Tip for kale from a pro cook- salt it about a few mins before and then break it down before you add the dressing...the salt will draw out moisture and make the kale a little easier to the mouth. 🙂
What do you mean by “and then break it down before you add the dressing”? Do you mean tear the pieces into smaller pieces? Rinse off the salt? Pay it dry?
My grandfather was the first vegeterian family in my country. His signature salad is kale with pine nuts, lemon and raisins. So simple and so good. He is 100 years today
My favorite (I share because you so freely do) Bed of baby spinach Supremed ruby red grapefruit Sliced green onion Drizzle of olive oil Sprinkle of salt Best ever in my book. Maybe bc I don't care for kale.
I have never made a kale salad. I don't even remember eating kale. I made it with what I had: tomatoes, onions, kale and creamy Italian dressing. I nailed it.😊
That's what I was looking in the comment section for... if SOMEONE ELSE seen her saying "mustard" while pouring what is definitely not just plain mustard!! Basically she's making a backwoods version of honey mustard sauce 😊
Made this and it is really amazing. I don’t usually eat kale but definitely will more now with this recipe. Love how cheap it is too, it probably averages close to 2$ a big bowl for me. I added some apples to mine too
I’m so curious as to why you use maple syrup for almost everything. Doesn’t it overpower the flavor of anything you make? I’m legit curious - bc I think all of your recipes look so good and I’m really looking for new stuff to eat that’s more healthy
@@YoHungry ahhh. Ok. That makes sense. I’m seeing maple syrup used a lot in things and I just don’t know why - bc all I can think is that whatever you’re making with it is just gonna taste like pancakes 🤣
@@Jen-0182 a small drizzle of maple syrup just helps to offset any bitterness or heat/acidity from mustard/vinegar etc. It isn't enough to make it really sweet or taste like maple syrup at all.
I found a recipe at a clients house from one of those fresh kits.. got me hooked quick to kale.. 😋 massaging the dressing in the kale is A 💯. garlic Balsamic dressing, goat cheese with sliced cherry tomatoes. I'd try this one minus the beans
Im going to give it a try! I had an anxiety attack last night even though my tarot said January would be my month it’s not lol 😂 but at least this salad will cheer me up ❤
"About a 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds" proceeds to dump 2 cups of seeds over the kale " Sprinkle of hemp seeds" proceeds to throw an entire cup over the kale 😂

Is this Dijon mustard. Because in the video it looks like Dijon mustard but everybody seems to be saying mustard. Can you clarify I’d like to make it!!!???
Looks good.. Next time I would put gloves on when massaging food. Only because the rings carry germs and under the nails… Sorry it just made me cringe a little. But looks good
Okay like I can critique Amber on many things, but she was lowkey right about Optavia - people have been hospitalized by following this insanely restrictive program and it’s also a pyramid scheme lol
A lot of the things you make look enjoyable, and you’re pleasant to watch. But your constant mention of “Erewhon” is frankly, a bit annoying. I sure hope they are paying you for the constant plugs.
She said "mustard" while pouring what is definitely not just plain mustard!! Dijon I assume? So, basically she's making a backwoods version of honey mustard sauce 😊
Yes, but it’s not unlikely to have a table spoon that can properly measure a Tablespoon. Plus people who cook consistently can eyeball the amount very well. so, it doesn’t actually matter what she uses to measure. Just need to maintain a ratio of ingredients.
I normally massage before putting the dressing on. Just do a little bit of oil and salt and really go in. Should seem a little darker and wilted. There’s something gross to me about massaging it with all of the dressing

First veg family?!! Wow. Which country btw?
What type of dressing?
She’s so happy and bright, I love it!
Salads always seems naked to me if there's no cucumber or tomato 🤔
Me too! 😆
tomatoes definitely can upgrade a salad
Add it, I don't think it will hurt. I add everything healthy to my salads.
I used to think this years ago.
Absolutely a true statement gotta have both and imo u can have a good salad w just lettuce cukes tomatoes
best kale salad has olive oil, apple cider vinegar , a bit of mustard, salt, pepper and boiled potatoes mixed in when they re super hot 👍🏻
Lol. Don't the potatoes make it a potato salad? I think people think potatoes are unhealthy :p
I feel bad about all the things I ever said about kale... This is one of the most delicious salads I've ever made 🙌 thank you so much for sharing!!!
I'd add feta and back olives 🤤
Feta would be a GREAT addition
Yep. There's great vegan feta available!
Looks

Delicious 💯

Much, Needed!,. Fantastic'.
I get so disturbed when I see people eating un-massaged kale salads. Like....it doesn't have to be that way.
Same! I actually feel the same way about dry chia seeds, those things need to be activated!
You are supposed to massage kale before you eat it?
@@joannagarcia2001 yes it softens the hard af leafs.
LITERALLY
Tried this, it was okay. With the dressing and avacado it came to around 1700 calories for the whole thing
Lol
I’d rather have a whole meal with 500-600 calories
Just made a single serving of this for lunch. Sooo satisfying and yummy! Thanks for the recipe!

A clear bowl would've been perfect for this video for the visual presentation as u were putting it together but it still looked good at the end 💯
Interesting
Girl, I need to know, is that Dijon or regular mustard cause I’m bout to make it tomorrow 😅
probably dijon tbh, it’s a little easier on the palette esp for a dressing

Try kale bean soup. With lemon herbs, tumeric.
I like the way you cubed the avocado haha. Will have to try that
I just might try this. And I don’t like kale. Give me butter lettuce usually. But I’m willing to try.
DUDE YES. thank youu!!
My favorite kale salad always has dried cranberries (I get the less sweetened one) and walnuts
I love kale dude
You can also just pop the kale in the microwave for 1:10 instead of massaging it
The best I’ve tried….😊
💚🤗
Thanks ❤
omg you remind me so much of peyton from izombie 🥰‼️
I normally massage my kale while I’m rinsing it and while I’m doing that I take out or break up the really large stem pieces

You can switch the maple syrup for honey or agave
Honey also has a few more calories than maple syrup and maple syrup has more nutrients than honey

Kale has alot of oxalates so i would eat it very sparingly. Drinking smoothies of it all the time is a really really bad idea..
I got sick once from eating too much of it
I do this but I add goat cheese, apples and shredded carrot

Cattle won’t even eat kale. 😂
It's best to steam the kale first and let it cool, it's hard to digest raw kale and the cooking reduces the 'antinutrients'.
That's why she massaged it. It's get slightly soft that way, and anything acidic like the lemon will also break it down some.
Try: Kale +(parmesan+lemon juice+ crushed garlic+EVOO) & massage!
