Part 1: czcams.com/video/32UBN7Dj4Is/video.html Part 2: czcams.com/video/4Z3YT7T9XD0/video.html For those of you who want to watch the whole thing but don't have the time in a single sitting, I've created a convenient video index for you in the description. @@johnacolby Thanks for the question. So while you are viewing your song list, right-click on the song you want to assign programs to and click, "Relink" - there you'll get options to set programs for parts 1 through 5.

    I have owned a Nord Piano 2 since 2013, and I never understood the Nord Sound Manager or the nature of the UI on the piano itself until I saw your videos. The official Nord videos are so bad. Thank you so much for this! Appreciated!

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 3 lety +1

      @Torjus Thanks for your comment and compliment! So yes, thank you for clarifying all this in that the Nord Sound Manager is to manage the sounds but not so much edit them. All sound creation and tweaking needs to happen on the Nord keyboard itself. Side note, you can duplicate an existing program with the Nord Sound Manager application which is great if you're trying to copy a program and perhaps do a quick substitute of a piano or sample on the cloned one. But anything "sound related" and the specifics of all the parameters that make up that sound (synth parameters, effects, etc.) are done entirely on the keyboard itself. Thanks! 🎹

    Hey Folks. When I mention bundles are transferable to "other Nord" keyboards, this can sound misleading. Yes, you can share bundles with other people who have a Stage 3 (if the bundle was created from a Stage 3). Also, you can move bundles between different sizes of the Stage 3 family (73, 76, 88). But there is no way to share bundles across two different family types of Nord. In other words, you cannot share a bundle between a Stage 3 and an Electro for example. In addition, you cannot share bundles across different versions within the same family (i.e. you cannot share a bundle between a Nord Stage 2 and a Nord Stage 3). You can read more here and sorry for the possible confusion on that point... www.norduserforum.com/nord-stage-forum-f3/transferring-programs-to-another-nord-t15007.html

    I create a 4 part song mode on my Electro 6 using Sound Manager.
    Here's how...create your 4 song parts, use Nord sound manager to organise them so that that the first part starts on a number with a 1, ie 11 or 21 or 31 etc. Then on on the Electro you can use the page button to toggle through the songs as it always moves on or back 4 programs. Plus before a gig I populate all 8 live slots with my standard programs. Hope this is useful.

      @@MyKeysToMusic Thank you! Haven’t bought it yet. Needed the knowledge to upload pipe organ sounds from Synth Cloud onto a nord in Store.
      As an organist first and piano second, I’m probably going to go for the nord piano 5 because (1) I wasn’t overly phased by the organ engine in the Nord electro, (2) I can easily play organ on weighted keys but can’t really play piano on waterfall keys and (2) the sample library on the Nord piano 5 is an entire 1GB compared to 500MB on the Nord electro

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před rokem +1

      @@Anthony.Oboist.Pianist You'll get more flexibility out of the organ on an Electro or Stage keyboard versus the piano simply because it has drawbars. However, I understand what you are saying about the Piano 5. FYI the Nord Stage 4 has weighted key options and also supports the triple sensor. I realize this is a different board in a different category but it would provide it all. It's also more to learn than the Electro 6 and Piano 5 - so there's that consideration too.

    • @Anthony.Oboist.Pianist
      @Anthony.Oboist.Pianist Před rokem +1

      @@MyKeysToMusic Thank you. I think the organ engine is more suited to musicians who need an organ for a rock band. For church, it sounds overly electronic. However the pipe organ sounds from Synth Cloud are insanely realistic and represent all that I will ever need organ wise.
      I did consider the stage but it's way beyond my budget.

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před rokem +1

      @@Anthony.Oboist.Pianist I get what you are saying. And yes, the pipe organ only considers the "full voice" of a pipe organ and misses the mark on the many colors of a true pipe organ, with the various stops having a LOT of color and timbre that isn't represented in the current organ engine. Oh, ya, and then there's the budget aspect too!

    Coming from the guitar world of modeling ecosystem this is a bit different but starting to understand it thanks to this tutorial! I will say It seems that Nord should have either made the storage area larger so one doesn't have to remove sounds or samples in order to upload bundles giving the user a much easier experience or made it so the sounds or samples could migrate to the ones that are already in the unit.

    Does the Nord Stage Manager allow you to view, save and edit programs stored in "Live" mode? Or do they need to be saved as programs in a blank bank and then saved to disk? I have a few programs I use regularly that I have saved to Live mode that I'd like to back-up.

