- Switzerland is a small country full of surprises and wonderful villages. Since decades, Switzerland has been attracting numerous tourists from allover the world. It is the Alps that fascinates most of the visitors but also the very well preserved villages. Although Switzerland is quite small, depending on the region, the villages and towns may look very different. In this video, the 10 most beautiful villages from allover the country will be presented in detail. While there may be a few that you might have heard of, there will be quite some surprises. Gruyères is THE place to experience the medieval vibes in Switzerland. The castle, the museums and furthermore the foodie world of Gruyères are really exciting to experience, do not forget to try fondue, Gruyère cheese and double cream! Zermatt is the most popular village on this list. Visit the many panoramas over the Swiss Alps, see the Matterhorn or simply explore the village of Zermatt itself! Discover the many beautiful traditional wooden houses scattered around this Swiss village! Visit what used to be the smallest municipality of Switzerland: Corippo. Corippo is located in the Valle Verzasca in Ticino. It's a wonderful village full of stone houses and very interesting: ONLY 12 people live in there! Surely, it's not crowded there. Saint-Ursanne is another medieval village; the town that could be in a fairytale. Saint-Ursanne is built along the river doubs and charms with its many medieval houses and wonderful abbey. Guarda - the town of Schellenursli - in the lower Engadin is located in the "Rumantsch" speaking region of Switzerland. It's far away the urban centres and very quiet. Best to visit during Summer or on Chalandamarz! Grimentz is THE stereotypical village of Switzerland. It's located up in the Swiss Alps and charms with its many traditional wooden houses. The houses are all decorated with red flowers; cheesy and alluring! Lauterbrunnen is another touristy favorite. The village is small but it's located in the Valley of 72 Waterfalls! Enjoy the scenery with its many waterfalls and greens! Do not forget to go up to Wengen and the Jungfraujoch! Epesses is located in Switzerland's wine region at lake Geneva! It's a wonderful village in the middle of the vineyards and definitely offers you enough viewpoints over the wine terraces, lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps. Stein am Rhein is also a very medieval and cultural village. The old town is perfectly preserved and charms with its many painted houses. Spectacular is the "No e Wili" play that is held on a 10-25 years base. Enjoy swimming in the river Rhine or dining at the Castle Hohenklingen. MORCOTE is the most beautiful Swiss village on this Top 10 list! It's located at Lake Lugano and charms with its appearance of being built at the hill. Stunning is the church Maria del Sasso, the wonder garden in the Parco Scherrer and furthermore the many viewpoints on the hill. Morcote is by the way considered not very touristy. As someone who was born here and lived here for the past 37 years, it really is a magical place. I have the crazy alpine view from my home in Bern, but when the sky is clear and the mountains pop out, it is still breathtaking. Even after 3 decades, you don't "get used" to it. I hope you will all soon be able to visit us, as the light at the end of the tunnel now becomes visible. You are most welcome here and I apologize for the slightly crazy prices already in advance.

My friend I totally agree. Born in Bern, lived in Solothurn, Aargau, Berner Highlands, (Lauterbrunnen;)), i am now 36 years old. when the air is dry and sun in summer is bright, the view to the alps is still breath taking every day.

I visited Switzerland a number of times over the years during my 14 years in Germany. Germany and Austria have their own appeal, but Switzerland is in a category by itself in beauty and charm. Perhaps one day, in our “New Abnormal” world, I’ll be able to travel again and see some of the villages you mentioned in this video. Alles Gute

Many of my friends reminds me that Switzerland is an expensive country and I should reconsider to visit!!! In my opinion, it's beauty that makes it expensive and it's worth a spend!! I never been to Switzerland tho. But it's always in the top of my bucket list. I pray that God may grants my wishes and I wouldn't hesitate at all to spend my fortune in this beautiful-breathtaking place.
Things that are really expensive are restaurants and hotels. If you're ok with staying at a hostel and eating sandwiches and salads, I'd say it's about the same as neighboring countries.
@@apacheattackhelicopter8185 Well... When my friends and I visited Basel we were a little disappointed to discover we could hardly afford a drink at a cafe or a take-out pizza. It's not just the more top end / sit-down establishments. And public transit is also insanely expensive (but also very good). We double our budget per day for Switzerland days, so it is definitely something to take into consideration, IMO.
Everything is 2/3 time more expensive than france or germany.
Can still sleep in French or german border and go visit switzerland with your car

