    - The new Philippine immigration modernization law will replace the current 80-year old immigration law. It has been approved by Congress and is awaiting deliberation in the Senate.
    - The balikbayan visa and retirees visa (SRRV) will not be affected by the new law.
    - The new law will introduce different types of visas categorized into letters A through O.
    - A visas will be for temporary visitors like tourists, those coming for business, pleasure or medical treatment.
    - B visas will be for those transiting through the Philippines. C visas will be for crew members of vessels.
    - D visas will be for treaty traders and investors between Philippines and their home country.
    - E visas will be for accredited foreign government officials and families. F visas will be for international students.
    - G visas will be for pre-arranged employment. H visas will be for religious workers.
    - I visas will be for representatives of accredited international organizations.
    - The new law aims to enhance Bureau of Immigration's infrastructure and border security capabilities through new technologies.

This will be good move if all briberies are removed from all departments in the Philippine government especially the department of immigration and department of transportation. And all airport staff including security are replaced due to deep corruption and briberies. They are all connected to each other and must be stop.

Do the Philippines Immigration Officers stop asking for bribes? I know a couple of years back, there was this significant eye-opening incident that was published in all the major Philippines newspapers, how Buraue of Immigration officers in Manila extorted foreign nationals and forced them to bribe the officers. Also, if you talk to any immigration lawyer in the Manila area, they will typically ask for double fees, as, according to them, 50% will go to bribe immigration officers. This is a shameful practice at the Philippines governmental level and should be stopped.

I’ve know several people who have applied, The main 3 things that you MUST have before even applying are: 1. Monthly Military Pension ( $1000 single, $1500 with partner) 2. Have a Military Certificate of Discharge paperwork. 3. Have a Military Certificate of Service paperwork.
That’s the basic requirements to start the process, if you don’t have evidence of Pension Bank payments, original military documents then don’t bother applying.
Any good agency that is doing this process for you won’t go attempt to apply for you without those 3 main requirements, if they do then you may be wasting your money as you will hit a hurdle down the line to halt your process and money / deposit possibly wasted.

I think some of this is already being implemented. For example, immigration offices no longer offer 6 month visa extensions and limit the extensions to 3 months. Also, an exit clearance is already required after staying for 6 months or more. Unfortunately, the new rules seem to be making it harder, not easier, for foreigners to stay in the Philippines.

Be aware the airlines here are not to be counted on. Delayed or cancelled flights are a constant thing. Better schedule your departure by 26 days so you have time to book another ticket. JUST FYI, THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR CANCELLED FLIGHTS.

    • @makiavelli6101
      @makiavelli6101 Před 5 měsíci +3

Yes. It starts out at 30 days at the moment. You must have a return or onward bound ticket within that 30 days time period. Having said that, many people who are planning on staying for longer can go to the immigration office soon after arrival and begin the process for an extension up to 59 days. And then the next one is 6 months at this point. I usually buy a ticket to Thailand or something for my onward bound ticket. Then you have proof and you don't have to go to Thailand if you get the extended visa done within the first 30 days.

@@makiavelli6101This is very well put…I myself travel there quite a bit, never had any problems, because one has to take into consideration, doing things ahead of time saves worrying later. Most people get confused when it’s said that an onward, throw away or exit ticket 🎟️ is required, especially if staying longer than 30 days. Keep it simple and follow the protocols, you’ll be fine. Great Info. I'm glad that the Philippine Government has not touched the Balikbayan Program, that worried me a bit. As a retired US Customs/Immigration officer, I was interested in how the Philippines used the alphabet system for the non-immigrant visas. The US uses the same method, but looking at them, only the F category is the same. Seems like the Philippines modeled their new system after the US system. I would be interested to see the length of stay for each category and see if they match up. And I have subscribed to your channel.

We apparently need to find one in Iloilo City and we have no one there to vouch for any. Leave all that worrying for the time being and just enjoy your trip to the Philippines come April. It’s highly likely the Senate won’t be able to finish deliberations on the bill by April. If there are serious conflicts between the Senate and the House of Representatives, the bill will have to be discussed in a bicameral committee. Even if the 2 houses of Congres agree on the final version, the bill will still have to be signed by the President. And for the signed law to take effect, it will have to be published. Even after publication, the implementing rules will still have to be drafted by the DOJ/Bureau of Immigration for the law to be implementable. For all you know, by your next trip to the Philippines after your April trip, the law might still not be in force. Take it from me - a Filipino residing in the Philippines.
