Over Thanksgiving i got a Harrier for 34. The craft these guys are flying are more like 60 to 80. I Fly the Warthog. and its a blast. High Fidelty model, the cockpit is fully modeled from the nav computers to the sensors.. radios.. fuses panel.. clickable cockpit. these planes have a 5 to 10 minutes start up procedure. @jamessquires7015 Před 4 lety +4

      There are multitudes of aircraft that can take the damage your talking about, FAA regulations requires a aircraft to be able to fly on half its engines and by backup wing i presume you mean the one that landed with only one wing, well that isnt hard when your fast enough.

      @@jamessquires7015 FFA regulations require all civilan Jet aircraft to be able to fly on only one engine, this is true, however absolutely no other aircraft except the F-15 is capable of flying without one of it's wings.
      And in military jets only the F-22, F-15, SU-27/30 and the A-10 thunderbolt are still capable of combat with one engine knocked out.

    • @jamessquires7015

      Thanks for helping me debunk your point

    • @jamessquires7015
      @jamessquires7015 Před 4 lety +3

      The only reason that F15 landed was because they didn't know they had lost their entire right wing, it's logical to bail out of a aircraft like that because it's not safe to fly, I don't see what stops something like a MiG 29 from performing a similar act like that due to its similar dual engine lifting body configuration.

    • @anarchyandempires5452
      @anarchyandempires5452 Před 4 lety +11

      @@jamessquires7015 oh yeah, no shit just about everyone with half a brain would bail out, you are missing a freaking wing! As to the mig 29, it's because of a combination of the structure of the wings, the engine configuration and the power to weight ratio of the aircraft.
      Here let me brake it down.
      The wings on an F-15 are. Quite small compared to the size of the aircraft, they are in fact way too small to produce enough lift to keep the aircraft in the sky, this was done to make the aircraft naturally unstable and hence more twitchy and agile in a dog fight, in order to make up for the small size of the wings the engines where placed parallel to one another in high position in order to act as pseudo wing surfaces, both engines where also given what is a comparatively obscene amount of Power in order to keep the aircraft combat capable in case of an engine burnout or if an engine was Damaged or destroyed, this was done because again the aircraft would not be capable of gliding back to safety and in fact would not be able to stay in the sky with a single regularly powerd engine as it's airframe would be too heavy.
      Basically the reason the F-15 can fly without a wing is because the engines work as Flight surfaces and because the wings are too small to start with and the engines are on steroids.
      As for why the mig 29 can't do it, well that simple, it's for the same reason the F/A-18 can't, rather than having a parallel high engine assembly it has a central rear engine assembly, this means that if it looses a wing the wind pressure on the remaining wing combined with the rear trust will force the aircraft into a death spiral, the wing will act as a pivot point using it's natural recistance to the wind and the trust as.....well trust forcing the wingless side of the aircraft Wich has no resistance to turn towards the point of recistance (The remaining wing) do to the rather powerful Engines on both the mig 29 and the F/A -18 this will happen almost immediately.
      To visualize this Google G Foce test, centrifuge.

      This is something I've been developing for a few years now. I first got the idea from Ace Combat 6 where enemies would do barrel rolls to defeat missiles that are set to intercept. The idea is since the missile intercepts only, and never follows, by barrel rolling you constantly move the intercept point in a giant circle that's away from the aircraft. I've seen it work on Growling's channel too where his wingman did it by accident and had a missile stall right behind him. The F-16 has, IMO, the best roll rate out of the fourth generation aircraft so I'll be trying to abuse this trick and refining it when I get access to the plane.

    You should add a rule that if your pilot survives you get one point. It will add suspense when you get hit because then you have to make that split second decision: "I'm hit! How bad is it? Can I push for another point or should I try to save the pilot and eject now?" With such low and aggressive flying the window for ejecting is really small. Delay by just a split second and you're ejecting into a mountain/ground instead of into the safety of the air. I think it could be fun!

    Gentlemen, I really love your videos and learn a lot from them. Keep them coming please. In this video I have to disagree with your assessment of The A-10C in this scenario. This scenario is what the A-10 was built for. Yes, of course if you drive it in the middle of downtown on Main St. you're gonna get greased before you get to the first intersection. The creed is Very Low and Very Slow. I was stationed at RAF Bentwaters / Woodbridge in the 80's and I watches those birds get so low to the trees that they would suck up branches, leaves and twigs into the Wing Tip Vortices and once the passed the tree line and transitioned over a farmer's field or meadow they would go so low they would suck up grass or hay into the Same Wing Tip Vortices. So I say all of that to say that I'm willing to bet that if the pilot that flew the A-10C had entered with just 10% fuel, full Chaff / Flare, full gun ammo and knew exactly where the hardware was...as long as he hugged the tree tops and grass he would have made it.
    Thanks Wess Kitchin Avid Fan

    This is the future for air force pilots. The major governments have been using flight simulator technology for years to train combat pilots whose boots never leave the ground.

      @tvercetti1 And there will always be a horse or two as well. But the truck, tank and bi-plane have been replaced and drivers and pilots will be(are)seated operating and training to fly a controlled drone. In fact it is happening now. I commented future but is happening now and has been for about 45 years in the US and 35 for Russia. China is probably way ahead with out the rest realizing their b progress. At 74 years I don't think I qualify for being born yesterday. Give me an argument for and against my comments as your leave something to be desired.

    • @donmcw5678
      @donmcw5678 Před 4 lety

      @tvercetti1 I guess you don't realize the products made in China for American companies have built in accelerated obsolescence by design and on purpose upon order and direction of the American Distributors and US of A Manufacturers who order the cheapest shit available and sell it to you with a huge profit compared to the same item manufactured in the States knowing it will fail in a certain period of time so that YOU will need to buy the same crap time and time again. The US of A importers are responsible for the crap. PS I don't smoke but you might drive me to drink which I don't do either. Give your head a fucking shake. China is not the enemy. Russia is not the enemy. Not my words but those of European leaders who see the US as the mafia it is. CIA drugs, FBI and coverup, local law enforcement who are not peace keepers serving and protecting but henchmen for the mafioso.

    The F18 may be an old girl, but its wing design makes it perfect for NOE radar-evasion. It's wings are like a cross between an F16 and an A10 (not so sharp that it has a high stall speed, but not so steep that it can't go fast), so with modernized computer systems, they should have no problem keeping up in the modern age. The Super Hornet is proof of this, and with additional changes to the air-frame and some more powerful (maybe even thrust-vectoring) engines, it could probably stay relevant for a long time to come. Think F22 on steroids.
