- Yuki Ishikawa | The Most Intelligent Volleyball Player in the World !!! Yūki Ishikawa (石川祐希, Ishikawa Yūki, born 11 December 1995) is a Japanese male professional volleyball player from Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture.
Ishikawa is the first volleyball player to have a wax figure in Japan. Currently, his wax figure is displayed at Madame Tussauds Tokyo.
Ishikawa was named "Best outside spiker" award at the FIVB World Cup (2015, 2019), FIVB Nations League (2023), Asian Championship (2017, 2019, 2021), as well as "Most valuable player" award at the Asian Championship (2017).
As of April 2021, Ishikawa is the captain of the Japan men's national volleyball team, and plays as an outside hitter. He currently plays in the Italian Volleyball League for Allianz Milano.

I often notice that when they have to make crucial points, Sekita will most likely give it to Ishikawa. The amount of trust Sekita give to Ishikawa that no matter what, he'll get the ball through. Truly the best Japanese volleyball player right now

Apart from the exceptional abilities of Ishikawa, Nishida, Takahashi. Of the trio, Ishikawa appears to be the most relaxed. Most of the time smiling even when in combat mode.

Indeed he is. I really appreciate his presence of mind. He is not only limited to outside hitter, he is an all rounder player.
Love his shot selection against double blocks/with tough awkward hits and the fact that he's always available, ready to move from the back row to either flank to atk in case Ran or Nishida/Miyaura is out of position. The set point in 2nd set vs Italy was a prime example of this

loah, what are u saying. ishikawa spikes minding the court. yes, the setter is very good, but it is still the wits and efficiency of the attacker that still tells whether they get a point or not. for example, you can get to a point where there are no blocks (because of good set) but if you still mishit the ball, you still cannot get the point.
he is also a good blocker. he reads sets very well. in the vnl 2023 finals he had the most blocks in the japan team (5 blocks),, much more than the performance of the middle blockers that they have.
he is also a good receiver. he positions his self well (court awareness) and when there's a big serve he just absorbs it with his body, has good platform with his hands, and passes the ball well to the setter. in the vnl overall statistics he is the second best receiver (if you will see the 1st and the 3rd best receivers are liberos)
he is also a good server. he puts variety in his serves (top spin, jump serve, side spin) and he targets well (seams, sidelines, endlines). he is the 2nd best server in the vnl overall statistics.
finally there is no doubt that he is the best attacker in vnl 2023 this year. the statistics tells so.
he is a well-rounded player who knows the game so well.

IT IS ISHIKAWA AND WILL ALWAYS BE ISHIKAWA . Example is Sekita was not the one who set the ball at 2:58 but still Ishikawa managed to get the point. In addition, I watched all their matches throughout the VNL 2023 and noticed that whenever they made a good reception Sekita usually set it either to the middle or back row but when the they had an unstable receive, he will give it to Ishikawa and Ishikawa will score. Sekita is very commendable but we'll have to give it to Ishikawa, he's the most reliable and important player of Japanese team as of the moment. That man was all over the stats throughout the VNL, not to mention the MVP award he received in the AVC.
