Santana is a beast on the guitar. My intro to him was at Woodstock in '69 when he did Soul Sacrifice. God, I am so glad that is saved on video for all time!

The original song was by Timmy Thomas (1973) and equally rhythmic. The lyrics are so poignant and still sadly relevant to today...
We will never see/ hear music like this again once the true greats of the 60s & 70s leave us. Music today definitely lacks a lot. This was a once-in-a-lifetime era and i feel sooo lucky to have been a part of it.

This song is as relevant(more so today), than it was when it was first released 50 some years ago. Steve Winwood is a brilliant musician, sadly underrated. Very happy that Carlos Santana gave him the spotlight on this song. Both excellent musicians!

Posted this 5-1-24 on my FB page after watching the protests on college campuses in the US. I wonder how many times we have to go down this road of 'living together peacefully' to learn it's really quite simple...musicians have been doing it for years--good folks are good, others are different. Wish we could again admire the 'positive' and give no attention to the 'negative'. Either can only thrive when fed.

Many people don't realize that Winwood played with Fania All-Stars back in the 70s, and at the same time was recording with Jamaican artistes in London and Kingston. He is in my humble opinion the greatest musician out of England by miles.
