    Also, cracks in the slab are normal, like you said. Your slab should have tension wires running through it to keep it together. Not all builders do that but most do

    TIP: you could have bought 1 or 2 cheap square plastic fans and placed it on a window{s} as an exhaust. That would have taking care of all that dust in the air and help not allowing it to settle back onto the floor again. About the cracks, 90 percent of homes have them in South Florida they all have them due to the sandy soil. In Texas is also a sure thing due to soil composition and settlement. The Earth is in constant movement and rain water does not help either. We just don't want those cracks to AFFECT the integrity of walls once that crack line runs up your walls on brick/Stucco/Cinder-block depending if its a hairline it can be costly to repair.

    Do you have any suggestions about patching drywall? We just moved into our new house and our drywall is super thin (I guess it is 🤦‍♀️) because it scratches easily. We already have gouges from our dressers and furniture. We also have a big hole in my son's wall since the previous owners never installed a door stop and the door got opened all the way and the knob went through the drywall 🤦‍♀️. So easy diy drywall repair?

    • @Jonathan_Grider
      @Jonathan_Grider Před 3 lety

      There are tons of videos on CZcams on how to repair drywall. But I have found the best way to “strengthen” a door hole like that is to put a 1x2 block behind the hole, secure it on either side, and patch or mud over the hole. It’ll add a little rigidity to the wall behind the doorknob so that won’t happen again. In our last house the drywall was 1/4” thick, throughout the entire house. 🤦‍♂️ but I guess it was a way to save on building costs.

    Those cracks are not bad I’ve seen new houses get poured in Wilmington nc with cracks and it has to be wider than half a inch to be a issue

    Just glue down some crack prevention membrane.. so if floor moves crack don’t go to your tiles... Depends on manufacturer I believe it’s up to 3/8 to 1/2 inch of concrete movement

      Definitely clickbait. Just like on the HGTV shows they always find a huge problem that could ruin the project. Just "reality" tv bull. I hope this isn't a sign of what the channel will become.

      Where is the clickbait? The foundation is indeed cracked.

      @@BernardAguiar Think people forget he's a DIY'er and not a professional tradesman. There are foundations where you find cracks it can indicate serious problems, including a foundation that is crumbling and can make the whole house a total loss, but the average person who has never worked with concrete isn't going to be able to tell the difference. Assuming the worse is actually a normal reaction for most people... and he did Google and get pros to tell him the difference rather than just assuming his initial reaction was correct. So problem solved and he won't make that mistake again...
