That’s awesome , I have schizophrenia , and working out has always helped me, I feel better and it’s like my release and like my therapy
I do the same. Extreme exercise is helpful for me and required in order for me to sleep properly or even at all.
This is so impressive and inspiring! I love your channel so much. Seeing you also deal with suicidal ideation to being able to have joy and experiences like this is invaluable to me. Running and hiking have definitely helped me and one day maybe I’ll be able to do an ultramarathon :) thank you for everything!!
I don’t know how I would get from one day to the next without having an ultra in my sights. Congratulations!
I have a restless mind, and walking in nature is the best thing.
It’s great to see you channeling your energy into something healthy and productive and taking the focus off of your mental health difficulties! It exhausts your delusions and prevents them from rearing their ugly heads! Every extra mile is your own success and those delusions can’t take them away front you!
Legend! Esp carrying your toddler over the finish. 💕
Teddy has gotten so big! How adorable 💗
I have Bipolar Type II. I’ve really been struggling. I forgot how much running helps me. You reminded me. Thank you- I feel like I can see some light again.
Lauren, that was amazing to watch. I love that you have running. It's such a wonderful sport.
Wow thats incredible :o
Never realised you were also a runner after following your channel for so many years, this definitely put a big smile on my face! I've found that running is the jumpstart I need to find some small spark of hope when I start drifting into those dark patches. So cool to see you out there in your flow state!
Cool! Congrats Lauren - and lovely you got to cross the finish line with your kid :)!
I can run two km. Then I stop to meditate and do yoga. Lol. Then I run another two km home. Like by the (Bow River?) there. No way would I ever run by that. I would be there practicing yoga breath and working out a back bend while trying to work on my balance. Then when I felt that I knew the river a bit better I would back away and start to run again.
Gotta say Lauren. You and Baby at the finish line. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you Lauren for dragging the camera along with you. The nature was Astounding. Loved the water Have you ever gotten Symptoms while on a run??
Congratulations on tackling such a cool rugged sport.
50km, how is that even possible to do in a day on foot? I could probably never do that in what's left of my lifetime!
Good going Lauren!!
I've never seen someone so happy while running!. Way to go. What an accomplishment!!
Hi! I found your channel a week ago. Thank you for educating us so much about mental health, and also encouraging me to keep running!
Love your content and channel, on abilify injection myself and put on 40kg in weight that stopped me running. I have started the journey again after being on TV and writing a book smile every mile - signed up for half marathon and hope to get back to ultras - you inspired me to keep taking my medication and stay on injection and see schizoaffective disorder for what it really is. Was pretty manic in the past running all day - thank you and well done 🏃♂️❤️
Congratulations 🎉 on finishing such a long race!! Wow!! You inspire me. I love your channel and look forward to each and every video.
So hopeful and inspiring.❤
Awesome! I would have been done at the first set of hills. Your tenacity (in this and in general) is inspiring.
This so inspiring Lauren. You're quite the skilled athlete. Such endurance is rare.
I used to run when I was younger and it totally was like meditating, such a peaceful time. You did awesome, where you were running is beautiful
Wow I've never been much of a runner, best I could ever do at my fittest was two oval laps for soccer training warm-ups & walking/hiking the longest I've done is a 7km hike and that was before chronic pain. You're amazing!! 👏
Amazing Lauren! 💚 Thank you for the wonderful scenery too. I have found that when I have pushed myself physically I have slipped in to psychosis so I do gentle walks in nature instead. Also have quiet time. Like you said find what works for you.
I wish I could look as fresh and smiling as you after 53 km... when I walk to the nearby supermarket :D
Go girl! When I learned to belly breath it helped me tremendously...I've never tried ultra running.but it sounds like something that beats you down and you get back up and try again.i used to run cross country and track keep running!! I love the smells and being around people that way.
Wow!
Ultras are fantastic. Such a great deep dive into what your thoughts go to when things get hard.
This is the most beastly thing I have ever seen! I can't believe you pulled this off, inspirational really!! I also thought to start preparing for a marathon to raise MH awareness, but I can hardly do 2 km on the treadmill. So, I'm not really keeping that goal in mind. This is why I say what you have done is unreal! It shows how strong your mental strength is!!! Keep Going!!!!!! 😊
Your'e a champion Lauren.
This video is bringing me to tears. So happy for you and in awe of what you're accomplishing!
Wow super😃🥰
This is such an inspiration! I really liked the idea of “Pushing past the hardest parts of dealing with your mental health…” such a good video!
dude!!!!!! good for you!!!!!!!!!!!!! and congratulations!!!!!!
Congratulations, quite the accomplishment!!
The important thing is that even the days following this, you are fine, it's still an important stress for the body.
Good for you!!!
