Assisted Living is generally private pay but in some states, Medicaid pays most of the costs under the community services waiver provision of federal law and the reason it happens is its a lot cheaper to pay for the resident of an ALF than for the resident of a nursing home. We’re looking forward to a future in which most seniors will be referred to assisted living unless they’re chronically Ill or incapacitated to the extent they need to be in a nursing home.
