By far my favourite song of the year. I remember seeing this as a kid and being blown away. I wish it had won instead of Bobbysox.
The real winner of Eurovision 1985!
One of Finland's best songs, such a good pop song and performance - my favorite that year. Even 9th was underrated as hell, Finland deserved top-5 with this!
Unfortunately it wouldn't have got there since it wasn't presented in English, Hebrew, Swedish or French...
Yes I fully agree. My mother was a colleague of songwriter. This song should have won.
@@FannomacritaireSuomi though apparently the juries had a translation of the song in English and/or French with them (as is the case with all songs), so language issues wouldn't have been too much of a barricade, I would have thought.

I also loved the ''Sata Salamaa'' from 1987, ''La Dolce Vita'' from 1989 and ''Hullu Yo'' from 1991.

This song is FUCKING AWESOME! Sonja Lumme looks fantastic and she sings so well! What a performance! 10/10. Seriously this is one of the best power ballads ever written.
I'm so proud that Magnus Carlsson, of Melodifestivalen fame, sung this (in Finnish!!) in a Finnish TV show a few years ago, and named it his favourite ESC entry ever!

This should have won back then...it's only default, the Finnish language, which is not that popular in the ESC

Does she always sing with such a wide mouth ? Terrible in the chorus.
I once sang in a production of a Finnish opera, Kullervo by Salinen, alongside Finnish singers. I remember the Finnish language coach had to work very hard with us non Finnish singers to get that wide mouth position for the vowel 'a.' It is very specific . I think that Sonja's voice was powerful with a rock feel and like the song.
No she and other singers normally sing with their mouths shut!
