- In this video i will show you how to align /calibrate your satellite dish. With the free application „Satellite finder“ it normally takes about 1-2 Minutes until your sat dish is correctly installed and calibrated. If you if you have problems with the alignment of your dish make sure your compass is correctly calibrated.
After aligning the correct azimuth and elevationangle, plug in all the necessary cables in your satellite dish and tv.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. When the roofers re-attached my dish after the shingle replacement, it was mis-aligned. DirecTV DOES NOT GO ON ROOFS ANYMORE! So either they put up a new satellite on the side of the house, or I do it myself.

How 🤔
To tune the dish properly, you will also need the skew angle of the LNB. If you have a motorized setup, you will not need the skew angle. The skew angle adjusts automatically with the motor/dish movement.
A lot of the Intelsat birds have been replaced with newer models, will there be an update? or just list by orbital slot order maybe vs alphabetical

Hi you can use the app „satellite sender“ to check the right satellite for your position. For dish and lnb I would rate you to contact a local dealer for information and advice.
I did everything what you said and still can't get signal getting frustrated trying to get it working
tried this app and it didn't work. ended up just setting the elevation and panning my dish around for HOURS and i still got nothing. no signal on my spectrum analyzer, nothing but noise.
Oh, I'm sorry to hear this. Did you calibrated your compass? If yes and it still didn't work it could be possible hat the compass of your device isn't accurate enough. Maybe you can try an other device?
@@exultationpictures i just tried setting my elevation and scanned the entire southern sky and i still couldn't find anything except for one spot where the noise jumped up at a few frequencies

So, when using the "Satellite Finder" app, of the 200+ satellites to choose from, how do I know which satellite is the correct one to choose for my position? There must be 5 or 6 Direct TV satellites. Thanks!
Hi, yes there are a lot of satellites. For detailed information you can check out the app “satellite sender” There you can filter for certain senders and which satellites transfer them. Otherwise google helps you.

Is your antenna prime focus or an offset style ?
My phone compass app has been calibrated and is reading true north but north on the satellite finder app is reading a different north about 15 degrees off, this app used to work very well but now it is not much use at all. Have tried uninstalling the app and reloading it but still not showing true north. Any suggestions, thanks

Okay, so I have a problem. My SP is giving me an elevation of 35.5 and a azimuth of 146.9 for my location and I'm not seeing any of those numbers for my DirectTV setup using that app. What am I missing?

It depends. Usually not that much. Try to calibrate your mobile device, its the most common mistake. If you don't know exactly how it works, check our video for it ;)
It does a lot cause the metal body acts like a magnet
Sounds great but how does it work if you need to catch 2 satellites but are using 1 dish? They would both have different coordinates. I need to aim 82 echostar and 91 nimiq.
Never tried it but it could work if you align the two LNBs separately.

Save fucking about get your satellite receiver, get the correct elevation and azimuth for your location on your dish then add a channel list to your receiver.. Select a channel and move the dish til you get a signal. Job done

I tried this. The metal of the dish assembly plays havoc with the compass app - merely bring my i-phone or my i-pad within a foot or two of the dish cause the compass to perform very erratically. This method was not successful for me.

Yes it can! Just try it and check if you can use it for your work :)
So how do you know what position you are in before choosing the correct satellite please.
It’s the position your standing in that moment. Afterwards you turn your satellite dish to the satellite.
Shit dont work ,tried to realign and screwed everything up, had to call a tech to come and fix it.

@exultationpictures Hi Peter, Weel done on the App, it is simple and effective.
Do you have any plans to add the LNB Skew angle details for the location to the App? That would increase its usefulness by 33.333% (As to commission a dish we require the Azimuth, Elevation Angle and LNB Sku 🙂).
The obstruction function is very useful, it would be enhanced by an indicator that enables the user align the phone with the dish and choose between an Offset Dish and a Prime Focus Dish.
If you had the above two enhancements as a premium version I'd happily pay $5-8 for the additional features.

When I calibrate my compass, the app says "turn the antenna by 689 degrees to the right".

Hi, I’m sorry to hear this! Normally the app includes Anik1,2,3. I can‘t say why you can’t find them. Try to restart the app and make sure you‘re in the radius of the satellitesignal. Good luck!

Not working in South Africa
the app is absolutely independent of location. There are well over 10,000 active users in South Africa. If the app does not work, it may be because you are using a smartphone that does not have a built-in compass sensor and gyroscope sensor. Without these sensors, the app will not work, regardless of location.

oh no :( Try to calibrate your internal compass. If you get a signal but no picture, the problem could be the you get a signal from a wrong satellite with a similar position.
Useless and buggy app
The app has more than 1 million active users. If the app gives bad results, 99.9% of the time it's on Android devices that don't have the necessary hardware built in. For the app to work well your smartphone must have a built-in compass sensor and a gyroscope sensor. 95% of all Android and 100% of all IPhones have these sensors.
