Is this REAL!? Paragliding in the Dominican Republic

- In our first video from Jarabacoa, we showed you the most incredible UTV adventure through the tremendous mountains of the Dominican Republic. In this video, we're bringing you the most adventurous activity you can find in this area - paragliding.
Somehow between glass 2 and 3 of white wine at Jamaca De Dios the day before, we decided that parasailing off the top of the mountain would be a GREAT idea...and to be honest, it was. What. A. Morning!! A quick 30 minute drive through the chilly pine forests took us to a lookout far above the town of Jarabacoa and WAY higher than Jamaca De Dios, the most famous scenic restaurant spot in the area.
We booked a morning flight with Flying Tony (www.flyindr.com/) and it was an incredible experience. At under $60 USD per person, we highly recommend it. The whole experience lasts about 15 minutes from jump off to landing in a field near town.
All that crazy adventure meant we were starving by the time it was all done, so we met up with @DelightfulTravellers at a highly-recommended BBQ spot, Parador Corazon de Jesus for some delicious ribs (paradorcorazondejesus.com/). This was by far our favorite meal of the entire trip - DO NOT miss this spot if you head to Jarabacoa.

Great video! It only "does not look like Dominican Republic" to tourists or foreigners that only see the beach advertisements. The Dominican Republic is mountainous country that also happens to have beaches. There are Domininicans living in these mountain towns that have never seen the beach.
By the way, Dominican Republic also has the lowest point in the Caribbean, Lago Enriquillo.
Love your videos. Keep them coming!!!
That’s so true! You’re absolutely right. The Dominican Republic that is advertised in the US and much of the world is really just punta cana! It is almost unbelievable when you get here to experience the magnitude of diverse regions and towns. We absolutely love it! Lago Enriquillo is definitely on our list - we hear it has crocodiles?!? Crazy!!
@@VoyagerGuru Unfortunately, most of the hotels are own by foreigners (U.S, Europe). Yes, is the only place in the Caribbean that American Crocodiles are in their natural habitat. That area also has the Bahoruco mountain range, more wonderful beaches, and a magnetic pole.
Wow can’t wait to go - that sounds so beautiful and interesting. Thanks for the tips 🙏
Wow the paragliding looked like a blast! I think we might have to try that next time 😳- Trevor
🤣🤣 YES!! We are down to do it again if you join us ;) - maren
Oh Wow! So awesome to see you again today! The Paragliding was Unbelievably Awesome!!! Did you guys check it out too?? Love to see a video of you Paragliding! ❤️ Your friends are Cool, like and subscribed. Cheers from Halifax!

That would be Great! I will be cheering them on for sure. It looked positively Amazing watching you...I had goosebumps...Wishing I was there Paragliding too. Cheers! PS Loved, Loved the Japanese House you all stayed at. Wow...Gorgeous home and area...I would never have guessed you were in the D.R. I haven't been to tge D.R yet, but I'm more convinced we will be there asap. 🙂
Aww yes! You have to come to the DR- it’s really an amazing island with so much to offer. Haha I had goosebumps too 🤣🤣. Took me about 10 seconds to realize what was happening before h realized I was hundreds of feet off the ground!! Worth the adrenaline rush ;)
Great video guys and also informative. The DR has 5 microclimates, these ecosystems some are unique to DR. There are 128 protected areas, divided into National Parks and ecosystems. In addition, there is Jaragua-Bahoruco-Enriquillo Biosphere Reserve, as well as the Silver Bank Whale Sanctuary. It's a constant battle to protect these areas from land squatters, farmers, illicit coal making "entrepreneurs" from the border. The Ribera Country Club in Jarabacoa is a great place to eat do zipline and they have now glamping along the river. Pino Criollo (Pinus occidentalis) is a pine tree endemic to the island and cousin to the North American species, the most common tree of the island. Valle Nuevo, Constanza will probably confuse more, there you are not in DR anymore. Blessings, you are doing a terrific job.
Thank you so much for the amazing information!!! This is so useful - I love it. We definitely want to visit all those places :)
Hey please could you tell me where to find the glamping on the river?

Haha!! Thank you so much for your comment!! It took me about 10 seconds to realize what was happening before the fear and adrenaline kicked in 🤣🤣 - maren
I see, have like two year that i will do it. How was the view? How long do you fly? Dominican Republic are not just beaches . Dominican Republic has it all.
The Dominican republics really does have it all!! The view was incredible - I even saw a waterfall! It was surprisingly peaceful (once I got over the nerves). The flight was about 10-12 minutes and cost about 3500 DOP each😊
@@VoyagerGuru Thanks!!! I hope guys you keep having fun here!! That you can visit more places and remember that our more treasure are not beaches, rivers, mountains or food. It is the people!!! So keep making videos and i will enjoy with you!!!
Thank you so much Richard! We absolutely will!! Can’t wait to share more of our experiences with you! ❤️
Fantastic views and editing on this video! Wow you guys are brave but it did look fun. Are you staying on in the DR and are you doing anymore trips with Anna and Trevor? Looking forward to your next video.
Thank you so much!! We appreciate your support ❤️. We actually live most of the year in Cabarete! We absolutely love it. Came in 2020, bought a place and never left 🤣🤣. We have a few trips coming up with Anna and Trevor- we’re trying to convince them to stay forever 😉. Can’t wait to share more adventures with you!
@@VoyagerGuru That sounds fabulous. We are post kids so thinking about a warmer climate during winter months. We have been seeing a lot of deals in Cabarete and LT. Both are beautiful so we need to try it out even if just for a shorter visit at first as we typically do AI in Punta Cana (and other places). Also any suggestions on learning Spanish (starting Duolingo now)?
No hotels in jarabacoa? I go there all the time and they do have plenty hotels in Jarabacoa, I know at least 20 of them.
Hi Cesar, thanks for your comment! There are definitely many small hotels and bed and breakfast style accommodations, but there are no big hotels or big brands like a Marriott, or even Bahia principe, for example. For people watching from the US or Canada, who may be used to punta cana, this may be surprising. Also, as a note we found it more cost affective as a group to book a villa - the hotels seemed a bit overpriced for what they offer.
👁👁👍
Thank you! ❤️
Who did you book this with?
Hey there! Thanks for reaching out! We booked this with Flying Tony - it was a great experience!