As you should 👏
Doing sports is indeed the best thing I can do for my mental health. It really helps every time.
Good video👍
YES!!! I'm so excited that you shared this!!! I just finished Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins and it was life changing. I've been running for 3 weeks! It's helps every aspect of my life!
An oustanding achievement and with a beautiful smile on a face
Wow!! Amazing job!! 😀😀
Go girl!
Amazing!! I can’t run anymore due to injury, but I’ve realized walking long distances has the same calming effect on me. Recently I went on vacation to the beach, plugged in my headphones and walked and walked. It felt soo good!!
How do you deal with med induced dry mouth while running? That always holds me back.
So inspirational! 😮😢🎉
Mad, Mad props to you Lauren! You are such an inspiration to those who deal with mental health issues through exercising and just focusing on getting through each day with such determination and strength! May you continue to be such a bright light for others in their own fight
Congratulations! I enjoyed running when I was younger. (Farthest I ran was only a 10k though!) 50k is amazing!!
proud of you
❤❤❤❤❤
this video made me so happy. thank you.
Wow, me too! ...I've been a distance runner with 'schizoaffective' for 46 yrs. Trails do my head real good; the peripheral vision changes are just the right pace, and the trees are so grounding. Love it! (My 20 marathons are behind me now, but I've made the age-appropriate distance-shortening; it's still just as good!
Awesome!!
This great you should be so proud of yourself. I got into lifting weights in the first year finding out that I have a mental illness. I have been doing off an on for 28 years because of shoulder surgery. I had four of them. I been exercising for the past twelve years and it’s been great. I have the same exact mental illness as you. I’m bi polar types to. Be proud ❤
Just fantastic🎉
Looks like a lot of fun!

This Video is inspiring. It makes me want to get out in nature and go for walks again.

🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘⭐️❤️❤️❤️
Nice job , May God heal you 💚💙💛
❤
50k?!?!? That’s amazing! Great job!
If the planet earth can heal itself in time no matter what we do to it then so can I.
you all are beautiful.
when i was 35 i would run.
Daaymn. How long have you been running for? I too have severe mental illness and have been a runner for years. I got to a marathon once and it killed my hips. That's crazy!
😮❤
My bottom jaw has just hit the floor 😲. That’s some ultra extreme hardcore stuff. Don’t know if I’d ever do something like that. I bet Your leg muscles are Really protesting now and are asking for a lot more TLC at the moment……. ⚛️☮️🌏
What medicine do you take to be able to run that far? The medicine they have me on is sedative so it's difficult to do that
Are you able to do this because of a decrease in medication? I used to run ultras but have battled with discomfort and fatigue since being on them.
I love this video. And you're very beautiful. Thank you
Hang on halucinations are normal for long distance running. Are you sure your not low on certain vitamins?
Just found your channel..son is 27 and we are trying to get him have an evaluation. He thinks he is being followed by drowns, police & bad people who think he coukd be undercover cop. Qw though he was living w. Girlfriend the last 5months but I guess the last couple have been in car. He would stop by the house leave his dirty clothes to wash& eat, but he would come whike we were at work. He quit his job at sometime.Saturday he came home telling us not to talk in house that he was being followed & phones bugged because some bad people thought he was undercover cop..so he literally thinks EVERYCAR is either undercover cop or bad people(cartel)spying on him in car or drown. But if he won't go in on his own accord there's no help until he says he wants to hurt himself or others & we really don't want police involved because that's part of his trauma..
Keeping you in my thoughts. I went through this at age 28 and I ended up in psych hospital. Thankfully after getting on medication I recovered instantly and now own my own business making candles. The hard part is getting into the hospital, I just ended up there without being aware of where I was. I wish I could be of more help.
U seem normal
I got schizo effective after getting lyme disease
Do you still run these? I used to, but the meds somehow make me keep having tendon issues.
I'd love to have a chat with you sometime. You're the 5th person I've come across with severe mental health issues who "runs far".... I have some crazy ideas to try to advocate for different categories for us... Let me know what you think?
Don't let schizophrenia hold you back you can accomplish almost anything.
That would make my voices much worse
okay so literally everybody runs so imma start running 2
Hi Lauren, Running a marathon is a waste of time. it's hard on the body, plus having to put on sunscreen repeatedly. Think about the wear down on your body parts too. If it keeps you sane, then go for it. Plus you have alot of time on your hands and you are content creators rather than employed at a job. Maybe you might want to try a Cardio Kickboxing class so you can integrate back into society better.
Running is better for your mental heath than classes. There is a clarity it gives you that you don't get from anything else. I can't run very often because of knee issues but when I do my mind is clear. Also.mental health issues can make being with other people stressfu, a run on my own can make it easier to integrate with society. OK ultra marathons aren't for everyone but some running is great for mental health.