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 4 lety

      Hello @Retrobox. So working with Live mode can only be done on the keyboard itself. To back up your live mode programs, you can do a "Store As" and copy them to an empty location in your regular program area. Once you do that, you'll have full access to them using the Nord Sound Manager software and you can back them up like you would any other program. Hope that helps!

      @@MyKeysToMusic YOu're welcome ! I'm wondering about sthg. is there best pratices when it comes to midi mapping severals instruments (keyboards, samples, drums, analog recording ) when it comes to DAW like Ableton or others or is it always "one man's business" according to your own prefs" ? I mean in term of efficient organisation

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 3 lety

      @@NEXT-LesMondesSensibles-Serie It truley is "one man's business". I think you have to find the workflow that works best for you but you can certainly do a lot of research from experts out there to find out what resonates with you. A very famous movie composer who is also quite the synth expert is Hans Zimmer. He has a saying that goes like this. "The best DAW is the one you know" - and that really says a lot. In other words, learn to do something and get really good at it in your own way and make it work for you. After doing that, you'll have the best solution no matter which software you choose and you'll hopefully develop an efficient way to organize things that work for you.
      Side note and potentially not related to what we are talking about but it jumped into my mind just now: Nord keyboards are not really workstations, arrangers or multi-timbral instruments in the traditional sense. I think they are best suited to be played live and in the studio versus being used as a tethered sound source in conjunction with a DAW (although they do play nice most of the time). And luckily they do take MIDI sync clock input from external MIDI which is a nice plus when working with a DAW or other devices. So in that sense, they are somewhat compatible. But with the Stage 3 you are limited to 2 layers and the Wave 2 has 4 layers. Compare that to a true multi-timbral unit such as the Roland Integra-7 Synthesizer Module with 16 parts and 6000+ sounds. Of course, this is comparing apples to oranges but my point is that you'll have more built-in readiness with a unit like the Roland to work with a DAW versus a Nord keyboard. But then again, when it's time to record that perfect synth or perfect piano from the Nord, you can lay down a track from the red keyboard and be smiling all the way to the bank.

    Hi there; thanks a million to Mark and My Keys to Music and to everyone else for such wonderful videos and instructions. I have noticed that most of the videos and instructions and comments (if not all) are geared towards the Stage 3. I am a brand new user of Nord who just purchased the first Nord Stage (mine is actually called Nord Stage 88 EX Revision B). I am wondering if anyone can direct me to any instructional videos or forums dedicated to this older version of Nord, knowing that the engineering concept is pretty much the same (unless I am wrong with this assumption). Other than the common and obvious functionality of the Nord Stage EX, I am trying to understand the concept of Panels and their usability in a live performance. Anyone's and everyone's help is deeply and sincerely appreciated. Cheers.

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 7 měsíci +2

      @LikhithDorbala Hello Likhith! Thank you for your comment. So, for all the Nord I've had direct access to, generally speaking, the boards come 1/2 to 3/4 full when it comes to programs/patches. When it comes to the pianos that are loaded, you are generally at 90 to 95% full and the same when it comes to the synth samples, around 90 to 95% full. So, Nord provides more room for programs/patches but not a lot more room for additional samples or pianos. What people tend to do in this situation is to remove the unused samples and/or the pianos they no longer wish to use and exchange them for something else. Nord does tend to pick useful pianos and samples when they create their programs, but there is almost no room to experiment unless you are also going to remove something in exchange.
      For me personally, when I receive a new Nord keyboard, I first audition all the programs/patches and make note of the ones I think I'll never use. Then I open the Nord Sound Manager and review the installed pianos to remove the uprights and harpsichords (or perhaps I'll keep one upright). That will buy me enough room to experiment with other pianos. You can also change up the piano sizes - this will save you a LOT of room going from an extra large to a medium, for example (czcams.com/video/WqWa2M-e07Y/video.htmlfeature=shared). For the samples, I almost immediately remove any that are unused. Nord tends to install many samples that are not used which means that the samples are installed on the keyboard, but not currently assigned to a program/patch. Therefore, if you remove an unused sample, none of the current patches are affected whatsoever.
      I recommend besides getting familiar with the Nord Piano sizes (see my link above), I also recommend you get very familiar with the Nord Sound Manager where it can indicate which pianos/samples are used or not (like the video here where this comment is attached). Good luck! When ready, you may want to enroll in one of my paid or free courses available on my website: www.MyKeysToMusic.com I go over all these concepts in fairly good detail and I also have several lessons on how to load new programs/samples/pianos from the Nord website and third party sound packs, etc.

