    I always took the lead out any way and made my own leaders

    Will these cast further than leadcore generally? Also do they still have anti tangle properties, as presumably they are more supple

    • @IntrinsicPalomides
      @IntrinsicPalomides Před 10 měsíci +1

      If this is anything like the Fox Edges Submerge Camo Leader then it'll cast better and will be more supple that leadcore, i've used that in 40lb for a few years now. The anti-tangle ness of anything imo more comes down to your hooklink material and how your rig enter's the water i find. Using a helicopter setup with a stiff hook link material i haven't had a tangle in years. I'll fish these stiff hook links even over uneven bottoms, being flurocarbon they blend in and don't feel they've cost me bites which was one of my worries when i first started using them. With a more flexible hook link material as long as you trap/hit the clip before your rig enters the water and feel it down you'll be tangle free most of the time.

      @@IntrinsicPalomides really appreciate this, I've heard a couple times that leadcore doesn't cast very well so wonder if it's costing me some distance. Mainly use stiff coated anyway on helis, but occasionally a semi stiff so just wanted to check.
      Thanks mate, I'll get some splice stuff as also having it shorter may help me. Think I can get away with about 600mm for my rigs

    • @IntrinsicPalomides
      @IntrinsicPalomides Před 10 měsíci

      @@Kb11466 Any kind of leader/tubing will reduce distance for sure, extra weight/not as aerodynamic etc etc. 600mm/2 foot is great as long as no/little weed. I use about 1m atm for both edge work and out in the pit i fish which has no real weed issues beyond silk weed.
      Good luck with your fishing!
      Edit: Oh yeah flurocarbon leaders are an option too, and basically invisible on the deck. Not used them myself but have seen them on an underwater camera.

      @Kb11466 Před 10 měsíci

      @@IntrinsicPalomides to be honest the ultraskin stiff I use is so stiff. I'd hazard a guess I could fish that naked and be safe. I might look at those prefused fluro leaders, any experience with those? Maybe they'll cast better?

    • @IntrinsicPalomides
      @IntrinsicPalomides Před 10 měsíci

      @@Kb11466 Sorry no experience with those, but after seeing them on an underwater camera recently i'm very tempted, they are basically invisible. Fish are much less wary of leader's i find anyway though, i've seen them lifting up leaders while troughing and having them go over their back/into fins etc and it doesn't seem to bother them. I think as they are a soft material it's not a shock, or they just think it's a stick/reed etc and are used to it where i fish. Can't say it'll be the same in all places, but it's pretty old and snaggy where i go so i think they're used to it.