As a Swiss person, I've only been to Gruyères and Corippo. So much more to see!
I discovered Corippo by looking for a place to park my car to go hiking, I had never heard of the place. When arriving there, I stumbled across an old man whose family is from the village. He offered to give me a tour and provided lots of informations, it was unexpected and amazing.
Hi. That's an interesting story to hear about Corippo. I really loved this village too. I only discovered it when driving up to Lavertezzo and went to take a closer look with my drone :) That was in 2019, my first visit to the village itself was last year :) Switzerland really doesnt stop to amaze us, you will see, Morcote and Epesses are really charming as well; not forgetting to mention Grimentz, the most stereotypical Walliserdorf!

I definitely can say: Having grown up in a Swiss village and having lived in big cities, life on the country side is going to be very relaxing and beautiful. The best of both worlds can be enjoyed when choosing to live in villages nearby bigger cities :)

I am always grateful for the rich influence we have from various cultures. The same is the case in India, just the boarder regions (that have influence from the neighboring countries) are not much visited by the travelers. The inner part of India is already so large that it has itself so many cultures. This is what I find really fascinating about your country :)

Morcote is absolutely incredible. Been there a few times. My close second would be a village called Sonogno. Its a hidden paradise.

Ich schaffe es gerade mal fast auf halb so viele, 39 :) Als Österreicher bin ich überzeugt wird dir vieles in der Schweiz bekannt vorkommen; sind ja auch Bruderländer :) Architektonisch werden allerdings so einige Sachen neu sein. Ich kann dir wärmstens empfehlen mal in die Schweiz zu reisen. Ich war 2016 zum 2. mal in Wien, meine absolute Lieblingsstadt in der Schweiz. Interessant fände ich vor allem den Semmering und das Salzkammergut; dort will ich unbedingt mal hin :)

I swear Switzerland is heaven to me. I always loved my visits there! I was living in Germany and would drive to Basel or Lauterbrunnen. Zurich is amazing too!! I hope to live there one day even for a short period I would be so thankful. it's a hidden Gem, I remember saying to myself " I've never seen some of these colors of nature" gorgeous. Back in the US now but gonna make my way back! Also, as a black women I felt very comfortable there 💕

Dont go to Interlaken or Grindelwald if you want to avoid tourists. Trust me, there are way more beautiful cities. I recommend Bern. You can go swimming the the local river the Aare. Its a folksport 😊

Hi Simone. Indeed, a lot among us Swiss forgot how beautiful it actually is in here! In 2020, I limited my travels almost entirely to Switzerland (except Bellagio in July). It was amazing to explore all these villages. Late 2021, I will present another top 10 list; with different villages. Maybe if you want, we can meet up and walk through Gandria. Never been down in the village, but it looks beautiful from my drone view :)

After my trip to Montreus Switzerland I'm hooked. I've never felt peace like I did there.
During this time of pandemic, seeing this video makes me feel homesick, i am from Borneo, Malaysia..some of the view i have seen here reminisce the time when i was in my village which is situated on top of the hill..the only difference is, the climate and season..it is warm, rainy all year round..
Lol been living here all my life and haven't seen most of these places. Gotta save the video for the future.

I was in Switzerland several times. My last visit 2020. Swiss people very helpful and honest. There is very good train and bus service. German and French most of them speaks but Italy border area speak Italy and most of them speak English. Best wishes from Singapore.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this video. I had to make some last-minute plans for our two-week trip to Europe two months ago because the vacation company cancelled their 9-day tour of Switzerland. I watched your video and researched the towns that are between Zermatt and Milan, Italy, and I settled on Morcote. We stayed down the road in a beautiful place by the lake in Melide, and once I figured out how to use the bus system, we made our way to Morcote and spent a lovely day there. We at at Gandolf's and climbed the stairs to the church and just relaxed and took in all the beauty. We visited several European cities and Morcote was my favorite. Now I'm planning a return trip to spend more time there and visit other wonderful Swiss cities. Thank you again!
