Pac-Man World 2 is a 3D platformer for the Nintendo GameCube. Pac-Man has 2 unique movement options: butt-bouncing (ground pound) and rev-rolling (spindash). The goal is simple, just make it to the end of each stage, and kill each boss at the end of the world.
The TAS differs from RTA runs in that minute details in the level geometry are abused using the rev-roll. This allows many strategies to be shown off that aren't viable otherwise.
Note: Due to an emulator bug the intro and outro videos look jittery.

this is one of my favorite games growing up as a kid. a lot of nostalgia feels hitting me.
the final boss is a joke, the real mvp is clyde. i was honestly not expecting a death abuse for the final boss as well.
also, i didn't realize how ridiculously long the submarine level was. its insane.
surprised to see that Volcano Panic was the only level with an out-of-bounds.
this is an overall amazing video to experience this game again with the quickness.
The final boss almost feels like a developer meta-joke. The game constantly spawns actors from nearly every possible pool of enemy types, like it's trying to mag-dump every object in the game as a last ditch effort. ...Unless you just repeatedly kick Spooky in the groin, I guess. Then he can't summon anything.
Sonic can only wish his 3D platforming game was as strong as Pac-Man's.
For most Sonic games, yeah. I think the Sonic Heroes TAS has to be the craziest 3D TAS for that though, I imagine. If it's even possible for another game to get even crazier stuff in it then I'd love to see it.

I remember this game never got passed the lava lands but holy hell that submarine level must be terribly boring to play
This is my all-time favorite game, but even I'll admit that the submarine levels are boring and very forgettable lol
@@Fentiman I too have this game deep in my childhood,never got passed Volcano Panic,and it didn't help that I kept losing my PS2 memory card lol
If you think it's boring normally, try 100%ing it:
>Get all the fruits (which is one bonus token)
>Collect all the in-level tokens (which you can do with the above)
>Do the time trial (and beat the set time, which is another bonus token and can NOT be done with the first one)
10-minute-long autoscroller with little way of measuring your progress, have fun wasting 1 or even 2 hours if you don't clear it the first time!
No wonder I have memories of dying on that submarine stage a lot as a kid, it lasted forever.
This game will be 20 years old next year. That's weird to think about :P
the pac man world trilogy is very underrated, as is pac man and the ghostly adventures 1 and 2, too bad namco couldn't have the pac man's heyday, as well as other forgotten mascots like earthworm jim, sly cooper and others, mario and sonic is what people like the most.
One of my all-time favorite TASes for sure. Avalanche Alley and Clyde are too good!

A TAS of the Japanese version of this game should be fun to make, Not worth mentioning the unskippable dialogue.
PS2 emulators don't have good tasing tools and i'm certain the inaccurate emulation will cause desyncs.
Can we get a 100 speed run of this game?

That part was so satisfying. The charge up is really triggering me so it was really nice when it could be used to skip such a large section so fast.

The submarine levels are just as slow as Blue Marine Zone in Sonic Blast.

Same here. I loved it purely because it was a 3D platformer but I have no clue whether or not it was good. Probably not.
It is good and rated well enough, but so HARD it is kinda weird.

Mattpoppybros General thoughts: The volcano levels are where it gets tough. They can burn in a volcano.

I think what I struggled with most was that fucking submarine level. It was so boring and I kept dying at the end for some reason
This game seems like the type to have a back-cover description trying to hype you up for Pacman, using bullet points like "Run, jump, and SMASH your way through SIX INSANE LEVELS"
as if every platformer DIDN'T have running, jumping, and attacking mechanics set to overdone "themed" levels.
I remember slogging through this as a rental, more interested in unlocking the arcade cabinets than the main game.
I'm so happy i never got this game. i thought it was a Pac Man game, not a sonic clone. Now i know. and #themoreyouknow
