I’m autistic and I saw you in Glasgow. I’ve loved you since I was 11. You came here during lockdown, I was sitting in the front row and had a tick that made me slap myself in the face. You said nothing and kept doing your routine.

Can tics be part of autism? I'm autistic and I didn't know that. Are you sure it wasn't just a stim during a moment of intense unregulated emotion that made self control more difficult? I sometimes lose control of my stims if my emotions are too intense, whether positive or negative, due to emotional regulation difficulties that are part of autism, but I don't think that's the same as tics.

@@DDSizeBra I know the difference between tics and stims. Stimming has more purposes than you listed, and everyone does it to some extent, but neurotypes like autism and ADHD significantly heighten the need for stimming. Tourettes isn't the only tic disorder. I had never heard of tics being associated with autism until OP's comment. I assumed they were either mislabelling a stim or they had a tic disorder as well. I guessed the former in my reply, but can't rule out the latter.

Perhaps politicians *should* be boring. We need competent honourable leaders to get things done. The world doesn't need to elect any more failed celebrities.
Exactly! We need our brightest and best running the country not bunch of puppets that want to give it a go and are hoping to get their mates in on government contracts
Unfortunately when we get those sort of people they are easily pushed out in modern politics - May and Sunak being clear examples.
Clement Attlee was arguably our best leader and he was famous for being boring and completely lacking charisma.
Worth remembering how Johnson used his "Have I Got News For You" appearances to push his image as being a bumbling joker.

2:25 One of my clients loves to aimlessly complain about politics and he'd always say "Richy Sunak." I had just assumed he was saying 'richy' as a jab, but just last month taking him to a hospital appointment did someone call him on that and I found out he genuinely, somehow always read and heard Rishi as Richy.
It made Biden's flub somehow more real and more worrisome.
