Looked like a a classic beef Wellington to me. Most here spend too much time in a weatherdpoons eating crucified steaks.
As an Irish person I've issued an arrest warrant for crimes against potatoes.
Beef cooked properly, you don't want some old shoe leather spoiling your dinner.
(You got had price wise though mate Gordon's laughing all the way to the bank)
Anyone noticed the man behind you with the twitching left leg .must be a elvis he's back 😅
The blended mushroom is called a duxelle! It is classic with a beef wellington. Rare fillet will not make you ill if it is sealed before finishing off. You can’t have a well done wellington the pastry will be crucified and tough.
Seems like people on here would be asking for the tomato sauce if they went out fine dining😂
I was thinking the same. I bet many would have the beef cooked well done!
That beef wellington looked absolutely delicious just the way I like it the flavours all there in my view, the only way to eat it in my opinion so glad we’re not all like same. As for that sticky toffee pudding looked fabulous judging by your reaction it was delicious my score 8.9 +
It is printed on the menu - beef wellington served medium rare , stop moaning about it , you knew before ordering.
Everybody knows (except you) that all steak is best cooked medium rare. I know restaurants that just ignore any attempt to order medium or well-done. But it depends on the definition of what is medium-rare, and that's where it gets a bit difficult/subjective.
I've heard top chefs say that there's actually no such thing as medium-rare. It's a rookie definition just to make sure the meat is pink on the inside, which is what they do anyway for medium. Medium-rare doesn't mean there's blood pissing out of the steak. Now, if you order RARE, that's a whole different kettle of fish. There will be blood.
I don't think anyone would wait for a beef wellington to be made from scratch and cooked to order as that would be 45-50 minutes! Medium rare is how beef wellington is cooked unless you part cook the meat before hand.
The best part of that visit was Maria....
Watching this after 1am cos I'm an insomniac lol
That’s cooked to perfection
I love the way the bartender is wearing gloves and scratches behind his ear! Peace.
Yeah i thought the same, pointless wearing gloves.lol
My husband and I remarked on that too,🙈so much for hygiene 🙄
Maybe a glass of malbec instead of a flat beer may have been more suitable a rare beef fillet?
The beef wellington looks really looks filling and the sticky toffee looks really nice lee
That didn't look good lee. I don't know how you can justify paying that amount of money for one meal. Most normal working class families can't afford that on a weekly shop. I'm sorry but it just seems you're actually having a laugh here.
@@angelabennett3104 trust me doesnt pay for these meals. Total fraud.
my mind instantly defaults to the "what could I buy with that" mode
That’s classic beef wellington with mushrooms, the mushrooms need to be strong.
Cheaper to run a Porsche Taycan. nothing wrong with that Wellington though. Stick to £1 burgers in Blackpool mate 😅
If Gordon got served that outside his chain he would have called it Sh#t on a plate and sent it back
That's a very good portion size. The best "Wellington" i have had is at the Ritz, and the standard is consistent. The Duxelle is always quite strong as Fillet is a very mild flavour. It did looked quite tough to me.I think that has been sat waiting for service.
$83 for that and a few vegetables? What a rip off.
Always order my fillet steak medium rare, didn't think i'd like it until i tried it, now i'm hooked!!! The prices are insane!!!!! 48$ for chicken and salmon?!?!?!?! ouch. Then 18$ each dessert, wowzers!
I guess for a special treat or anniversary dinner you would pay for that and eat in a beautiful restaurant, no screaming children running around , lovely service ❤ great video Lee
Looks wonderful. I could eat that anytime. £50 in some UK restaurants. Wife a retired chef said it's always a Fillet and can cook in a few minutes. You can eat it raw as well. It's that safe
Like the bartender wearing rubber glove and scratching his ear with them on.
That's why gloves are pointless. Rest my case. 😂
There was a "David Brent" moment there when you interlaced your fingers ! 😀
Many people mistake the red juice coming from beef as blood but it's actually water and protein...
It looked quite nice. You were concerned how quickly it came out ? They know how many beef wellingtons they'll be serving per sitting so they don't need to cook them to order, otherwise you'd be waiting half an hour before you get any food. It's a sign of a well run kitchen.
Beef Wellington are cooked and held in a holding oven until order comes on simple check on wellington out oven garnished and served very simple if your in the industry
Dick Turpin seems to be lying in wait around every corner you turn 😂
Oh my gosh! I'm the outlier (I thought that I was too old to be the rebel!.) I love rare beef, especially Beef Wellington. Usually, I get it once a year at my local grocery store. The meal looked absolutely delicious to me.