    Great tutorial, very helpful. I have a question regarding saving and retrieving bundles, specifically either programs or songs. I don't plan on changing the pianos or samples, so it seems to me that I should just be able to save the programs without the samples, as they won't change. Is there a way NOT to store, or more importantly, retrieve samples when bringing in a bundle? I seems redundant otherwise. I hope that is clear.

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Pete! Great question here. My official answer is yes and no. 😉 The good news is that programs can either be uploaded to the computer from the instrument as either a "sound" or a "bundle". If you upload them as a bundle, the samples will be included (and it will take much longer to upload). If you upload them as a sound only, then the samples are not included and the upload time is near instant. The difference is available only when you first select the programs tab at the top of the sound manager, then select the programs you want to upload and then right-click and select either "Upload" or you select "Upload to Bundle". You can also select the programs and from the top buttons select "Sound Up" for programs only or "Bundle Upload" for both the programs and the samples. Again, these options are only available if you first click on the "Programs" tab first, then select your programs.
      Songs, on the other hand, can only be uploaded as a bundle. There is no option to just save the song settings without their included pianos/samples as far as I can see.
      Also, when importing a bundle from the computer to the keyboard (i.e. downloading a bundle), the Nord Sound Manager software first determines if the sample already exists. If the sample used in the bundle already exists in the Nord keyboard, then it doesn't bother importing it again. So in that sense, it's efficient.
      For some Nord keyboards, there is another nice feature of the Nord Sound Manager whereby it provides for cache storage of pianos and samples. You'll find that in the preferences of the Nord Sound Manager. Nord defines this as the following: "The file cache stores samples and pianos that have been sent between your computer and your Nord instrument. This greatly increases speed of Uploads and Backup operations." In other words, if you create a bundle that uses a particular grand piano, and you turn around and export another bundle that uses that same grand piano, you won't have to wait for the software to re-export/upload that piano all over again. That's why the cache area was created to make that transfer process time-consuming only the first time.
      So, all in all, it sounds like the only thing missing from our wish list perhaps is the ability to export only song settings without the inclusion of a given piano/sample. Programs give you the option of either with or without a piano/sample included.
      Hope that helps explain it a bit more - thanks for watching!

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello OnceUponaTimeMusic good question. I think that in most cases you'll want to backup just the bundles of your favorites as you mentioned. For others they may have then entire keyboard configured to their liking and want to take a backup/snapshot of the entire thing if they even wanted to go back to that exact setting. Bundles are limited to 25 programs so a full backup can accomplish a full snapshot with a single button push. But the more I think about this and analyse my own usage over the years, I find myself doing exactly what you mentioned which is to store my favorites as bundles and organize them into folders. Thanks for the comment and your observation!

I have a Nord Lead 4 synthesizer which is not compatible with the Nord Sample editor, but it is with the Sound Manager. I was wondering if it is possible for me to create custom samples for the Lead 4? For example, would I be able to convert a oneshot WAV. format sound to a format the Nord Lead 4 would understand and put it in Sound Manager so I can download it into the Lead 4? Or is downloading custom made samples to the Lead 4 just not possible? Would really appreciate your help. Thanks!!

    Thank you for the tutorial. How would I be able to split 2 instruments from the same panel? For example bass on the left and guitar on the right side. Electro 6D. Someone mention that it can be done in the Nord Sound Manager. Thank you!

