    It's always important to remember that this is not a remake of the 90's movie. It's an adaptation of the Comic...just like the 90's movie was. There's going to be things that are right and things that were changed for the sake of film and the fact...it's a different time versus when the comic was made. It needs to be taken in that light and way too many people watching the trailer are just thinking of the 90's movie and being hyper critical because it's too different without giving it any chance first. And of course you have people acting like you have to pick a side and you can only like one version. There's no reason you can't think they're both good adaptations in their own right. I was obsessed with this movie and the comics when I was a teenager...and I'm watching this trailer and I'm excited! I can't wait to see it and see all the things we're not being shown in the trailer. I can't wait to see what is being taken from the comics that weren't in the first one. I already see the beach dance where Eric and Shelly celebrated their engagement in the comics right before they died so that's great. I'm more iffy of the death scene because it seems...dramatically toned down but maybe there's things we're not being shown yet. I also feel they got Eric's personality better because in the comic he's....unhinged...to say it nicely. He is bloodthirsty and prone to bouts of rage. The 90's adaptation was incredibly toned down in terms of the violence and other darker aspects of the character (like...drug use. the 90's adaptation had it's whole 90's anti-drug thing going on but comic Eric is not so anti-drug use lol). I also see he has his katana which is also from the comic.

    I want to give this film a chance, I'm just afraid that it will miss some details, like the character's suffering for being dead, the trauma he carries, this was seen all the time in the first film. Mainly some actions he took showing that he wasn't just a supernatural killing machine, as some people he saved, showing that he is a force driven to fix what is wrong! At this moment, the main character's performance and the script are the only things that can save this film, as the comparison will be inevitable!

      honestly I just don't get why neither movie was willing to make their deaths the same as in the comic...is a random act of violence pre-empted by nothing but bad luck really not interesting or something? Is being attacked after your car breaking down on the wrong road at night and being shot and then forced to watch your literal soul mate tortured and killed while you can't do anything to stop it...and then languishing in the hospital tortured by the memory of it before finally dying...is that not compelling enough? Or is too dark? lol

    this will be a big sleeper hit like one of its counterparts was. The Crow City Of Angels was a sleeper hit. It grossed its entire budget back opening weekend and went on to gross the studio a handsome profit of 12 million. City Of Angels was panned like this is being in the same exact way with the same old worn out talking points. this will do well. box office smash? i dont know about that but it will make pressman studios money back and a profit.

      No the color theme of the original was darker, but the tone was kinda cartoonish in a good way. This one is supposed to be more faithful to the comics, Eric's psychological and physical torment was worse in the comics than what was shown in Brandon's portrayal.

    • @chrispetesch9245
      @chrispetesch9245 Před 2 měsíci +1

      Sarah from the original movie was based on a character named Sherri from the original graphic novel, and she had much smaller role compared to her movie counterpart. But both those characters represent innocence and light in a dark and cruel world of violence and despair. but since this is only the first trailer, and those tend to not show too much, there might be a character we haven't seen yet who represents the innocence and light in the dark world of this reboot.

    Recasting Eric Draven is why I will not be seeing this movie. So disrespectful to Brandon Lee's legacy.
    *them being junkies who get high and have sex after running away from rehab is another reason I won't be seeing it, I heard 2/3 of the movie is them shooting up repeatedly and having sex. *He doesn't have the crow with him, there are crows in the movie, but none of them stay with him.
    *The bad guys are just generic bad guys, there's no personality, they're not memorable.
    *There's hardly any action scenes in the movie, the trailer pretty much showed
    them all to you.
    *And he doesn't even do the makeup until the end of the freaking movie. *He's trying to save her soul before it goes to hell. WTF?! So he's killing all these generic bad guys to save her from hell??? Whaaaat?!
    *the big bad guy? He steals souls of younger people so he can live longer. WHAT?! Again, what does him killing a bunch of basic bad guys have to do with the guy stealing souls or saving her soul from hell?? They
    hould have just made it with a different title.
    Hard pass.

      Eric Draven on the original James Obarr graphic novel was a addict and had a past with drug use. That was shifted with Lees character to Funboy and the girls mom in the first film. Lees Draven wasnt a drug user. So they changed the original Obarr work significantly themselves. This uses that original backstory more so. And in the original movie we arent exactly sure the crow actually stays with draven the whole time. It never really is eluded to. You just see its involvement mainly in the vengeance scenes. Im not seeing much here that varies from that. And the studio in this trailer doesnt elude to the entire story or the characters for the film with reason. The film is a full length 2 hour film. It is pretty long. They are going to show more of the relationship between the two main characters and how they become involved with Danny Hustons character. Fleshing the story out to a build up finale. And killing the generic bad guys is also central to Hustons character. They are the ones he sent to kill the two. And there were cannon fodder bad guys in the first film who got shot stabbed and thrown out windows who were nothing but cannon fodder with no connection other than working for the big bad guy. So do the ones in this. Also as far as the stealing souls angle. Well that supernatural element is no different than City Of Angels using a similar angle in its version of The Crow where he could take away Corvins powers and abilities. The oriental lady in the first film also could do that. And from what Ive read the angle change to him saving her soul is actually based on him sacrificing himself to save her soul. Im interested in seeing where they take this. It is definitely better produced and budgeted than any other crow film since CIty Of Angels. Which caught the same heat and criticism this is. And it was a box office hit grossing its budget back opening weekend and grossing a later profit of 12 million on top of that. This will do as well as that did.
