  • I recently photographed a full wedding with a dual Fujifilm X100VI including the Wide Conversion Lens and the Tele Conversion Lens, a Meike MK-320F flash, and a couple of small Godox C5R lights. This is an in-depth look at my whole experience.

    There was (maybe still is) a Fuji forum on the x100 S x100T days and I vividly rember one fantastic post with pictures of another photographer that shot like you did 28/50 and the pictures were incredible. Happy to see other photographers doing the same.

    This sounds great!
    I was just doing aome calculations if the new Fuji could be a good upgrade for my Pen F kit
    These 2 converters make it very small and comparable kit while giving me more resolution, never sensor and a bit more DOF separation

    Man it's hard enough to get one of them and you've got two ! ? been waiting for mine for months now. BTW: I am just blown away by how good the low light shots turned out (especially on a crop sensor) ! Fuji sensors are definitely next level...

      I was surprised as well with the low light. I'm used to how good the Sony sensors are on my a1 and especially the a7Siii. but the fuji can hold its own. thanks for checking out the video!

    Really useful as I’m taking mine to my nephew’s wedding as a candid/wingman and don’t want to be seen with my Canon DSLR. I’m only using the standard lens and 50mm via digital converter so I can use the in built fill in flash.
    If you had one Sim to use which would you recommend? I’m thinking Astia or possibly Pro Neg Std, plus RAW of course.

      That sounds like a fun gig actually. low pressure. I;m still new with the fuji film recipes, but I listed the one I used somewhere in the video. it's based on classic chrome with some adjustments. it's the one I;ve used so far in the last 3 months, just hadn't had time to play with the other ones yet. im kind of a set it and forget it kind of person, as long as I like the look, im not gonna mess with it too much.

    Fellow wedding photographer here, great video! Would love a wedding where I can just shoot with X100 series, but my only hold back is the lack of dual card slots. Granted the chances are super low now with better SD cards, I am just... too nervous for that aspect... Ha ha

    • @movetomirrorless
      @movetomirrorless  Před měsícem +2

      I feel ya. The thing is, we’ve been used to single card slots for a long time, and it was even worse with film. So double card slots are kind of a newer thing. Before my a7iii back in 2018 people were totally comfortable with single card slots. You know what I mean?

  • @davesearthproject
    @davesearthproject Před měsícem +1

    Out of curiosity. At any point did you ever use the 50mm(equivalent) TCL in combination with a crop mode to simulate an 85mm(75mm). Mainly just seeing if you risked a 75mm shot at 20megapixels or if it would be better to shoot a 40megapixel 50mm equivalent photo and crop later in post

    • @movetomirrorless
      @movetomirrorless  Před měsícem +2

      I actually did that for the ceremony. Thing is, the digital crop only affects the JPEG and not the RAW. Since I short this wedding in RAW+JPEG I had to redo the crop on the RAWs when I processed them in adobe Lightroom.

    • @davesearthproject
      @davesearthproject Před měsícem +2

      @@movetomirrorless that’s great to know and honestly it’s kind of a relief that this only affects JPEGs. It gives some redundancy in the form of a 40mp file. Good to know and thanks! 👍

    This is awesome! I'm curious about using the conversion lens vs the digital ones. Does the lens add some compression since it's mechanical? or is it too small to notice a difference?

    • @movetomirrorless
      @movetomirrorless  Před měsícem

      Conversion lenses will give you a bit more compression versus the digital crops. it's a small difference, but I think enough to make a difference. I made another video where I tested out the various conversion lenses. thanks for watching!

      @RoyAlf Před měsícem

      @@movetomirrorless great vid proves it's all about the photographer. Using the 50mm conversion, if you use the crop feature, does it make it 75mm? Does it work like a longer focal length?

    • @movetomirrorless
      @movetomirrorless  Před měsícem

      @@RoyAlf yes, the x100vi has 2 crop modes. it can do a 75mm crop that's 20 megapixels, then crop in even more to a 100mm at 10 megapixels.

    Tomorrow I'm going to photograph a wedding for one of my wife's nephews and I'm going to take my X100VI and Canon R6 with the 24,35,50 primes and the 70-200 2.8. I don't think I'll even touch the Canon 🙄. I'm just an enthusiast when it comes to "paid" work, but a professional in real estate (I own a real estate company and I insist on being the one to photograph my properties). They asked me to photograph the wedding and it will be my gift! They will have a professional videographer and I will be the photographer, because at family gatherings everyone loves my photos! By the way, a tip..., try the Portra 400 "recipe" and Reggie's Portra..., you'll love it! With Fujifilm I only shoot in Jpeg and with Canon in RAW. Tomorrow I'm going to shoot in RAW + Jpeg with the Fuji...., just to be safe. Oh..., and I have four of each battery! 😅 A hug from Portugal and thanks for the video..., it gave me some security!

      That’s awesome! I’ll check out those recipes when I get a chance. My only advice is definitely have the r6 + 70-200 as your 2nd camera during the ceremony, that would’ve come in handy for me and saved me from a lot of running around (I’m assuming it’s an outdoor ceremony).

      I'm choosing the photos and doing some retouching..., what's wonderful is that, as I mentioned, I photographed in RAW + Jpeg and I haven't even touched the RAW files yet..., I used Portra 400 and Kodaks Tri X 400, with really good results! As for Canon, I used it for the Golden Hour photos with the 70-200 2.8 and I ended up buying the Presets from Manstin Labs and I'm using the Kodak Gold, which has an identical vibe...! It gives me a lot of pleasure doing this work and offering this gift to my Nephews by Affinity! Thank you very much for your attention in asking and worrying...! Big hug and continued good work with these little wonders called "Fujifilm X100VI"! 🫡🙏💎

    I wouldn't touch a wedding with this - my last Fuji wedding was with a GFX50r and 3 primes - the problem with the tele is that it does very weird things with straight lines - the characteristics are way off a standard tele - we use Hass now becuase we care
