    You wouldn’t sell a top player if you’d understood the numbers again like you have.
    Bruno cost £35m (add ons are paid when met, not amortised). He’ll have been here 2.5 years which is half of the total fee already paid (£17.5m) leaving £17.5m.
    Bruno is then sold for £90m (€100m European release clause) leaving the club with £70m profit.
    A very conservative estimate selling Miggy, Sean and Wilson would be £40m.
    Total is £110m profit which could be (if we wanted to push the limit) to £550m (5 x 5 year deals = £110m per season).
    Obviously it’s unlikely we’ll spend £500m but even £300m gets us a squad able to compete for trophies.
    Then we just need a top manager to spend it and mould their squad

    • @GeordieJournos
      @GeordieJournos  Před 2 měsíci

      The overall point was that the plan isn't to sell a crown jewel. We don't know yet, but also under the assumption, the only wriggle room isn't coming from player sales solely. L

  • @andyh323

    Hopefully you are right about Bruno. There is a deep pessimism in Newcastle fans that is hard to shift. It's that clause that worries us. I would sell Wilson and Almiron. Also possibly Longstaff and Murphy.
    The progress of the club itself is dissapointing but that is mainly about the PL who continue to target ambitious clubs like Everton and us. There is something going on in the PL that is distateful.
    If all the restrictions were taken off then we could easily outspend City. Our owners have far more money.

    I get what you’re saying but the point is outside of the 4 you mention we have no one of real worth . How to you grow a club without doing what other clubs have done. We are hamstrung by the Ashley years and if we have to sell him to grow then it will happen.

  • @dxn1096

    Would getting some money from Man Utd for Dan Ashworth not contribute to an increase in budget, on top of selling players like Almiron/Wilson etc?

  • @robbell4511
    @robbell4511 Před 2 měsíci

    Totally agree, Man city wouldn't have sold prime Aguero when they were looking to build and challenge, you don't get anywhere by selling your best players, if we're not careful we'll become another spurs.

    Use the effects of inflation to make the case that the loss limits are no longer fit for the purpose that they were initially introduced for 15 years ago.
    Inflation on transfer fee costs have far outstripped the rate that income has increased.
    E.g. income increased 60% from 2016 to 2023.
    Total EPL transfer spend went up from £500m in 2016 to £1,350m in 2023. That’s almost 200% increase.
    Look at Kante. Sold by Leicester to Chelsea for £32m in 2016. Rice was sold for £105m in 2023. That’s a 230% increase for a player with same profile, same age, same position / status etc.
    Bang the drum about cost inflation making the loss limits no longer fit for purpose, and demand the PSR rules are suspended.
    At the very least the cost inflation would reduce the significance of the breaches that have occurred.
    Inflation is fundamental and the reason why PSR is currently not fit for its originally well intended purpose.
    Suspend PSR.

    I don’t think the club have any desire to sell Bruno, it comes down to whether he wants to go to the club that triggers his release clause. I believe that the 2 clubs he wants are RM and Barca, Madrid are going to blow their bollocks on Mbappe this summer and Barca are skint. PSG have the money for sure but I don’t think they really have the pulling power. Miggy, Wilson, Murphy, Lascelles, Trippier, Longstaff, Krafth, Targett and even Willock could go for the right offer I think.

    I love Bruno and want him to stay but teams have cashed in on their best players and improved the squad. West ham, villa and Liverpool all sold their best player and became a better team. I also think Bruno at his age will want to play champions League every year. There is every chance he is not going to do that the next 2 years at Newcastle

    We need to be moving on the old guard such as Fraser & Hendricks etc, we all know who they are (hell, Fraser's on £60,000 per week!) We also need to shake off , once and for all that limpet, Ashley, I see he's talking about taking the club to court again because his plastic empire won't be allowed to sell our new kits as they come out ! He's been waiting for this since Adidas was announced as our next kit provider & he knows Adidas , themselves won't deal with him , that's a fact, he hasn't been allowed to sell any of the team kits in his pile 'em high, sell 'em heap shops....the man has NEVER attempted to take the manufacturer to court before but he choses to now it's Newcastle! The thin-skinned one can't bear the thought he's got no power within our club anymore , so he's taking us to a Competition Tribunal Appeal because we have an exclusivity deal which he claims nufc, Adidas & JD Sports would be able to sell kits . He's complaining we terminated our agreement with Castore early & licenced , instead, Adidas which is the crux of the matter.
    As long as this man isn't shut down , officially, by the courts he'll be hanging on like a bad smell in the background.
    About time the fact those spectacular raids by HMRC on SJP & Lee Charnley's home led to an enormous tax bill was addressed. He's , so far 'got away' with the fact he's a tax cheat & that bill should have been his to pay, & our new owners should cross petition (if the sale hadn't gone through would we have been forced into Administration?)
