I acknowledge it was done probably for legal reasons, but DYKG neglected to mention that Pokemon Card GB 2 has a complete English fan translation that makes the game fully playable in English, with every line in the game translated. The patched rom can even be played on the real GameBoy Color hardware through the EverDrive GB.
Like how Gold & Silver revolutionized Pokemon and is a much, much bigger and better game than it's original, so is Card GB2 over the first TCG. It's highly recommended. One of the best GBC games ever made.

I remember reading a Capcom forum back in 2011 where people were actually discussing with official Capcom translators why the game wasn't released.
From what I understand/remember, AAI1 sold significantly less than anticipated and actually lost Capcom money. Because of this, they opted to not localize the second, as it was only a spinoff and wouldn't affect story from other AA games.
I'm pretty sure this is also why the new AA games are digital only in the West (where they have physical releases in Japan): You can cut costs significantly by releasing it digital only, and since AA wasn't bringing in enough money to justify localizing it fully, this was a good compromise.
EpicOdysseus Really? I didn't know that... It's still sad that they didn't localise GK2 (and now The Great Ace Attorney...), and I still wish they'd translate and release it, pal... Maybe do what Nintendo did with Mother and release the translated version on the eShop!

It's along the lines of yu gi oh where they are "just" cards but they seem to hold some mysterious power. The actual monsters don't exist in-world though. (Or maybe this is far in the future and pokemon are all gone :O)

There are no Pokemon at all in the game proper. Everything's cards in that region. In fact, the games have this thing where the legendary pokemon cards are considered almost like the Egyptian God cards of Yu-Gi-Oh! and GR's cards are considered different and separate than their normal counterparts.
It's purposely kept vague. Nobody in-game talks about it. And all anyone seems to care about is Pokemon cards.
F-Zero Climax, Mother 3, Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest, Deiken Netsetsu 3 (Secret of Mana I think), Final Fantasy 2, 3, and 5, you have a lot of ground to cover.
You forgot half of Pheonix Wright, most of the pokemon mystery dungeon games, a bunch of nintendo arcade games, the JJBA part 5 game for PS2, the N64DD games and many more games that were JP only.
Steven Armstrong: "Half" of Phoenix Wright? Only two games in the series weren't localized (Ace Attorney Investigations 2 and Dai Gyakuten Saiban), the rest did make it out of Japan.
+Steven Armstrong the actual reason why that Jojo part 5 game never made it was because it's creator Hirohiko Araki didn't agree with the changes made to the localization of the game and Capcom USA had no choice but to cancel it.

totofze47, yes but the first three games' GBA releases didn't. That was Capcom's decision though, not Nintendo's. Now people start questioning why don't more titles work that way. I will say though it'd have been a risky choice on Capcom's behalf if it weren't for the fact that them selling the same games over and over and over and over again wasn't standard practice for them and they probably already planned to port the games to DS and the western releases were just icing on the cake.
Yeah luckily Capcom Japan were developing a DS port of the three games at the perfect time.

This is a super interesting series to me, i wanna see more! and those Pokemon TCG games look so good, it's incredible how they seem to have packed so much into those carts. New CCGs need more of that exploring a world outside of the matches.

You can download an emulator on your phone and play a fully translated hacked version of the sequel. It is much funner than the original.

Do you know about Final Fantasy Adventure and/or Secret of Mana? They're actually a series known in Japan as Seiken Densetsu. Seiken Densetsu 3 is the sequel to Secret of Mana, but not that stupid Secret of Evermore game, the REAL sequel, and better in basically every single way. Honestly it's probably the single best game that's never officially left Japan in any way, even better than Mother 3. Considering they were showing footage of the game very prominently when talking about submitting suggestions for other games, it has a pretty high chance of being covered.

You might want to try out the fourth game which is on the SNES (not the one with Marth). It was the best in the series until Path of Radiance.

Not even close, bud. There are a few *Million* fans of the Mother series by this point, not even counting Japan. [This is a rough estimate, but my point stands.] Mother 1 didn't originally leave Japan either, but the demand was way past high enough, and now it's on virtual console.
No, the real reason Mother 3 still hasn't got an official English translation is because of extremely stupid "censor anything and everything controversial" laws in U.S. importing. Mother 3 and Majora's Mask both covered some seriously dark and disturbing subjects, but Majora's Mask pulled it off with enough tact that most kids and their parents didn't notice. Mother 3 was much too in-your-face about it, particularly with the Magipsies.
And that's all I can say without spoilers and/or sounding racist.
FE4 is with Thracia774(?) the hardest games from the FE series. I hope for an "remake" of FE4, for the NX/Switch, I mean, it's a big game! :)

I assume you guys are from the West, how did you find out about this franchise? I'm a big fan of SRW and have been grabbing them off shelves for almost 2 decades here in Asia.
+GuyWithAnAmazingHat I played original generation 1 and 2 years ago and while searching through some rooms for a gba emulator I saw A, D, R and J and thought I'd give them a try(I didn't know they were anime based then) and after words I started playing the later games like L and W on ds and Z3 Jigoku hen on my ps3 and have been having a blast. I only recently found translation patches for the handheld games so I've been getting through those and Z3 been going pretty well, though I keep a translation guide up on my computer while I play so I can understand what's going on.

Awesome new series!
This game is one of my favorites of all time. Both the first game and the sequel have some of the best music to appear on the GBC, and are full of depth. I have the sequel on my phone, my PSP, and my PC. I give it a strong recommendation and am extraordinarily happy about the translation patch.

seeing the second game makes me wish even more than it came over to the States. I played the first game so much that I was able to beat it in about 2 hours
The two cards that you could only get from Card Pop were Venusaur and Mew. The promo Venusaur was actually available in North America if you bought the Strategy guide for the game.

For those who want to play TCG2 in English, there's a romhack released that is a fully complete translation. I've seen a few bootleg carts floating around on eBay as well.
