CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Hatcher (Steven Seagal) uses his hand-to-hand expertise to neutralize Screwface's henchmen.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In Marked for Death, Steven Seagal is told to "try to find the gentle person inside yourself." But he doesn't spend too much time looking, preferring instead to crack the spines of his victims. Seagal plays John Hatcher, a burned-out narcotics agent who resigns from the Drug Enforcement Administration after his partner is killed. He returns to his hometown and finds the city in the thrall of a vicious Jamaican drug gang, led by the nasty Screwface (Basil Wallace). He meets an old friend, now a high school football coach, who tells John about losing his best player and his 13-year-old nephew to drug overdoses. Soon John's family is threatened and his prize Mustang stolen, so John joins forces with his buddy to take on Screwface and the drug gang themselves.

Marked For Death, Out For Justice, and Under Siege are GOOD movies. Truly awesome.
They are great!!! and also they not only hold up today, they are leaps and bounds better than more modern "action" flicks.
From 1988 through most of the 90s, Seagal’s films were solid cinematic adventures. After the turn of the new century, it went down hill to the point where it’s just unwatchable. Either way, installments like this one, Hard to Kill, and Above the Law were just fantastic! Have to give the guy credit for that!
Ironically that’s when he got picked up by major motion pictures
Under Siege and Out for Justice are another couple great Seagal flicks!
Under seige was really good as well
Things went off the rails for Seagal when he got big and started to get creative control. So, you started getting scripts polished by Seagal himself, the same guy who recorded Songs from the Crystal Cave.
Up until then, when there were adults in charge and all Seagal did was play his role, his movies were excellent.

I was in middle school when this came out. Saw it in the theatre as well. The whole audience bursted out laughing when the rastas took the umbrellas and tried to fight off Hatcher. This movie and "Out For Justice" 1991........great films

There's something amusing about the side-kick knocking out the guy with the broken arm. It's like he came in late but is still determined to contribute something. It also makes the violence so gratuitously excessive that it almost feels self-mocking.

LMFAOO Out of order & below the belt. At least it’s not Cool Runnings with the Absolutely atrocious Patois. Americans CANNOT sound Jamaican to save their lives. Not their fault it’s because of their natural accent. I’m British, both parents Jamaican born. As soon as one of them opens their mouth in a Movie/TV Show it’s instant cringe. The guy from Luke Cage season 2 was getting me madder & madder each scene. Nothing wrong with his acting BUT the Jafaken was triggering 🤬

it's certainly up there with OUT FOR JUSTICE... good action, excellent directing and editing, and all the acting comes off as believable (even Seagal puts in a comparatively decent enough performance aside from some major lapses here and there). Everything here gets elevated by the horror / mysticism element by the Jamaican blood gangs and their accents certainly add to the fun. OUT FOR JUSTICE had more machismo and some funnier scenes, but sagged from too many montages and go-nowhere side plots. This one stays largely on-target aside from the pointless romance (if you can call it that?) with Joanne Pacula.
Keith David was so underrated in this movie, he deseved a little bit more of protagonism.

Keith has that rare quality of raising any movie to a different level through his sheer presence. A very rare quality indeed, and really the one you want to have as an actor.

Merio Carpenter Hard to Kill was my favorite seagal movie. My dad took us as kids. I think that movie is different to nearly all his other ones. That's the one movie I recall he was

I remember an army of security guards in the shopping mall from the movie "Commando," but in this particular mall all the security guards are on sick leave.

This is one of my favorite movies
In this sort of combat Aikido is very useful. Its like Krav Maga. Now straight up street fighting or MMA not so much at all. But if someone is attacking you and coming at you especially with a weapon then this art form is very useful.
Combat pragmatism is key.
A few problems with Aikido, say pacifism and complete lack of realistic training in most dojos. I say get into a few street fights first, know what it's like to get a busted up, then proceed with real Aikido training. Sure, not every technique will seem practical at first, learn it anyway. I found it will become beneficial
