Simple Centre Console Upgrades For The Civic Type R EP3 4K

Olly makes the interior of his EP3 Type R feel far more modern with the install of a new Acuity Shift Knob, Suede Shift Boot, LED Dial Bulbs and a Hazard Light Bulb. Acuity were kind enough to send out their new Poco Insulated Gear Knob. Acuity claim that you will feel a 10-15% shorter feel when shifting between gears due to the countersunk design that allows the Gear Knob to sit much lower. That, paired with the Black suede with red stitching of the new shift boot, really updates the look and feel of the gear stick area on the Hot Hatch. Olly also realised that the bulb behind the Hazard switch was blown so he went to his local Honda dealership to pick up an OEM replacement. The orange lights behind the dials make the car feel dated and with a switch out to some LED bulbs and the removal of the tinted film on the back of the dial. This transforms the look of the dials and ties them in nicely to the double din head unit with Apple CarPlay.

I legit love you! Yours is the only channel I’ve ever found where you actually own an ep3, you take care of it, and everything you’ve done with it has stayed classy 👌 I’ve had mine since 2010, and up until recently, I couldn’t keep it covered. I’m in the southern part of the US where it’s mega hot and humid. I could cry seeing what the sun and moisture has done to my poor car. This was my childhood dream car and it was MINT when I bought it 😩 I’m going to do all of this to mine now that I have a carport. Please never stop uploading 🙌🏻

I just ordered the bulbs for mine as well they were only lighting about what yours was. As I use mine for delivering newspapers at night I really needed this so was a very helpful video appreciate it!!

Bit late i guess to comment onto the video, im wondering they way you were saying about the film piece in the knobs that change the led colour, im wondering if there is a film like that on the cluster/speedometer. I tried changing the bulbs to led but it would still light up red. Great youtuber!

I’ve changed my ac lights but they stopped working for some reason I’ve bought new led lights they’re still not working and I’ve tested the module and it’s perfectly fine
Very interesting. My heater control bulbs are currently out too. Haven't tried replacing them yet. Can you try your standard bulbs?

It is called Apple CarPlay and you just need a head unit (radio screen) that is compatible with it.
I’ve taken out the small bits of tint on the three bottom bulbs but they still seem to be green and amber , any help?
Are you talking about the lights above the symbols? If so, they are different to the bulbs that light up the icon. I have only changed the icon area, not the bulb colour to tell you it is on. Mine are also still green and amber. Hopefully this helps.
How you getting on with the acuity gear knob after a year of using it. Going to upgrade mine from stock looking at this or the we are like wise thicc boi. Happy new year mate keep up the good work 👍
I really like it. The only thing I have found weird is, when driving another EP3 now… it feels so wrong because every gear feels like it’s in a different position! Haha!

did you ever change the dash bulbs? I ordered from the same seller but they all don’t light up that well. they’re nothing like the ac lights, those are bright and amazing. might have to keep the oem lights on the dash :(
I never changed those ones as I like the OEM bulbs for the dash.
Do you know what bulbs are in there? What size? Is there any marking of bulbs you bought because if i order from this link shipping is crazy expensive. I have few other sites but i need to know sizes of bulbs because they don't have kits like this. Thank you
I am afraid that I don't know the answer to this as I just got the kit. The OEM Part number for the dial bulb is: 79609S5A003 and the button bulb is: 39397SA5003. Hopefully that helps
Hi man what's spec size on wheels and tyre specs?
The wheels are 17X8 ET45 with 5mm spacers in the front to clear the front brakes and 3mm in the rear to clear the rear trailing arm. ET35 would solve these issues.

what are your wheel specs?
17X8 ET45 but I have to run a 5mm spacer in the front to clear the DC5 Brembo callipers and a 3mm spacer in the rear to stop it hitting the rear trailing arm. 17X8 ET35 would be the perfect spec
Where’d you get the carbon fibre console from?
It’s just a hydrodipped carbon effect. I haven’t seen a real carbon one for sale for ages

Nah, it’s not that bad. I do have the double din Head Unit that is on when I drive anyway. That is what I am worried about with the dials though! Could be a bit too much! Maybe I will give it a go in the future
Sadly the speedometer doesn't get a good result with LED's, from what i've tried you get very bright spots and then not much illumination elsewhere.
