The way to survive it is just become a main character. Pennywise is 100% lethal to all secondary/tertiary it encounters...but just seems to enjoy scaring the main protagonists.

Fun fact about this movie: The actor for Pennywise didn’t act on the same set as the child actors up until the the slideshow scene so their screams and reactions were genuine from seeing the scary, killer clown for the first time.

To be fair. Fight flight or freeze. If they're the type to freeze they may just be unable to fight their freeze response and accept death. 2 of my siblings are the freeze type and tend to need pushing to start the flight response.

You can burn a painting without burning the whole house, you know, just take it off the wall first and put it onto a not flamable surface. I doubt that it would help in this case though. If you are haunted by something out of a painting (and ready to believe that you are not hallucinating), destroying the painting would be a reasonable attempt to destroy the thing. But since Pennywise isn't a ghost out of a painting, burning the thing won't do much, you'd likely still be afraid of the figure you saw and even if he can't use that one anymore because you firmly believe you have defeated the spooky ghost painting and thus aren't afraid of it anymore, he'll just find something else that you fear.

Flooding Derry to "Wash out" Pennywise would sound pretty legit. However, because he is Phobo Demon, he can do other things proven to be unpredictable. So if there's a chance this plan fails, it will be a huge gamble for it to work.

Maybe there's just something about portraits in religious places. I used to be verrrrrrry creeped out by a painting of Jesus in the church I attended as a kid. It was right at the top of the main set of big stairs, and unavoidable if you wanted to get to the bathrooms. Seriously the worst.
@Cptlogs13 I don't think I can accurately describe it. It was one of the ones where Jesus is looking directly at the viewer, and it just felt like I was being watched (not in a benevolent way, more like a judgmental, invasive way) whenever I had to pass by that painting.

Since all the parents are hypnotized does that mean that it’s possible that Pennywise purposely made the parents abusive so then he could use each fear he created even more perfectly ?
It depends on what canon you wanna go for in the 90's IT movie, the only abusive parent was Beverlys dad who often hit her, but wasnt a pedophile like he is in the new movies, Eddies mom was not overweight and her only form of ''abuse'' was being overprotective as she was afraid he was gonna get hurt, but Eddie wasnt suffering from germphobia or anything like that. Generally speaking the adults state of mind in the 90's movie is explained simply as the Derry disease, so many tragical events has caused the town become trapped in a state of sadness that they act like nothing bad is happening, they ignore it as they cannot deal with the trauma anymore. So i wouldnt say that Pennywise made the parents be abusive, but it simply took advantage of the abusive parents and their kids for easier targets, look at Bill for an example his parents are not abusive, yes they still mourn their lost son but they are not abusive to Bill, Ben's parents are not abusive either, in the 90's movie he does have a cousin who is a victim bully, meaning he taunts and bullies Ben until Ben gets mad enough to fight back and as soon as he does so, he runs to his mommy saying that Ben is the bully, but that was taken away in the new movies. I will say however that Pennywise's pressence is certainly affecting the Derry disease and increases its affect on the adults. Another example from the 90's movie can be seen in the second part where Beth tells the group of an event where Henry and his gang was waiting for her and surrounded her and tried to make advances on her, she locked eyes with an adult senior who fully saw what was happening and his eyes expressed sadness and fear over what he saw was happening but the Derry sickness kicked in and simply made him go back inside his house as he could not handle looking at something bad happening.

It's a kids first day of school and he walks into the building.
Cinema summary: Okay. That was his first mistake. This kid failed to realize the small piece of paint chipped off the front entrance doors. If he were to pay attention then he would have noticed it was the symbol the Romans used as the term "death". Yet he continues walking even after the second clue to this not being a normal school. If he would have looked closely at the chalk the teacher was carrying, he would have noticed that it was exactly 1 inch and a half. If that's not an obvious indication then I don't know what is. He also didn't realize the kid at the water fountain was drinking water for 1 minute and 23 seconds. The boy is clearly not paying attention to any of the hints. He also didn't acknowledge the textbook on the teacher's desk was flipped to page 86. This boy is ignoring all the signs that this school is not ordinary. He didn't realize a girl wearing a red hair tie. That is a simple sign for someone being a cold-blooded murderer. The room also has windows 3 inches apart from each other.

I read the book about 25 years ago and it was soooo much better than any movie I've seen. I can't really blame the movie makers considering it was a 1500 page novel and to make it into an accurate movie it would have to be a 10 part series at 3 hours each (although, if accurate to the book this would be a serious money maker). I had nightmares for a while after reading this book and I was an adult when I read it!

I haven’t finished the video yet, but the point on penny wise using fear as a weapon reminded me of Lupin in the third book. If you find a way to make your fear funny, it’s not a fear anymore. I know some fears, like a siblings death, cannot be rid of like this but it might have helped with some fears. Like a bogart, laughter might confuse pennywise. I haven’t watched the movie so I might be just a potter head

Well, basically he'll show up to you as a harmless but scary dood. Then you'll easily kill it. Then it'll just wake up but it'll still look dead so that'll still be a fear for you.
It's shown that pennywise doesn't really need to actually be the thing you fear, as if you fear him in general it'll be enough.
Fun fact this film is a remake of pretty much the same plot but in the original it was adults who were looking for IT so rule number 2 at 7:30 is completely null and void

The cool part about IT is that we really have no idea if the parents can’t see what going on because Pennywise is messing with the kids brains and its all in their heads, or the more terrifying option, Pennywise has control over space and matter so everything is actually happening but he’s tricking the parents into not seeing it.
Well, it *is* one of the most powerful cosmic entities in the Stephen King Verse. Haven't watched or read IT in a hot minute so I don't remember, but it was explained why the adults don't seem to give much of a shit/can't see or believe in Pennywise. Afaik part of that is that adults don't give in to their fears and have more abstract fears which it can't easily replicate. Also children apparently satiate its appetite more because their fear is purer. Also because Pennywise is actively manipulating all adults in Darry, as to easier be able to get the children.
@@infinitas. well still food for thought , I can’t remember if the book is written in the 3rd or 1st perspective, we’ve established before that whoever you could accredit as the third person narrator in kings other books can be unreliable and can even have a sort of conflicting relationship with the reader, either way, I’m not picking up IT again for a long time, I get it man that things been collecting dust on my shelf since I first read it, Don’t get me wrong its one of my favorite literary works but its sooooo friggin long, if I had a week to dedicate to it than maybe I might but Lifes too busy rn to read a half foot thicc book about an extraterrestrial clown that can manipulate space time, and phycological aspects of a human beings mind. Unless what he does is less of a phycological things and more of an ethereal realm concept where he moves in and out of what is effectively one dimensional layer up allowing only specific people to see and feel his torment. Either way I remember hearing (don’t quote me in this) that IT was considered weak in the dark dimension he came from. I mean compared to other king horrors he’s practically a God. Pin him against anybody, and I can’t imagine it goes they’re way, even against characters that don’t feel fear like Christine

In the book and movie little Georgie is initially afraid of Pennywise, and shrinks away when he first sees those yellow eyes. But Georgie calmed down and started to trust Pennywise when he saw the same familiar blue eyes as Billy and his mom. It is a shapeshifting alien that feeds on flesh and fear, and mainly takes the form of a clown. That’s not the creatures real name or form of course, and I think it’s real form is a spider but I don’t remember.