Come on Lee all beef wellington, roast or steak should always be medium rare🤔🤔
That's almost BLUE
@@TheMacMaster Lee that 'welly' was definitely not Blue!! Next time you order a steak ask for it 'blue' and you will be shocked when it arrives barely coloured on the outside let alone anything like cooked inside. The chef will briefly wave it over the griddle then slap it on your plate. By the way on the 'welly' that potato puree did look a bit like baby food. Personally I prefer a bit more texture to my potato sides. Anyway am liking the more varied content inc travelling and food etc. The anti EV content always makes me laugh especially when you get into all those very smug Tesla owners who have been convinced they are saving money and the planet. Wait till they get their new road tax demand next year from our new Chancellor who is really going to get into the ribs of all motorists.
it came out in 5mins, they put it the microwave 😆
No,si lo hubieran puesto en un microondas el hojaldre no estaría crujiente, soy cocinero.
When Lee went to cut down it no juices came out. Cooked earlier in the day and just heated up. Any med rare would have juices running when you cut it.🇦🇺🦘🪃 just another celebrity named restaurant charging huge prices for reheated food. Ex chef myself when you actually cooked to order back in the olden days🇦🇺🦘🪃🇦🇺🤔🪃
Stick to fish & chips Lee,anything else is wasted on you!!!
Mushroom and Shallot Duxelles Recipe, the brown stuff on your beef.
Recipe for mushroom duxelles produces an intensely flavored sautéed mushroom, shallot, and herb mixture used for beef Wellington.
It would be dry if you cook it any more ,why go for beef MR if you don't like beef ,stick to £1 burgers and fish & chips😢
@markfalshaw-gv9im bloody dry ??? Any more pink it would have been running around a field pissing out milk
Thanks for the warning Lee , $150 for a beef wellington and a pud , shame on you Gordon 😞
Gordon Ramsay dosen't even eat at Gordon Ramsay. 😂😂😂
Your going gordon about him!
Beef pie, mash and carrots.
I think you filled up Gordon’s Aston Martin there. Very glitzy, give me a local independent good value eatery or just a spot of quality home cooking. For special occasions though yeh posh places are great, Gordon is also great entertainment and a signature Michelin Chef so I get the appeal. I stayed with a couple of pals in the Las Vegas Hotel Luxor back in 98. We ate in the basement buffet which was amazing with the most incredible choice. I remember thinking how the Casino hotels competed with grub to get you gambling. We only stayed two nights on our 2500 road trip but it was a great experience. Rent a car (obvs gas not milk float) and take a drive into Death Valley and up on to the Sonora Pass.
Maybe I’m more of a carnivore than you Mac, but it looked like a true medium rare to me and it looked delicious.
What’s the big deal with a reservation? The place looked practically empty.
Stop complaining Lee, it looked delicious , pink is how it should be. I know it's expensive, however CZcams are paying for it. 😊
Should have stormed up to the pass, demanded to speak to Gordon, smashed your plate in front of him and give him a piece of your mind 😁or ordered a fried egg on bread instead 🤣🤣🤣.
Talk about highway robbery ! Absolute ripoff ! Thanks for your honest opinion. Would be great if Gordon saw this review and all these less than favourable comments .
If cooked from scratch it would take a few hours it's basically half cooked and finished off for quickness, or you would be legless before you got it.
I guess you must have won at the casino to pay those prices. 82.95 for Beef Wellington which obviously came out of the microwave to be served in less than 5 minutes and 12.95 for a flat beer.! On top of that you gave a 30 dollar tip. I certainly know where not to go should I visit Vegas .
HOW MUCH!!!!!!????? That’s not mash! I always ask for med/rare and have done a few years on a restaurant grill, that isn’t medium rare, closer to rare turning blue. You’ve been robbed!!
Not putting you down love your videos..but beef Wellington always has mushrooms in it plus that how would eat it ...all good all the same 😊
At that price I guess he didn't want to leave anything on the plate even if it wasn't cooked to his liking !
Cooked properly if it was cooked longer it would be tough by the way red isn’t blood it’s myoglobin
On the bright side, Maria was lovely. 😃
US$ 82.95 = Au $ 123.25 that is fucking ridiculous I bought a weeks shopping yesterday for not much more than that ! One of my old work boots would have been more tender than that bit of old beef !
Guy fieri has a place in vegas nachos so big served in a trash can I wonder if it’s trash
Thanks for taking one for the team.