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @ArtLevin Hello Gene! Unfortunately, once a single engine is used for a sound (regardless of whether or not a sound is split), it can't be used again (for the Nord Electro 6). You would need a Stage 3/4 or Wave 2 model to have multiple layers (one for each unique sound coming from the Synth engine for example). With the Electro 6, you can choose a single organ with a single piano and a single synth. All 3 can be either split or layered together. However, you cannot have both a bass sound (coming from the synth engine) and a lead guitar sound (also coming from the same engine) simultaneously. You would have to choose either the bass or the guitar sound.
      If someone said this can be done, they might be referring to the fact that you can make your own samples. In that way, you could combine two different sounds in a single sample whereby the right set of keys play a guitar sound and the left side play a bass sound. Making your own sample to do this is how many Electro owners get around this limitation. However, making our own samples is extra effort and requires a new set of skills. Also, working with samples has limitations in terms of sound quality, too, since you cannot make them velocity-sensitive beyond volume. Also, since that combined sample is happening on a single layer in the eyes of the Electro, both sounds would share whatever effects you add to them, which would most likely be another caveat/sacrifice.
      If you do want to learn how to make your own samples and apply them to your Nord keyboard, I make a free course available on how to do that here: www.MyKeysToMusic.com (Course: "Master the Nord Sample Editor")
      This concept is one reason people trade in an Electro for a Stage - they simply want multiple samples at the same time to be heard and assigned. WIth the Stage 3, you can do up to two synth/samples at the same time. The Stage 4 allows for three. The Wave 2 allows for four!! But the Wave 2 doesn't have a piano or organ engine - it's just a pure synth that can also play samples.
      Feel free to ask more questions if you have them...
      Also, congrats on your CZcams channel - Lawrence sounds good and it seems like he appreciates both jazz and classical 👍🏻

      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 9 měsíci +1

      @morgansamuelnz Great question and you'll be pleased to know that when you move your programs around, the Song Mode index adjusts accordingly. In other words, if you decide to organize your programs (either using the board itself or via the Nord Sound Manager), Song Mode won't lose track of them. Song Mode will index your programs according to their current location no matter where you move them to. There must be an internal ID that it uses so that users can feel free to organize as they see fit without having to go back and readjust all their song mode listings.

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for the compliment Konrad and for your question! It's possible to have a total of 6 sounds playing at one time with the Nord Stage3. You can layer three sound engines (one for organ, one for piano and one for synth/sampler) - and that's three sounds. But then you can invoke another "panel" at the same time, for another set of three sounds (piano, organ, synth). This makes for a total of six sounds playing at one time all layered to be sounded with any key on the keyboard. Now, when you do this, the sounds can sound a little "cluttered," and yes, you are likely going to run into polyphony problems - especially if you sustain pedal happy. But if done correctly, it's a nice and very powerful capability.
      You also have the option of splitting these six sounds in a variety of ways creating up to four distinct "zones" on the Nord Stage 3 keyboard. I recommend that you have a look at this particular section of a video I created which attempts to demonstrate all of this visually (the link will start you at 10 minutes, 44 seconds): czcams.com/video/VlzgEfmcrDE/video.htmlm44s. • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 2 lety

      Hello @Duane Hughes! Congrats on your new Stage 3! You can't save individual samples to the first part in song mode exactly. Samples are part of a larger group called a program. A program consists of two panels (A and B). Then in each panel, you have a choice of organ, piano and synth/sample. So, you have to first make a program that includes the sample you want to use, then you can assign that program to the first song part (button) in a given song in Song Mode.
      I recommend you watch this video next: czcams.com/video/VdNzg1SPWKs/video.html which will help you get to know the architecture. Then, after that, watch this video to help you learn how to isolate a sample starting from scratch using the synth engine: czcams.com/video/tEzCHdu-2Ak/video.html

      Hello @오제희 Sorry for the delay in this response. The programs between a Stage and an Electro are not compatible whatsoever. The samples can be moved between the keyboards and then reassigned to a program using the Nord Sound Manager or on the keyboard itself. There is no "quick and easy" way to accomplish this migration between the keyboards, however. You'll have to program all this manually, I'm afraid.
      You do have the option to "open" a bundle on your computer so that you can look inside and even extract samples from it. I have a video demonstrating that here: czcams.com/video/tIm41aQ7IDo/video.html

However, it will change behavior depending on the Nord keyboard it's connected to. For example, when you're connected to a Nord Electro, you don't get "synth Presets" as an option, but if you connect it to a Nord Stage 3, you will see "Synth Presets" as the Stage 3 supports these files. I have NE5D. Using the sound manager moving a program swaps location with other program creating a mess. I know you can use empty slots to move to then shuffle around but it seems awkward and cumbersome. But, on the keyboard itself I can just hit shift- organize and move the program (or sample) up and it doesn't "swap" locations, it just bumps everything down one peg.
    So I find it easier to reorder on the keyboard itself.
    Being that after adding programs or samples, it tends to smoosh them all together it's pretty much a hassle to find a clavinet you make say at the bottom of the list and move it up to your clavinet section up in the list, this moving whatever was there to the very bottom. It's hard to believe there isn't an "insert" feature for programs and samples. Am I missing something here?
    Also the setlist is pretty much easier and faster to do straight from the keyboard it seems.
    Any thoughts, is playing number puzzle game the only way to organize?

