From Oberwald you can drive over the alpine passes Grimselpass and Furkapass in summer. Also the cross-country skiing trail starts in Oberwald and leads down the Goms.

Oberwald is a village in the municipality of Obergoms in the district of Goms of the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It is located at an altitude of 1377 m and had 277 inhabitants in December 2007. It is located at the end of the Goms, just before the Furka and Grimsel passes, below the source of the Rhone on the Rhone glacier.
