Welcome to the World of Dimash. He is 28yo, 6'3", and has a 7 0ctave + 2 semi-tones range (C1 - D8, sustained!) He uses his mixed and head voices with total control (not falsetto). Dimash is classically-trained since the age of 5. He sings in 15 different languages, and plays 7 different languages. His mother is an opera singer, and his father is a pop singer, both well known in their own country. He is a very humble young man, as well, and calls his fans his "Dears". Dimash is not a man of small stature. He is 6'3" and has been training his voice since childhood. Both of his parents sing - his mother sings opera. We love and appreciate Dimash ❤

The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and in 2017 made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to CZcams ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won).

"falsetto" is only a fraction of his upper range. He sings full supported soprano, and is a master of whistle register.
Full supported soprano IS falsetto. There is nothing weak about singing in falsetto. Opera singers will never tell you that a soprano sings in headvoice. At a certain register there is a break and you need to flip into the next. Not the same note for everyone but approximate area. Dimash can pull his headvoice up far before having to flip. He's also very good at being able to reinforce his falsetto but that doesn't mean that it isn't falsetto.

Dimash won the Slavic Bazaar Grand Prix in 2015. I believe this was a guest appearance after his competing in the Chinese reality show I Am Singer in 2017.

Dimash is 6’3, athletic, handsome and as humble and sweet and respectful as anyone could imagine. I’ve flown to two different countries to see him live which was amazing. I am 77 year old U.K. lady. I’ve listened every day for five years. Dimash sings lots of styles from opera to rap and does them all superbly. And he dances, models, directs, plays seven instruments and speaks Kazakh, Russian and is getting pretty good in English now and can speak some phrases in mandarin. The newest latest language is Japanese for a song called Okinaide which is absolutely gorgeous. He surprises with every new venture.
You're just reaching middle age! I'm just a few years younger, and flew from the US to Dubai for his concert this past March 25th. Can't wait to see him again. It was an absolutely fabulous event!

This guy is a dolphin... his high notes are not measured on the musical scale they are in Hertz... you will see. About the song is not from him, is a Canadian Songwriter for Opera Rock, is about someone getting mad. Also, the legend says is a "complicated" song since some of the singers that sang it died very young (accidents and diseases - check Daniel Balovaine, Gregory Lemarchal and so) ... anyway the most important thing is HOW he made himself, training, breaking down his own body and studying exactly what can and cannot do. His parents are singers/composers even the cat is good at music..!!! Also, Dimash is well known for his modesty and commitment to fans (he calls them Dears). As those below have said, though he can look petite in videos, it's just because the stages are so big! He is 6ft 3, so plenty of room for those longer than usual vocal cords! He sings 8 octaves in 13 languages and plays 8 instruments. Hes been referred to as an alien for yrs. 😁. He played a sold out show New York in 2019 right before Covid hit to 13,000 where fans came from 68 countries to see him! No other artist could do that. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He started his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 15 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. "S.O.S" is a song from the mid '70's, from the Québec-France 's "Starmania" pop-rock musical. I have been a fan since then, and yes, I am that old. Michel Berger (France) composed the musical score and Luc Plamondon (Québec) wrote the the lyrics. Luc Plamondon is amongst the best French speaking lyricists of his generation. René Angélil asked him if he could write an entire album for Céline and he did. It came out in 1991 and is called "Dion Chante Plamondon". Almost all songs from "Starmania" became contemporary classics in the French musical repertoire and Céline Dion covers a few of them when on tour, like "Ziggy" and " Le Blues du Businessman".
