Wisconsinite here, I've heard from multiple people that many restaurants in Milwaukee will be refusing service to anyone from the RNC. Some are deliberately closing down during that time. Pretty bold political statement, that's a lot of money to turn down. Gives me faith that WI will be blue in November.

Businesses started advertising that they would be closed the days they thought the RNC wanted to be at their establishment or rent it out. The RNC backed out of the reservations.
It’s truly happening folks - everything Trump touches dies - like the economy!

I live in Tennessee, and my governor just passed a "prayer and fasting" bill. I was furious this morning because there are too many things governors should be helping with, not deciding on when I should eat and pray. I'll do those things when I feel my body needs to eat because I have chronic conditions that make it hard to eat anyway, and when Jesus wants me to pray I will pray on my own time, which is basically all the time anyway. I love Jesus! And I DESPISE politicians passing religious bills!! That's not what America is about!!! I'm cautiously glad that WI seems to be getting their heads out of the sand. I just hope I can convince my family to believe me with these issues, since they're conservative but they're not evil and they're for democracy, they just think I'm paranoid and dramatic and naive, I guess since I'm not 30 years old yet and the youngest in my family... Sorry for the word salad, I'm just infuriated by bad politics and policies and had to vent.
The Democrats could nominate a rhododendron and I'd still vote Democrat. I'd rather have a potted plant in the White House than the Moscow plant the Republicans plan on nominating.

Norwegian onlooker here, it seems to me that the reaction after Biden not having the best debate night has been a bit over the top.
On one hand, I appreciate the ability and readiness of the Democrats to be realistic about the possibility of their candidate not being up to the task,
it is a stark and refreshing contrast to the cult behavior of the GQP.
But the near-hysteria after one off night for Biden was a tad surprising.

According to the letter released by President Biden's doctor, he has neuropathy in his feet. Neuropathy can make it difficult to move properly.

I grew up right after the Korean war, watched the Cuban missile crises play out, went into the army during the Vietnam war and I've never seen anything like what's going on now. My dad and my uncles fought in WW2 and I've been friends with a few WW2 vetrans and hearing what the germans did then and reading to newspapers my mom had saved from the war, we are at a tipping point right now. If we dont do away with the current expression of the nazi party now it will probably be to late to stop them. We need to win the presidency and the house and the Senate in this election so there can be accountability for those who would try to destroy our democracy.

The more ANY public figures, even comedians, even gently push the thought that they're not confident in Biden's ability to do the job, the more they help Trump, full stop. And even an incapacitated Joe Biden or heaven forbid a President Kamala Harris in the event of Joe's death is INFINITELY less dangerous to the entire planet, let alone the United States, than Trump getting back in office, even on climate change policies alone. This is not a typical election.

This isn’t about making fun of grandparents at the retirement home, this is about whether someone has the physical and mental capacity to perform the most stressful and mentally taxing job on the planet for four more years.
He's a comedian, he makes fun of everything, that's his job... He's not just punching down on old men, he's making jokes about the most powerful men in the world. And honestly I can imagine Joe Biden smiling and chuckling at some of Stephen's jokes, because he usually seems like a humble guy. If people can make fun of youngins, then I don't see a problem with old jokes especially if you're poking fun at political leaders. Remember, laughing helps keeps humans sane, and Colbert's jokes aren't hurting anyone vulnerable. We need laughter in these dark times. I'm fairly certain most Colbert viewers will be voting for Democrats anyway so I think it's not as big of a deal as you think it is.... But then again that's my own opinion.
