DJI is apparently not using OcuSync or lightbridge on the Spark but a new probably lighter and lower cost variant or hybrid of wifi which actually does very well for how small and compact it is.
I will be doing another test with the parabolic dish antenna booster soon :)

Wow this thing is an absolute amazingness and it feels like a real aircraft with all those incredible features and cautions and a compelete independent machine to route and find its way back to home with its lovely gps map on the phone

I really want one of these but I'm really scared that it won't go as far as I want it to but it seems pretty decent but I'm scared that the weight of such a small drone can make it crash and plumit to the ground and there goes my AU$700
Aiden Hank he just took it over a mile . For a little drone how much farther do u want ? Unless you wanna go like 4 miles it will go as far as you want .

That thing flys further, longer and gps is more accurate than my 14 hundred dollar Yuneec Typoon H.I have to admit, When it comes to these drones and even cameras, DJI is amazing.

Got my spark for Christmas. Thank God for cold cold days as I've been watching youtube videos for the past 3 days versus going out to fly the damned thing in the bitter cold. The end result for this 1st time drone owner is, A LOT of useful tips and information collected (oh, and a lot of additional accessories ordered, lol). Nice video.

The first flight passed eyesight I had no problems until I landed it, the controller disconnected and the return home feature glitched so it crashed into a tree lol

The furthest I've had mine out is just a little over 1/2 mile, but that was 180 ft. over houses out to a golf course and back. I've never had mine up to 400 ft yet. Actually, the Spark is so small, I can't see it much beyond 100m, so then I have to look at the phone screen. ( I just picked up a used Galaxy Note 4, which I'm using as a dedicated device, instead of using my S6 Edge .. bigger screen, and I can turn off most everything). I found some real short USB A to Micro USB cables to use with the OTG cable (only 10.5 inches long), which cleans up that connection (found it on Amazon). I've tested charging a flight battery with a high power "Power Bank" (normally used to recharge tablets and cell phones). Its output is 2.5 amps per outlet, and it was able to fully charge a flight battery which was at 20% to full power in 45 minutes, about the same as that 3 gang charger that comes with the Fly More package. I think they are only on the 2nd iteration of firmware for the Spark, so there are a lot of 'features' I'm hoping come with the next update (like being able to slow down the gimbal speed .. or reduce the sound level of the RTH feature). The little thing really moves out in Sport mode .. I think my P3A would be pressed to keep up with it (maybe in ATTI mode). Looking forward to the test of those parabolic range extenders. I have them on my P3A (but the farthest I every tried going was 3 miles, and I still had full signal at that point and decided that was "good enough", and came home with lots of battery). Mahalo ...
A lot depends on who you talk to, or who's reviews you watch. There are some guys out there who wouldn't say a good thing about a DJI product, even if it were able to grant wishes every time you rubbed it. I just had mine out in a 25 mph wind, shooting a lighthouse on Lake Erie ... pretty scary, and had "High wind warnings" throughout the flight, but I managed .. and so did the little Spark. Pretty impressive to me.

Nice range test, you were able to get it out beyond the stated range without any mods. Great job as always, love the channel. Here is another test that needs to done by someone who owns all three of DJI's consumer drones, P4, MavicP and Spark, set them all to 1080p 30fps and compare the video quality. I wonder if the Spark is as good as the other's at it's max video quality?

I just ordered my first drome ever! A White DJI Spark fly more combo based on your review videos. I wanted one before I watched but you sold it for me! 2 miles Range with the parabolic reflectors! All the stuff it can do is just awsum! you explained everything really well perfect for my first purchase and can not wait for delivery! Maybe I make some videos of my own.

Dustin Dunnill Oh yea I can't wait! I had a cheap rc helicopter a few Xmas ago. This is a whole new ball game! I noticed some other drones in the background laying around your house: the bugs is one. How about the very cheap end of the scale for Indoors and garden use? What would you recomend? I have seen elfie aswell for just £25! You are lucky to live in Hawaii! My partner has booked a trip with her school friend in a few months she will be there.

I know this is an old video, but can you tell me what you found too be better for the spark? Yagi and parabolic together, or the 4Hawks raptor?
I first tried the parabolic and Yagi combined and it worked well. Then I installed the 4 hawks raptor and have had one flight so far and I’m not getting as good of a range as the parabolic Yagi combo so far. I’ll do some more testing tomorrow night with the raptor and see if maybe I’m aiming it too high or something.

I got 4.2km with reflector, I’m pretty sure I would be able to smash the 5km range ez, but I had to come back because of the battery ( and wanna add that I didn’t have any choppy signal video at any moment) these 5$ reflector increases the signal power so well just amazing

Does the OTG cable increase video range on your phone or smoothness of it? I'm blown away otherwise that you can get video from that far away. I just want to know if I should pick one up to really increase my possibilities for less than $10

Nice video. Question, the altitude shows that you were flying around 40 feet all the time which I don't think it's accurate. How would you be confident enough that you could fly it back to home since it's gone so far away with frequent disconnections randomly? Thanks.

What’s New
Improved photo resolution to 4K in Gesture and ActiveTrack modes. Added a new gesture for video recording. Added an option to adjust gimbal tilt sensitivity. Added a 180° Pano shooting mode. The
aircraft will descend to a height of 1.5 m while flying below 4.5 m or
descend 3 m while flying above 4.5 m if no subject is detected for more
than one minute in Gesture mode. Improved
overall gesture recognition and reduced the probability of falsely
recognizing the selfie gesture. The wave gesture is now disabled by
default while flying indoors or where the GPS signal is weak to ensure

Notes
Restart the aircraft and remote controller when the update is complete. If the firmware update fails, restart the aircraft, remote controller and DJI GO 4 or DJI Assistant 2, then try updating again.

+RGMG I just went through the update process. Ugh... DJI REALY needs to work on this. Another cluster F even with the otg Cable. Stuck at 5% and kept failing. Only way I could get it to work was direct phone wifi mode which finished craft update. Then had to switch to controller connected mode with OTG cable and do controller update which hung at 99% with no finish indication. Had to restart craft and controller and all is well finally. DJI must get soooo many service calls due to this confusing process.
Damn you went out hella far.. Just ordered mine.. Ill just go out a mile or so.. But damn 2 miles.. Lol great video
