The man who had the long hair and told Arlene that his hair was natural lived in my town, Sunland-Tujunga California, located about 15 miles from the Rose Bowl. He was a tree surgeon. He died in 1971.
Dorothy was more glamorous looking (3:17-3:35; Aug. 12, 1956 episode, at 43) than I have ever seen her before, with her hair done in a much better style.
Loved it! There were quite a few I’ve never seen before. I have seen the one with the contestant from around 2:10 (I think she was a mayor of a Canadian city?) and I love that one every time 😂 You can also clearly hear Arlene laughing. But I think my all time favourite “normal” contestant will always be Edle Iverson, the Norwegian barber. She had so much fun and had the greatest laugh. You can’t help but laugh along with her (that’s from April 3rd, 1955 with Fred Astaire as MG). But as always, very well done, Teddy! I had a very good start to my day thanks to this video 😊
Oh, and also: thank you for adding the date of the episode! Videos like this often make me want to look up the episode and now we won’t have to bombard you with questions about which one that was 😊
@@tessar.9779 Thank you very much Tessa! Yes I add the dates if someone wants to check it. I know the girl you are talking about. I checked her for her "excuse me, that is a word I don't know" :D but I left her out as it wasn't exactly what I aimed to.
This was a great show ... You see it could not be duplicated today . Because the people they were on the show weekly . Were educated . Spoke good English . They also were funny . Something that's missing today.
I agree. And it was in the days when you could have gentle innocent fun with others and they didn't call you racist/homophobic/ mysoginistic or anything else. This was entertainment, simple as that.
@@teddytodorova Jul 29, 1956. Contestant: George Thorphe, line: 'exercise instructor in a ladies' reducing salon'. Look it up, it's hilarious. Arlene is in a very good mood.
Ah yes. #9 is Charlotte Whitton, former Mayor of Ottawa (capital of Canada). John asks her is it Mrs or Miss. "Oh, MISS! I've made enough mistakes!"

What's a tree surgeon?
1971 the same year that Bennett Cerf passed away.
@@mrh4742 A person who goes to the patient rather than they go to them. Trees get sick too. Ever heard of Dutch Elm disease?
Thanks for the info. about that man.
This show was good clean fun with professionals always courteous & entertaining. Love them all
I loved Fred Allen’s non sequitur questions.😂❤
Dorothy looks so beautiful in the thumbnail
It was main reason I clicked on
“It’s just been changed.” She burned William Shatner!
I can’t find the Shatner episode on CZcams, can anyone link it?
I love the way John Daly would give an appreciative hug to the guest, very nice.
"i just can't afford a hair cut." Hilarious!
I loved No. 9. She was funny! "I've made enough mistakes." 😂😂😂
That was Charlotte Whitten, the mayor of Ottawa--the capital city of Canada.
My favorite mystery guest was Rosalind Russell 1953 I think, when the panel thought she was a man & she didn't correct them.

I think she had just returned from a royal wedding or coronation in Europe, possibly Princess grace’s wedding in monoco
What a FUN video compilation: love the humor and
glimpses of all my favorite whats my line folk: thanks muchly!
THE best show in television history.
Thank you so much, Teddy! You found some gems, and I know you had lots of material from which to choose. I always love your videos! ♥️
Thanks Maynell, I appreciate your comments!
Thank-you for posting this. It is excellent!
Fred Allen extremely funny
Is it, Miss, or Mrs.?
Miss, I've made enough mistakes! 😂
Precious Memories..⚘🎚❤🤍💙🍑⭐

Charlotte Whitton, Mayor of Ottawa - who, it turned out later, after her death, was lesbian...which makes her comment even funnier!
This was a delight. Bring back gaiety!
#9 had a Mae West aura about her. Loved it.
Excellent, as usual.
Thank you for posting!
What a hoot!!!
Dorthy Killgallen after 1 question.....are you a pogo stick repairman?.....ding ding ding ding.....Correct!
Great show!!! Thank you!
And after one of these shows, Dorothy was murdered because she knew to much of the JFK killer
Dorothy's murder was in a book I found in Barnes and Noble it's sad that she had to be murdered long before her time.
The contestant who said it is natural was dead serious. When everyone was laughing he had that expression of Why you all laughing, I am serious.

They were charming, spoke English well, were polite & indeed very very well read & educated.
And there’s so many stupid and weird celebrities out there or people that consider them celebrities. It would be hard to find classy people.
Too many people are called "celebrities" but have done nothing worthwhile to qualify for that title.
Right. These days they'd be ridiculed as "coastal elites" by the anti-intellectuals.
CAPTAIN KIRK
HILARIOUS! 😂
What was the answer to W Shatners question about the telephone number? I can't understand what she told him, too much laughter. thanks!
Just been changed!
@@teddytodorova Thank you! She certainly was proper with that answer!
#2 Arlene got burned lol
What did the contestant say in reply. Cant hear
@@halimausman8815 "It [My hair] was not done. It is natural."

"Off and on."

Here's another great one: czcams.com/video/04Tywtn5UJI/video.html starting at 11:45. The key exchange starts around 15:55.
It is included in the second part
