235mW High Powered Red Laser Linear Build, 'A9661ES' 16x DVD Diode, DIY Burning Tricks and Testing

I extracted this closed canister laser diode out of a DVD-RW drive, as well as the optical lens, and press threaded them into a thermally efficient laser module. Operating temperature of both the driver and laser are about the same at 20°C (balanced). The laser beam has a very tight focal point with short focal length (high power density) while maintaining relatively good distance.
Most of the parts used for this build can be cheaply sourced using analog components and computer technology.