      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello @JJWalker. Thanks for your comment and your accurate observations about the Nord Sound Manager app versus the functionality on the keyboard. A couple of points on how I work around this particular issue of the "swap versus the insert."
      1) I always select the "organize" button in the Nord Sound Manager to get started. Then, like you mentioned, I make a bunch of empty space in the areas I'm working with to help avoid the cumbersome swap that happens.
      2) Using the "Dual View" option can really help when moving programs from one end of the list to the other as you can have the left view show the top of the list and the right view show the bottom (for example).
      3) I use the "duplicate" option when I want to make new programs from scratch.
      I also have a NE5 and I do tend to use the "Set List" option for gigs. But then again, if you organize your programs ahead of time, you essentially get the same thing that way. Incidently, the Nord Electro 6 has no such set list option so you are forced to use the regular program list as your set list. I made an entire video on that concept in fact: czcams.com/video/vZygjHhgMuE/video.html

    Great videos thanks. In the sample lib section it showes loads of samples unused. I assume this means the samples are in memory but not used by any synth patch (or program). Why would Nord need to fill the memory like this? Is it just to give you options for your own programming? If I have understood this correctly wouldn't these samples be able to be deleted from memory without affecting any of the synth programs...this would give you room to load either new samples or your own sample creations?

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 6 lety

      Hi Ian. Thanks for your questions. Regarding unused samples, you are correct - they are stored in memory but not used by any synth program. I don't know the exact reasons Nord chooses to load samples that are not in use by a program except perhaps for the reasons you also mentioned which is to provide options for your own programming and to make those samples available on the keyboard from the get go without having to take the extra effort and download them from the Nord website and upload them to the keyboard? And yes, you can delete any sample at any time using the Nord Sound Manager. Deleting a sample that is unused by a program will have no negative effect on any existing program. Deleting a sample that is in use by a program means that when you select that program on your Nord, it won't have a sample selected to sound and it will say "Sample not found" under the synth section.
      Removing unused samples will provide room for add'l samples available from the Nord website as well as provide room to put your own home-made sample creations. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

This may sound a rather silly question but coming from a computer perspective I always back up before tinkering.

      Hello @SmallGrayBox - Thanks for your question! So, as you already mentioned, the factory backup is readily available for download and with it, you can restore back to factory settings at any time. However, I would get in the habit of making a full backup[ of your keyboard from time to time which may also eventually include the custom programs you create along the way. You can store these backup snapshots as often as you like, and some people who have hundreds of programs they've created start to make backups by type/category so that they have a set specific to a type of gig they are doing or with a particular band they play with perhaps.
      On the Nord Electro 6, there is no dedicated set list option, so people are using the main program list as a way to create a set list: czcams.com/video/vZygjHhgMuE/video.html Once you have your set list established, you can then make a full backup. Hope that helps clarify things!

      @@MyKeysToMusic Thanks, So i can have whole different setups for the entire keyboard (bit like tuning a cars ECU in a way) a different set up and bulk download it to the keyboard. I love the idea of it doing incremental backups too. I also DJ and use Rekordbox but the odd thing with that is it makes multiple zip file back ups which can get confusing. So that's a need feature Nord has.
      Its great to know I can get a factory restart up from Nord's site so at least I can't mess anything up if I get lost in the menus. I love the elecro 6 because its nearly all tactile with draw bars, knobs and buttons. So I'm really excited and can't wait until mine arrives. Great tutorial and I'll be sure to be coming back to the last video for sure if I get stuck or lost in the software. 👍

    Say for example, I play in church and worship would consists of 5-6 songs. I was wondering is there a way to switch the relevant patches(piano patch, synth patch etc) for each song through a click-of-a-button. Hi Marc! If I want a purchase a bundle from someone with the same keyboard, does it get saved under programs or under banks? Also, if it is large like 20MB, do you have to erase something under programs?

