    What am I talking about?
    My topic is the KE-Jetronic injection system which I try to demystify as much as I can.
    For all of you to understand the system in brief - Developed in 1973 and being mounted into cars up to 1993 as it went in history. But why these to letters!?(KE) K(from German "kontinuierlich" meaning continuos, without interruption) the MECHANICAL injection system on which the fuel starts flowing from the fuel tank sucked by the FUEL PUMP and delivered to the FUEL DISTRIBUTOR which sends fuel to the INJECTORS while the majority of it flows through the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR through its return line back to the fuel tank again. The letter E(electronic) has to mark the electronic sensors (the developement starting from early eighties) which had to inform the ECU about the current state of the engine so that the ECU(Electronic Control Unit) then could create current signal in mAmp(miliampers) and send it to four crucial components for the system - the EHA(the electro-hydraulic actuator,a unit consisting of a magnet, an electromagnet and a baffle plate) which had to fine tune the engine in each of its phases, the ICV(the idle control valve), the unit which was predicted for the engines perfect idle, the X11(the diagnostic socket) where the duty cycle(the ideal mixture) was adjusted and the X11/4(the code reader) - the socket which from any codes were read if present using an OBD1 scanner.
    An extraordinary injection system which could be fully repaired in your own garage using a multimeter and a pressure gauge only for its fine tuning, together with some common tools.

      Thanks. These are great cars. They are just neglected. Once you repair them you will not have to touch anything on the system for 10-15 years long!

    What a great video that was! Once I changed my lambda sensor on my C124 without making sure it's defective. I kept the original changed one in the trunk. After watching this video I did the test and turned out to be good. The voltage was around 0.46V

    hi great videos as always!
    on my 190e 1.8, my lambda reads 0.978-0.982v at 80 degrees does this mean my lambda sensor is bad or that my fuel/air mixture is too rich and needs adjusting at the fuel distributor screw?
    many thanks iain

    • @mercedeske
      @mercedeske  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hi. 0.9V means rich mixture. Concerning the lambda I don't bother myself checking it if I see that the car has more than 60k km/40k miles, 150k km/90k miles and it either still has the original lambda or not replaced at that moment. That's the replacement time for the sensor, it can not be repaired.

      i have changed my lambda sensor recently but its not a bosch part.
      so can i adjust my mixture screw till i get the 0.9v at the lambda down to 0.4v-0.5v?

    Ciao Majstore
    Prvo: puno hvala za sve tvoj videos na tvom channel. To mi puno pomaglo da razumem stvari oko ke jetronic. Super si!
    Imam pitanje, mozda ti je taj problem poznato: vozim 190E 2.5-16V sa 100 000km. Nije puno presao KM. Ali ima Problem. Kad je hladan Motor on laufe perfektno. Cim sam se vozio paar KM i on se ugreje onda cim standem i on je na leerlauf/standgas on pocinje ja ima Fehlzündungen/missfiring. I to svaki 5sekundi jednom. Pada leerlauf na sekundu i posle se dize normalno za 5sek.posle isto. I kad krecem od semafora oseca se za 2 Sekunde kao da se trese i cim ima toure on se kao hvati oped i laufe dobro. Jel mislis to bi moglo bini LambdamO2 Sensor? Puno hvala i pozdrav iz zürich

      Ćao. Hvala na komplimentima. Kao prvo, bravo za auto!👏👏👏Ako nikada nije menjana lambda, promeni je, nema šta da izmeri koncentraciju kiseonika u izduvnim gasovima, kompjuter ne dobija prave informacije o upisanim vazduhu i nastaju problemi, buni se 😀. Tipični simptomi loše sonde su problemi na leru, trzaji u vožnji, mala snaga, povećana potrošnja. Sonda se menja na 50h km. Ako nikada nisi, zameni je i kao što sam rekao samo original po broju, nemoj da kupuješ univerzalne. Veliki pozdrav iz Knjaževca.

