Wonder if there was a food smell attracting him/her? I once let a squirrel out of a steel garbage can by laying it on its side, I imagine the food smell got him/her trapped in it. Thanks for sharing, safe travels Rockhopper!!

Hard to say why there was this behavior. I did the same with a squirrel in a trash can at a rest area that got in because of the food. Let's keep rescuing hungry squirrels! Have a great day!
