It makes sense too, they’ve probably only seen hairstyles like that on singers and in music videos, so it’s the easiest word association. They seem like nice people, learning about uncommon hairstyles (where they live) just isn’t high on most people’s priorities.

@tyra you have to understand that they may not have the right words to explain this in their language, in America it has a name but like where I live the closest thing I could give in my language is vlechtjes which translates to braids because where I live (Belgium) there isn’t a name for it, same goes for Korea I think.

That is why they have said in the comments that they miss translated it for the english sub, they would have wrote Cornrows instead.

What Koreans call "Latin music" is really called Reggaeton in most cases. Reggaeton is a music style that originated in Puerto Rico with influence from American hip hop, Latin American, and Caribbean music. And as many Latinos know, there's A LOT of Puerto Ricans that live in New York, so I'm sure someone did film a music video in the New York/Manhattan area.
Just some background on Reggaeton music.