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 6 lety

      Hi Mike, So a bundle will include the program and any "sound" in association with that program - so I guess the answer is "both" to your first question. It's likely that if you have a factory restored Nord keyboard and you want to add more "bundles" from a third party, you'll have to make room in either the piano area or the synth/sample area to accommodate that. But it really depends. If a bundle only contains programs in association with the organ, for example, all you need is open slots for the program (because there are no storage requirements for the organ engine). On the other hand, if you attempt to install a bundle that has programs that include a bunch of samples you don't already have on your Nord as well as a bunch of pianos you didn't already happen to have loaded, then you're possibly going to need room for all that (as well as a slot for the program itself).
      The good news is that it won't take you long to delete sounds/programs you are not interested in to make room for stuff that you are interested in (as demonstrated in the Sound Manager videos). Thanks again for your question and for watching!

      Hello @Vicki aubrey thanks for watching... Hmm - try adjusting your laptop resolution or use an external monitor that can show more pixels left to right. It sounds like the laptop screen doesn't have enough room to show both columns at 50%. When this happens (on Windows), it takes away from the right side first. So, I think it's just because your screen isn't showing enough pixels (resolution). Adjust the size if you can.

      Thomas - I think this is a particularly good idea actually. The keyboards come complete with programs and samples likely to allow the first-time user or person doing a demo in a music store the ability to hear a wide-range of sounds and to provide an impression that there is a "lot under the hood" (which there is). However, there may not be a strong reason to leave it chock-full in some cases. Removing what you don't need, helps in finding what you do. 👍

    • @MyKeysToMusic

      Hello Jeshua! The Organ settings are stored in the "Program" section of the Nord Sound manager, but you don't see them called out with any kind of specifics. There are no samples associated with the organ engine either so, that's why it doesn't have its own section. FYI the effects settings are also stored in the program section.
      If you want to see the details of the organ settings, you can consider having a look at this program created specifically to "read" your program files (after they are exported from the Nord Sound Manager) so that you can reference all the details. If you have a Nord Stage 2 or 3, this could be an interesting option for you to explore: czcams.com/video/1vgHlBPLeH0/video.html

      @@jeshuacaceres4199 Well, I would love to help out with this, but the Nord Sound Manager doesn't allow for "sound design" or editing like this. I recommend you watch a few of my videos where we focus on the Organ and dial in a few songs such as this: czcams.com/video/K6FlcfBT29U/video.html and this: czcams.com/video/UD75MVVnRKQ/video.html

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před rokem

      @@jeshuacaceres4199 There is no separate name for the organs. However, you can rename the programs which include settings for the organs. So just as a reminder, a program contains settings for the Organ, Piano, Synth, the Extern area, along with a few other things like transposition and output settings. So, the Organ options you select are stored within the program. The Nord Sound Manager allows you to change the program name, the program category, and its position in the program list. It also allows you to redefine which piano from the piano engine and which sample from the synth engine is associated with the program. You can also define which song uses which program. You also have the ability to swap samples/pianos across various sections depending on the context of what you are working within the Nord Sound Manager. But that's about it.

      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 4 lety

      Hi Terelldavis. A:11 is the very first program you come to. Zeros are not used anywhere on the number system for the Nord programs. So, you won't find A:01 anywhere.
      In fact, only numbers; 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are used as the foundation for the program numbers system in the Nord. (Not to be confused with "Synth Presets" or the sample listing in the synth engine which use a traditional numbering system starting with 1.)
      *So, the programs are numbered like this below:*
      (The letters represent the "bank" and the numbers represent the number/location within the bank).
      A:11, A:12, A:13, A:14, A:15
      A:21, A:22, A:23, A:24, A:25
      A:31, A:32, A:33, A:34, A:35
      A:41, A:42, A:43, A:44, A:45
      A:51, A:52, A:53, A:54, A:55
      B:11, B:12, B:13, B:14, B:15
      B:21, B:22, B:23, B:24, B:25
      B:31, B:32, B:33, B:34, B:35
      B:41, B:42, B:43, B:44, B:45
      B:51, B:52, B:53, B:54, B:55
      C:11, C:12, C:13, C:14, C:15
      C:21, C:22, C:23, C:24, C:25
      C:31, C:32, C:33, C:34, C:35
      C:41, C:42, C:43, C:44, C:45
      C:51, C:52, C:53, C:54, C:55
      Etc.
      Now as far as missing sounds, that will be harder to troubleshoot from this end. If you're at a point where you don't have your own backup and want to start over, you could consider reverting to a factory default install found on the Nord Website. Of course, you'd lose whatever sounds you have in place today. But you'd likely be back on firm ground with everything if you did that.
      Good luck - wish I could help with a definite answer as to what it going on.