I was curious to do this with my son when we visit next month however I eat with my eyes and I know I couldn't eat that meat, no matter how tasty or safe it is. I just couldn't relax and enjoy it and for 82.95, I want my food how I want it.
Such a shame but i'm going to look for another food memory.
Agreed with regards to the server though, she seemed very professional and knowledgable - obviously highly trained and good on you for leaving the tip 😊
Maria was lovely but $82.95 for beef wellington what a ripoff 😮
Lee why did you order it when you are biased against medium rare fillet steak? You can't do an impartial review. For me 8 out of 10 on quality though obviously over-priced.
Looks like a real Wellington boot would’ve been easier to cut.
Strange Yorkshireman walks into a Gordon Ramsey restaurant and order's Beef Wellington knowing it's rare/medium and he dosent like his meat like that but still orders it. Why Lee?
Most of the viewers on this channel don't eat in restaurants but watch these videos to complain that food in other parts of the country or world are too expensive.
Where's the Yorkshireman? 😉
To be honest the beef looked perfectly cooked and as I would’ve expected it to come out. The mushroom duxelles is an integral part of a beef wellington so you can’t have it without. My only criticism would be that it needed extra sauce or sauce béarnaise as an accompaniment.
Don't u kno ya food lol Wellington is always wrapped in mushroom
We all knew it was going to be a massive fail, and Gordon did us proud 😂
No way I'd pay that for a meal. Why are you tipping $30? way too much.
20% Minimum in USA
Actually the average use to be 15% max. Now… they show the automatic tip buttons for a Starbucks and it’s 18%, 25%, 28%
Ridiculous! Also, allow all restaurants in my smaller town/ tourist town charge 4% for any card (including debit) if you don’t pay cash. Im fine with it, but most tourist don’t carry cash and don’t know. It began during covid and hasn’t gone away, varies state by state.
It’s ridiculous!
15-18 percent loads for tip@@cumberlandquiltchic1
People who do not like medium rare steak SHOULD NOT order beef wellington...!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats not medium rare though.
But you seem a lot of fun, shouting at nobody.
I was surprised to hear he was averse to myoglobin. He's eaten at a lot of places so I didn't expect him to have the palate of a 12 year old
@@RayRhymer he gave that meal a 6 and a Morrisons breakfast an 8 . No more needs to be said
@@PotatoPirate123 I bet you would eat a used jam rag
@@paulwallis3645 what does that mean? Thanks
Have to admit that the Beef Wellington looked absolutely stunning and impressive but overpriced
Gordon Ramsey uses Palma ham in the recipe I have seen him make for beef wellington. It is usually a fillet of beef, mushroom duxelle and pancakes and shortcrust pastry. I prefer beef rare, but I do not eat pork products, so would not eat his beef wellington. The mushroom has garlic in it, so it is strong. The beef will have had a cooking thermometer pushed into it to make sure it is above the safe temperature to eat. The beef was probably sous vide before it was put in the Wellington.
If the beer was flat it would go gone back and keep going back till it was right
At least Dick Turpin wore a mask !!! 😂😂😂
To me it looks perfect a good medium rare i am in awe of it Worry if it was Blue
I have eaten this at the Savoy grill London it was really good and very tender my wife was concerned about the rare meat and it was cooked for longer although rare was more to medium no complaints
The server was a sound lad
18:53 Sticky toffee pudding: Type II diabetes, anyone? There's 800 calories in one pudding, not counting the ice cream. However, once in a while it won't hurt, and it'll keep that almost raw, sorry, very rare beef company down below. Let's hear it for gastric juices!
Come on lee the beef looked awesome, know your from the north but not everything has to be battered😂😂😂😂.Mike brisbane
Or over-cooked
When you mention 'a fusion of all three', you start throwing gang signs
A drop of gravy and a generous blob of English mustard might have and improved matters!
beef wellington is probably their most popular dish, I imagine they're cooking them all day -- thus why it's quick, they've a few ready at any given time. They didn't cook it in 5 mins.
far too red for me! medium to well done is my order!
Would it be possible to number your vlogs Lee as finding follow on editions are difficult to find other than the dates provided. Your vlogs always interesting, thanks. 🙂👍
Hi. You should be able to view them all by date uploaded x
That's a new spot, and looked very nicely done. Lovely looking restaurant and Maria was awesome!
Will have to go there now, so I can compare the creme fraiche ice cream to the brown butter @ GR Steak.
Probably half a dozen Beef Wellingtons on the conveyor!
