- Chris Cornell was the reason I started singing. I'm absolutely devastated that he's gone. I still can't believe it.
It took me quite a while to think of a song of his to cover in tribute to him, and honestly, I'll probably do another video because one song just isn't enough. But, for now, here's his incredible song "Sunshower," which he wrote for the soundtrack to "Great Expectations" in the late 90's after Soundgarden dismantled.

I've listened to every tribute track I could find since Chris died. I'm so tired of hearing celebrities (who only know him for Black Hole Sun) do mediocre attempts. Sunshower is one of his best songs, it both soothes and tears my heart open at the same time.
And this performance is THE best tribute I've heard to Chris. Thank you for honoring him and reminding us that his music lives on thru other voices that channel his grace.

Agreed Jeph. Chris was one of the voices I could always turn to to soothe any heartache or pain I had growing up. The huge void left here on Earth without him can never be filled. But you Ryan Quinn are just excellent enough to make that void a bit smaller. And there's not many alive that can.
side note: you should've won the Voice. You're still one of my top vocalists to ever be on the show.

I know what you mean. I have watched nearly all and was overly disappointed in the scope of songs people chose. This is definitely hands down the best tribute I have seen to date. Ryan, unlike the other tributes, puts soul into the song, and feels it. Singing any of Chris' songs is incredibly difficult, and Sunshower is among the top to get right, and Ryan definitely does this.

The soul of music lives within Ryan Quinn and everything he does is with great love for the artist in which he emulates. I was listening to Cornell back in the Ultra Mega Ok days years before he was a household name . I knew he was special and remember thinking people wont be pulling this guys vocals off in tributes or covers . After finding this guy ( Ryan ) I was wrong he can actually do Chris's songs almost to perfection.

This song is one of my most cherished memories that I will take with me to my grave... To see and listen to Chris sing this song in a small venue here in Austin was a dream come true. Chris's lyrics got me through a lot of my most painful times. He still does... I'm most grateful to him for that... There were times when Kim's guitar and Matt's drumming got me through hard times along with Chris as well... I love them all! That was an outstanding Tribute! Thank you so much!
