Wow they thought they were going to have a series show with Groucho one is beyond me. I wonder if they actually enjoyed this or if they were trying to figure out how to make this work without being mean to Groucho.
I love Arlene trying to control and mother him.

I'm in a similar boat as your mother! I found Groucho's humour to be too disruptive to the show, such that it gave the impression of him trying to hog the spotlight to show off his comedy, rather than respecting the rules of the game that he was invited to play.
Steve Allen and Joey Bishop are good examples of humourous panelists that are still good game players; they only sprinkled in as much humour that was appropriate and relevant to the line of questioning at hand.

@@moonlightray8493 I think Steve Allen's best skill is being funny while seeming like he's not trying to. I really like it. Will look for more Joey Bishop episodes, thanks.

Groucho asking the jail warden if he was a corrupt politician is ironic considering the warden was later sentenced to prison for being corrupt. Maybe Groucho was a good judge of character?

I think I’m one of the few people who did not find Groucho Marx to be funny. I loved his brothers, Chico and Harpo but I didn’t find Groucho to be particularly funny or endearing - and he wasted a lot of time on the program.
I felt the same way about Victor Borge. He was a talented pianist but he was not a talented comedian.
