    ****EDIT****
    When I mention a Timing belt I mean the SERPENTINE belt! Your vehicle will not run without a timing belt! Thanks for watching!

      Oh! You totally freaked me out when you stated to "run your jeep without the timing belt! Not! Not! Not! possible. Jeep 4.0 Liter from 1983 - 2002 uses a Timing Chain. Only years 2002 - 2006 used a Timing Belt. Misidentifying the fan belt to be the timing belt or to tell someone to "run the jeep with the timing belt removed is just a silly statement. Continue to love Jeeps and Carry On!

      Yeah I have no idea why I kept calling it a timing belt. 😬

    Without the diagnosis tool, your tj can tell
    You the codes. All you do is turn the key to ACC, but dont start the car, and you do that three times without starting the car, and the odometer will show the codes. Very simple. Also, P1281 is a common code, which is thermostat problem

    • @user-hz7we6ue2h
      @user-hz7we6ue2h Před měsícem +1

      Problem is that there's ALWAYS a code of some kind popping up keeping the check engine light on. After AMC sold out to Chrysler and the others who worked with Chrysler, the Jeep went to hell in a hand bag. Heated seats, heated steering wheels, double din radios with internet are the things Soccer Moms need in a Van, not a Jeep. And then there's those morons who insist on an Angry Eyes grill or some other dumb bolt on shit, and need at least 20 sq.ft. To showcase their Friken Rubber Duckies.

    Jeeps leak oil in general 😂
    Part of their charm.
    The TJs ran on the old AMC in-lines. Not tractor motors.
    My '97 (original owner) always runs on synthetic.
    Ed. Marvel Mystery Oil and Seafoam work great on these old engines.
    Awesome video!!!

    tolerances in my TJ is too loose to run synth. Pisses it out on driveway. Went back to oil based snd most of that stopped.

      Exactly my point! Not worth running synthetic in these older rigs the majority of the time

    You ever wonder how OnX has the money to partner with every CZcamsr? One of my recent commenters said he found out OnX partnered with the insurance companies and are giving them info on our driving habits (comment is on my OnX vs GAIA video). If true, that’s wild. Anyway, good stuff here besides the OnX ad 😉

    Hi. Thanks for sharing this video with us. Just a question, you called it the timing belt, but did you mean the serpentine belt? TJs have a timing chain, and you don't want to run an engine without a timing belt/chain even if for a few seconds, right?

    • @Montanaoffroad1
      @Montanaoffroad1  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Yes, serpentine belt, thank you for correcting me on that! Thats my mistake!

    I came across a 2015 unlimited 4x4 6sp man with 89,000 miles. I really want it but is that too much to pay? I had to sell my 95 that I had for 18yrs because the frame rotted out. I'm really on the fence about spending that much money.

      I’m a purest at heart and would rather one a TJ over a newer Jeep personally but if it fits your needs and you can afford it, the price doesn’t sound bad.

    I love my 2004 TJ, but this thing has been nothing but trouble with the crappy electronics they used. I'd love to pull the engine, trans and transfer case and all the wiring and install a AMC 304 cu. In. Engine and 4 spd manual transmission with a Rubicon transfer case. The Jeep I really wanted is a CJ7 with the described drive train I'd swap into the TJ, full doors with crank windows and hardtop. Dana 44's front and rear with 4:56 gears and Detroit Lockers and chrome moly axles. 33 or 35" tires are all I've needed for years and I've owned several Jeeps that went off road a lot. Suspension seats and if possible, A/C. The problem is the cost. I've contemplated buying everything I'd need to build a completely new Jeep. New EVERYTHING ! No computers of any kind except the one used with the Holley Throttle body injection system. And yes, it would have the leaf spring suspension. But, that is my dream Jeep and will probably never happen for me.

    • @Montanaoffroad1
      @Montanaoffroad1  Před měsícem

      Sorry to hear about all of the issues! I haven’t had much of any problems from the electronics perspective but I do know what you are saying! Sounds like it would be an awesome build!