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 4 lety

      Hi Coral Pink. Thanks for your question. There are a lot of factors at play here. There is the overall gain/input during the recording. There is how much of a sample you decided to use (start and endpoints). There's the factor of how close to the original sample are you mapping your keys? In other words, if you use a single recorded sound on C4 and no other samples, the further you get away from C4, the more degraded the sound will be. Have you checked out my video on sampling a steel drum yet? You may gain some knowledge on the process if you haven't' already seen it: czcams.com/video/dn1oAc0VOtE/video.html. Technically speaking, you should be able to get fairly close if not spot on to the original. Make sure you don't have the filter setting on with your Nord Electro while playing the sample and be sure to adjust your envelope too on the Nord. These will influence the sample along the way of course. Good luck and report back if you can.

      @@coralpink2419 - So glad you got it working! About your question. Are you asking if there is another keyboard in the marketplace where you can sample sounds, load them up and play them back on the keyboard? If that's the case, there are a variety of keyboards that can play homemade samples such as the Korg MS1 micro sampler Sampling Keyboard, Prophet X from Sequential, and the Roland FA Series, just to name a few.

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello @Rémy EA So if you are missing a sound/sample that you deleted, then the keyboard will report it as missing. To be more specific, if you delete a piano sample, when you go to that program on your keyboard it will say "Piano Not Found" and if you were to play the keyboard with the piano engine on, you will hear nothing from it. The same holds true for synth engine. When you delete a sample that was assigned to a program and you go to that program on your keyboard, it will say: "Sample Not Found" and you won't hear anything out of that panel for the synth engine.
      Also, note that you can always put the sample back and relink it to the original program without having to start everything from scratch. Hope that helps clarify things.

    • @MyKeysToMusic
      @MyKeysToMusic  Před 6 lety

      Hi David. Thanks for your question. Well, this is actually a very good question because it offers a chance to explore a few different options. Option 1 is to backup your entire keyboard using the standard backup feature. This will of course back up "everything" stored on the keyboard including all piano samples, the samples from the sample library, organ settings, and general system settings. This kind of backup is more to know that everything on your keyboard in whatever state it is in, is backed up. This is not necessarily the best method to back up a few of your own creations on the fly. For that read on.
      Your individual creations are all stored in an area called a program. The program determines all the settings you have invoked for the Organ, Piano and Synth (in the case of the Nord Stage 3) as well as their associated samples such as which piano sample is selected and which synth sample is selected (if any). Based on this information, the part you really want to backup is the program.
      So, option 2 is to simply "Upload" a program (or several programs) to your computer via the Sound Manager. This will preserve all the settings you have edited to make your sounds come alive and by doing it from the perspective of the program, it will capture anything having to do with how you've influenced the organ, piano, and synth as well as things like the keyboard split points invoked and all the effects used for that program. However, it does not attempt to backup the actual samples used for the program, it merely backs up the name of which one was used.
      Option 3 is to backup your programs to a "Bundle." This does something similar to option 2 except that it takes multiple programs and presents them in a single file as a bundle. It also (and here's something really important) takes the extra step to copy the Piano Sample/Synth Sample used for a given program and also put it in that file. So, bundles are MUCH LARGER files because they include not only the program settings but they also include the actual samples used for that program as well. This bundle option is probably the way to go that will guarantee your creation is preserved in the exact state you saved it in no matter what happens because it includes the associated piano/synth samples used at the time you saved it.
      Tip: If you create set lists (Electro) or songs (Stage 3) and back those up as a bundle, it will preserve the the names of your songs, the programs used in those songs (organ, piano, and synth settings) as well as any samples associate associated with the programs.
      Hopefully, this is all making sense. For further clarification, you can watch my video on the Nord Sound manager Part 2 found here: czcams.com/video/4Z3YT7T9XD0/video.html (if you haven't already watched it). In that video, I attempt to explain how files work in the Nord ecosystem and these concepts above are explained in pretty good detail.
      Also, if you create your own samples using the Nord Sample Editor, those creations should be stored separately at the time you create them. Then later, if you use your own samples in the keyboard itself, you can back those up using the bundle technique with option 3 above.
      Good luck and thanks for watching!