I could eat that Wellington all day long 😋
Rested till cold and hard to cut. Sounds top tier.
sticky toffee pudding is not something I ate in the glasgow I grew up in...its mostly an english dessert
83 bucks for steak wrapped in pastry. Outrageous price. I see the Caesar salad 20 bucks plus 17 bucks extra if you want a bit of chicken in it. You don't only get robbed at the casinos in Vegas.....
An Englishman asking an American how a Beef Wellington is made, yes coated in pureed mushroom..... you didn't know????😮
This steak has definitely been sous vide pre cooked, wrapped on pastry at a later date and then blasted fast in the oven
The only way yo eat a fillet steak or a Beef Wellington is rare or medium rare. Just my opinion and any red liquid coming out from a fillet steak, is myoglobin and not blood.
You beat me to all that , totally agree .
The minimum wage in Las Vegas, Nevada is $10.25 per hour. Tipped workers are paid a lower minimum wage of $3.35 per hour, but they must also receive tips that bring their hourly earnings up to the minimum wage. The minimum wage is set to increase to $12 per hour by 2024. Employees who are not offered qualifying health benefits are paid $11.25 per hour at present.
What’s happened to the electric car drive from the east to west coast of America 😢
I said later. Got to be back for family. 👍🏼
Five minutes from order to service? So, 90% cooked and kept at a steady temperature in a warming oven until the final blast. Cafeteria grub disguised as fine dining. "Lipstick on a pig." FFS, his scrambled eggs take 25 minutes.
Oh my the world of celebs, what can we do. So a good cook/chef opens up a restaurant. Fine but as the " brand" goes global, he takes on staff🤔 and he spends more time flogging his books, pots and pans and making telly shows. About how he can save the poor stupid owners. It's all 🐂💩😳Well, hardly likely to forget its a Ramsey's restaurant. Loved the bar person. Black gloves worn for hygiene 😊then scratches his ear👂👈 Great start!! Let the young lady get on with her job. Potato Puree😂that's wall paper paste!! Tiny bits of veg, not counting the green leaf. Medium Rare 😂😂😂 that still had a heartbeat 💓💓💓💓😮within 5/6minutes 😢it's a warm up dish. Should take at least a half an hour. Blended mushrooms, and should have a very thin crepe, to keep you from a soggy bottom 😊😊Could be a blunt knife? Or a tough steak 😢Can only hope Lee you have a really good dentist 😬😬I felt the enamel melting from my teeth just looking at that pudding. Lee my old son, to apply a saying from the great Max Miller. When he was told he'd never work in that theatre again. " Your £500k to late." he replied. Ramsey and in fact that whole tribe of celebrities, have reached the level of having " F**k you money" Don't care about the negative reviews. Always another mug punter right behind. Allan&Family
OMG, I’m crying with laughter. And I love your use of those emojis! 😂😂😂
Looked a bit too rare for me, not a steak lover. The potato looked like runny Smash. Still seems pricey though the sticky toffee pud looked nice.
Do you not know how a beef Wellington is prepared
There was no point Lee ordering it when he is biased against medium rare fillet steak and apparently now mushroom duxelle.
I imagine the wellingtons are all freshly prepared each morning, and then furnaced to finish upon ordering.
I know I wouldn't want them making mine from scratch when I came for dinner, or I'd never get back to the bar 🤣
If ramsay was served that he wouldn't have eaten it looked awful
Spot on. He would’ve screwed up his nose, let out a few expletives and told them to take it back! Bleedin’ hypocrite! 😂😂
We going vegas for 10 days next year. I think the £10k spending money might not be enough 😂😂
It came out quickly, so must have been prepared in advance. The assembly line again! At that price, could they spare a few more vegetables, or are they trying to punish you for not ordering a salad?
Mate, I could not eat it that rare, well done for sure, and the price wow
They should have given you a steak knife.
Gotta say that looked absolutely spot on for a Beef Wellington, looked like it cut pretty well but it's all a personal preference I guess. Good to see the nodding as you enjoyed it. Fillet: rare. Sirloin: medium rare. Ribeye: medium/well. Just sooo expensive!!! But then that's Vegas for you.
Don't be scared of rare, it's just the taste hasn't been cooked away. Overprice? For sure... Roadkill? No..
With a proper steak knife, the blade would have just fallen through the filet. That was the one thing even the cheap steakhouses always had.... sharp, HEAVY knives. I miss "The Golden Steer", in Norwood Massachusetts... Family went there almost every week when I was a kiddo..
