Not only this, but Dimash OPENED the annual 14 week competition show I AM SINGER with THIS performance as a special invitee and virtual unknown to both his competitors and the audience. He was the first non-Chinese Singer ever invited and the youngest ever competitor to this point. He became an overnight sensation requiring bodyguards thru the show's duration. It is the most viewed talent show in the world and was a springboard for his worldwide audience and fan base. SOS became his signature song. He is simply the most talented and skilled singer on our planet.

I’ve been following Dimash for 1 year and I can’t stop listening to him every day. In my 69 years of life, I’ve never heard another artist sing like him. Yet in Italy and in the world there are many, but no one sings like him.
With the song S.O.S. you witnessed, not the performance of a song, but you witnessed a mystical experience, a work of art, a one-way trip to the world of Dimash, a new and unknown place from which you will never want to return.

This was not a competition for amateurs in China. It was a competition of singing professionals, very difficult to qualify for. Dimash was a wild card competitor since he was foreign, well known at home in Kazakhstan, and the youngest competitor at age 22. They made him go first for quick elimination. Ha! It didn’t work out that way. He was an overnight success. This performance was the first performance of the 2017 season of “I Am A Singer” in China.p
The other contestants are all professional performers and they are excellent.
That was incredable; but you haven''t heard but about 10% of his talent in this song. But, overnight after this performance over 600 million Chinese shut down their internet by getting online to find out more about DIMASH. He was a superstar overnight with this one performance and needed bodyguards everywhere he went in China afterwards. If you react to more of his performances you will find he is totally unbelievable as singer and performer, and learn he has a lot more talents you are not yet aware of.
Dimash was 22 in this performance. He turns 30 this year in May. He just keeps getting better and better!

Other worldly ... The way he can emote a song, even when he doesn't speak the language (such as this song in French) is magical! You are definitely in for an adventure exploring Dimash's masterpieces, and most of his performances are just that: masterpieces!
Dimash’s fans (dears) number around 2 billion worldwide. They cross nationalities, cultures, religions, sexes, ages. I’m not sure why his voice holds such power. I KNOW how good it is, but the hold he has over his fans seems almost supernatural. I know. I’ve been hooked since last May. It’s unusual for me. I like music, but am not particularly into it, am not a musician, am a senior citizen who, while certainly appreciating Dimash’s beauty, am not a crushed up fan girl. I can’t explain it. I’m a retired 66 year grandmother teacher from rural Alabama USA, yet I am more of a fan of Dimash than when I was a rockin’ 70s teenager with mad crushes on the teen idols of the day.

You have been Dimashified! It takes more than 2 or 3 or 4 songs to get the measure of his talent so you think maybe after a dozen songs you will get a broader picture of what he can do. Then after a dozen songs you begin to realize he will just keep on surprising you with each new offering. One of his greatest virtues as a performer is that he 'genre-less' and is not owned by a record company. He is self determining and in complete control of what and how he does what he does. He shares those attributes with Diana Ankudinova (her name will keep coming up as they seem to share the same fan base when you listen to a few of her songs, you will see why). Just remember that was in 2017. Wait until you see him now. He can sing any genre he chooses from opera, pop opera, rockish, blues, rap, ballads, pop etc. He has only gotten better and better. Check out his performance of Opera 2 from 2017 as well. This was just the very tip of the iceberg.

This was an enjoyable reaction. The song "S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse)" is originally from a French-Canadian musical called 'Starmania' from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. "I Am A Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. It is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds judge the show by points each week.
At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the show's history and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a 'wildcard' competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash's mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition.
This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest, given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th for his rendition of "Adagio," a song made famous by Lara Fabian.
First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall; however, he lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of "Uptown Funk." Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China.
As part of the contest, all contestants/performers are required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang "Unforgettable Day," a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh and in Chinese, even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition.
Here is the order of Dimash's performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11.

I have never been a true fan of any singer. But Dimash changed that. I can‘t imagine anymore what my life was like without his music. 🥰 And it wasn’t even that long ago, that I discovered him myself. 😂
