I think the only way we get that is if Labour win a majority, Reform get 8m+ votes but only a handful of seats, annoyingly, Labour members, Labour Voters, SNP, Lib Dems, Greens and the Reform party all want PR. Reform getting millions of votes and no/low seats will rally them around PR strongly, and Farage and Tice (as much as I hate them) will be able to get millions more fighting for PR.
At that point, the only ones left wanting to keep the status quo would be Labour and the Tories. We then just have to hope for Labour to start to struggle, and then desperately give us a referendum on PR to stop a Tory recovery/win.

Nobody in their right mind and in any professional political position with even a smidgen of integrity can survive on the denial that leaving the EU is not bad for the UK economy now and in the long term and that denialism is very, very, worrying. Labour is being disingenuous on the EU regret problem by staying quiet and hoping it won’t come up as an issue whereas on the streets, its the key talking point - but not in the right wing owned UK media mind you - just on the streets and an social media. Ignoring opinion polls and key discussions is a poor bad basis for a political party that thinks it has the hearts and minds of the people. They haven’t - Labour are the least worst option right now and that’s a fact. It’s not going to be an easy ride for Labour. They are power hungry and full of hubris when in fact they can do very little to tweak a broken economy, very little. They just won’t admit it. So…. No rejoin EU - no vote.

Labour is right that it's time for change. But this can't be the only thing that the campaign is about. Labour needs to convince the country what change they would bring in, how exactly they will do things differently from the Tories.
Otherwise the word change will have the same impact as strong & stable did for Theresa May in 2017, people will groan and roll their eyes. That gap in the polls can shrink. It's scary how effective the Tories can campaign and make people forget about how awful they are.

That was Jeremy Corbyn, he did very well, but it wasn't enough and the Tories made him out to be a radical left wing anti semitic, incompetant communist. Unfortunately tory voters are donkeys they don't vote for actual inspirational leaders, they vote for people who promise minimal change and that the status quo will continue. However, things, have radically changed now, for the worse which tory voters hate, they hate change, so they will be more likely to vote for someone like Starmer because he seems safe and looks like he might get things 'back to normal'. Hopefully once labour is in, the really cool stuff can happen, but for now, if he's too radical, he'll frighten all those poor tory leaders.
