sick when masks and handsan was the norm. I evaded COVID until the mask mandates were dropped - and even then, I caught it from a close family member that had returned to "pre-pandmic life" and was relying on the vax to prevent it. I'm bringing handsan and antibac wipes for the planes, I'm wearing the masks until I get to the hotel, and I'm going straight into the shower at the hotel and changing clothes before I give my elderly parents a proper hug. My mom caught it a few months ago, my dad didn't - I'm not travelling thousands of miles to see them for the first time since this all started and risk killing my parents. And people can think I'm paranoid. Fuck, I'm claustrophobic, I hate wearing a mask, I'm like 'verge of a panic attack' bad wearing a mask. But I love my parents and I'm not willing to risk playing a part in this visit being my last.

As someone who takes the bus to work regularly I've noticed here in San Antonio that the busses no longer have the lower capacity limits and they are getting crowded to the point people are standing in the aisle again. I'm from Scotland. Our mask mandate ended on the 18th. I'm immunocompromised and pretty much all my friends have now had covid - I'll be honest I'm pretty worried, but greatful there's treatment for it now. Either way, I'm going to keep wearing a mask in indoor public places, not that I go there very often because of being super careful!

I am in Berlin assisting in getting aid to Ukraine (went to a city in western Ukraine two weeks ago), and the strikes in western Ukraine are certainly concerning. It poses a real risk to aid getting into Ukraine. I won't say the city we send to, but if it gets hit by missiles, it makes getting food, medicine, tarps, and other emergency supplies to Ukraine. If roads are damaged or drivers are at risk, it's very difficult to get humanitarian aid into Ukraine. Praying that strikes into western Ukraine remain VERY rare...

Right after my work and all the stores in my area lifted their mask mandates, I got Covid, and mind you, I was still wearing a mask. Literally this is the first time I have gotten covid during these past two years, and it sucks because I just started a new job and I don't have sick pay yet, but I am off work for two weeks and missing out on a full paycheck, and I have bills to pay. Since I am fully vaccinated and I have gotten a booster, my symptoms are very mild so that is good at least.

Regarding mask mandates being lifted: Even if they were lifted indefinitely, I'll probably still wear one in public spaces. Not just because of covid, but also because of the flu, & the general uncleanliness of my city. If I'm with friends/family, or outside on a not-so-nusy sidewalk, I'd take it off. Yet everywhere else? I think the mask will stay.
Even if things ever get better, I'm going to keep wearing a mask because it does wonders for my allergies. I have honestly never had such mild allergies as I have when I have a mask on. Turns out it keeps out allergens. Shocker, am I right?

All this TikTok account stuff makes me think of is the story John Oliver did last week. So much of our information is just out there and right now people have to defend their own privacy since corporations and the government are not. That said, there is a HUGE difference between doxxing someone and compromising their safety, and literally just a journalist doing the most basic of journalism work to back up sources.

My friend just lost his dad to covid & my family had all gotten over having covid a few weeks go, so it’s not like it just stopped existing.
The mask mandate was lifted awhile back here in Las Vegas too but I still wear a mask whenever I’m going somewhere with a lotta people personally.
I’ve never really minded the whole mask debacle anyway, aside from when I gotta wear my glasses so meh.

I'm one of those vulnerable disabled people who is absolutely terrified. My mom was supposed to come visit and provide respite care for my husband so he can get a break from caregiving duties but she may not be able to do that safely now.
I'm so hurt and angry about all of this. The more people make unsafe choices the more dangerous the world is for me. I already only leave my apartment for necessary medical appointments. We have to get our groceries delivered, which is expensive, and I can't see any friends unless they quarantine for a week and then get a PCR test.
I'm exhausted. I don't want to do this anymore. But the alternative for me would be guaranteed hospitalization from even a "minor" case of covid. I just can't take that risk.

To the mask mandate: I had a feeling this was gonna happen before summer. As an Uber driver I’m gonna continue to wear a mask for a while myself. Same with any other public transportation that I happen to take if I don’t happen drive; at least through the rest of the year.

In Australia, specifically my state (as each state has their different laws), face masks aren't required in most indoor settings but they're recommended. Basically if you're in a childcare centre, some schools, workers in some areas like food courts, law and order, big areas that allow more than 30k people etc. And also most public transport settings too, and if you're visiting health professionals, or being tested for COVID or someone around you has COVID (I think they've laxed that rule today tho). But I still wear my face mask in most settings, especially public transport. It sucks, yeah, but like, it's fine. And I'll also wear it in a lot of stores, sometimes I won't, but that's on me making the choice. Besides, I've gotten COVID before and it wasn't shopping (it was actually being at a mate's place lmfao).
We are actually way more likely to relax at a mates and catch it there than shopping. I get anxiety, so masks kinda help, yet if I'm actively in panic mode, I need it OFF! I am disabled so don't get out much, but masks are hot and itchy, so I'm very happy for the staff at Coles etc. But on PT, I'll wear one.