      @@mercedeske Ciao! bas sam juce promenio Lambda sondu (original Bosch). Ali nazalost nije mu pomoglo ni malo. Isti simptomi: Hladan Start: Treba mu dugo da vrti dok pocne da pali. Oseca se kao da nece da laufa u pocetak na svih cilindri. To traje paar sekundi, posle laufa normalno i vozi se normalno. Ako je vruc Motor, on pali bez problema, ali trza svaki 3 sekundi na leer, kao da se "udavi". Cim dajem gas on se trza extremno za 1-2 Sekundi i onda krece. Kad vozi, on vozi normalno, cim stajem, on se trza. Jel imas neku ideju, sta bi to moglo biti? Hvala puno! Pozdrav

      @@pickaface Nađi manometar I izmeri mu pritisak, treba da dobiješ 5.7-5.9bara na donjoj komori, kod sauh dizne da bude za 0.4bara viši. Upali kola na zakačen manometar da vidiš da li pada pritisak. Onda mu dodaj gas, ako pada za do 1 bar, proveri regulator pritiska za gorivo. Ako dobiješ pritisak niži od 5.7bara, menjaj pumpu za gorivo. Proveri dizne. Ako ne želiš da se zezaš sa tim, promeni ih, nisu skupe i obavezno gumene držače oko njih. Pogledaj svećice, ako su masne i crne onda te zezaju dizne. Jel si menjao filter za gorivo? Ako nisi uzmi Knecht-Mahle. On se menja na 50h km. Hajde, probaj ovo, pa ako ne ide, javi se da vidimo šta dalje. Pozdrav

    Thanks for this great video. It is very helpful.
    I would like to ask a few questions if you do not mind.
    First; My 190e 2.0 with m102 engine does not have catalytic converter, does that mean she does not have a lambda sensor?
    Second; My car starts at multiple try in cold weather. I heard that it is the result of bad lambda sensor. Do you think it js the case?

    • @mercedeske
      @mercedeske  Před 2 lety +2

      If you don't have catalytic converter you don't have lambda either. If you have cold start issues check your coolant temperature sensor as well as the cold start valve. Lamdba has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with this issue even if you had one!

    hello master congratulations you are awesome. I would like to ask a few questions, I have a Mercedes 200e 118hp 1991 with 340,000 kilometers. I'm thinking of changing the oxygen sensor, now is the process what exactly do I have to do for the brain to read the new sensor since it does not have to connect the car to a computer? Thanks in advance.

      Hi and thanks for appreciating my work 💪🏻
      Concerning the lambda, just replace it and afterwards check it if there is fluctuation (450-1000mV). Then you will be sure that everything is fine. Happy Mercedesing 😃😊

    Hi there,
    When you tested the lambda in the cup of boiling water , what part of the lambda did you connect the negative of the meter to?
    You said ground in the video, but didn't show it in the video
    Thanks

    • @mercedeske
      @mercedeske  Před rokem

      Hi, I knew the lambda is bad😃. When testing the lambda do it on the car, always. The engine must be at 80 and running. Then remove the signal wire. The ground goes to the chassis. If you get anything below 0.2 or higher than 0.8V then you have a bad lambda. If the lambda is still original on the car then it's bad for sure because it has to be replaced each 50k km/30k miles.

    • @mercedeske

      On the pin 8 of the ecu connector. If it id blank you don't have lambda.

    • @mercedeske
      @mercedeske  Před 2 lety

      Never mind the catalyctic converter. The lambda does its work🙂 If the lambda wasn't replaced each 50k km(30k miles) then the engine is going to feel that!

    • @RomasTam
      @RomasTam Před 2 lety +1

      @@mercedeske Yeah, it's running very poorly, and the lambda is probably it's last concern, since the old fuel pump is screaming and working louder than the engine on idle and the accumulator is falling appart all rusted (although it seems that it is doing its job). Been watching almost all of your videos and I sure am learning new things. Sorry if I bother you with some questions in the future..

      t depends on model. Some models have the lambda at the exhaust manifold(190E, W124 200), on the 230E it's screwed in the exhaust pipe.
