    It’s so funny that this particular recipe seems to be the one every one wants to try. I also have it bookmarked. I was intrigued by the dissolved salt part. Love the changes you made and that fragrance sounds lovely.

      I was drawn to the Dead Sea Salt because I have a 1kg tub of it that our humidity doesn't like so I thought it was a great way to use some 😆 I've used salt brine before but mainly in liquid soap. The soap has a wonderful creamy lather.

    Keeley, those colors absolutely pop! 👍 The dissolved salt part is just like adding sodium lactate, which is a type of salt, only just a wee bit more. I haven't gotten to that recipe yet. But I may do it sooner sin e you have given me some encouragement.

    I thought the salt in soap cuts cure time down to say 3 weeks instead of 4? I live on an island with 365 beaches....I want to make sea water soap but with a touch of goats milk so here watching lots of videos. Thanks for sharing!

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  Před 3 lety +1

      Salt creates a harder bar of soap but doesn't cut down on cure time. A soap will "cure" for its whole life.

    • @nekishabass1352
      @nekishabass1352 Před 3 lety

      @@SoyandShea thank you. Will bear that in mind :)
      So logic tells me a soap is safe to use after 3 or so days but allowing it to cure for 4 to 6 weeks creates a harder bar. If salt creates a harder bar then it shd be okay to go in say 3 weeks as it wld have attained the regular standard of hard of a no salt bar.... but will continue to get harder the longer it cures.
      Ok, makes sense!

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  Před 3 lety +1

      Curing isn't just about creating a hard bar. The bars become milder too. People use water discounts as a better way of reducing their cure time

    • @nekishabass1352
      @nekishabass1352 Před 3 lety

      @@SoyandShea clearly, I have lots to learn!!! But I'll get there. I will def not skip on the cure time for sure!

    Thanks for sharing. How much water did you use (in any format, whether lye ratio, concentration or percentage of water)? Did the soap act or feel different to regular sea salt? (sweating with humidity or whatever else, etc)
    Thanks

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  Před 8 měsíci

      I made this soap back in 2019 and don't recall the exact measurements I used. I know it was very similar to the book which is a paid recipe so not my place to share. I do remember not having any issues with sweating etc in humid weather.

    Hi, Keeley! Beautiful soap. I've seen two salt soap videos this week. What benefit does the salt have for our skin? Thanks, Keeley.

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you ❤ salts are packed full of minerals that come through into the final soap. The dead Sea salt is even richer in minerals than normal sea salt. They also make a really hard long lasting bar of soap but you need to increase coconut oil and superfat as salt will inhibit lather

    • @louisdepointedulac3072
      @louisdepointedulac3072 Před 5 lety

      @@SoyandShea thanks for sharing. What do you think about using only coconut oil with a high (20-30%) superfat?
