- I've been wanting to get a chase cam for a while to get a different angle when flying. I went for the PPG Smoke chase cam and I've been really impressed with it. I'm really please with the stuff I've been getting out of it. The late flight this day definitely pushed the GoPro's low light ability but that angle 😍 Good luck in the draw!

I've been looking at this sort of thing for when I'm flying... bit early for me as I've only done 1 day of wing handling and theory at Winglands so far, but good to be prepared! Which GoPro model is it you've mounted as the chase cam?
Chase cams look cool. Never really thought of getting one untill now.

Great video. Is there any good way to stop it from flying into your prop/engine with every landing?
David Garthe sure is. You can lengthen the line a couple of ft longer than your glider lines. That way it’ll swing j to the ground before it gets chance to get to you. It looks like it swings in hard but it really is t that bad if you kill your engine up high so your prop isn’t spinning and keep that brake pressure on after you’ve flared and touched down. Looks like you can get some amazing shots - bale slaloms?! :D not sure how well it'll fare on a touch and go with the engine running though... Be interesting to see!

Nice video again Daniel! Looks like an awesome product for some neat angles. As long as you land with your engine off, you should be ok? It looked like it smashed into the back of the motor on the video, I guess you would have to be unlucky for it to smash into the prop and damage it? But what happens if it snags something, is there a weak link to release it if it gets caught on something? Although you would have to be flying very close to something for that to happen, but just a thought? Other than that looks great 👍
Thanks mate! Yea it’s advised to kill your engine to let your prop stop spinning or you could lengthen it a couple more ft so it hits the ground before it gets a chance to swing in. It does look fast but it’s not too bad. I feel like Ive seen some mention a quick release for any potential snags somewhere before but as factory it doesn’t have that feature. It’s definitely something to be aware of flying close to trees, hedges etc. For the most part I’m very conscious that it’s there but haven’t had any issues with it yet. I definitely don’t fly with it all the time but when I do it’s been great 👌 anyway, good luck in the draw!

kberry3065 glad I could offer as a prize 😁 I’ve actually sold that motor now and the prop was still going strong. It was really solid. Obviously there’s the things I mentioned in the video about it not spinning up as quick because it was a little heavier but recently which had come to light check that if you motor is still within its warranty that the prop doesn’t void your warranty, usually the manufacturers will have a list of approved props.
