  • In this week's episode, I'm presenting my list of top 5 trails to hike in the Gatineau Park in 2020. While some trails are closed during the pandemic, these 5 trails remain accessible to the public. Hiking in the Gatineau Park is an awesome free activity (might have to pay for parking) to do in the National Capital Region of Canada during the summer.
    Travel episode 15 - Filmed on Saturday, 1st of August 2020
    All the information needed for these 5 hikes is available on the National Capital's Commission's website: ncc-ccn.gc.ca/places/hiking-a...
    To have access to the Pink Lake trail, you must park on Notch road where this road intersects trail #15. Park in a legal parking spot and head in the direction of the Pink lake by taking trail 15, then 35. It should take you no more than 10 minutes to get to Pink Lake.
    I also recommend you check out the app All Trails (not sponsered) which offers valuable information on all these trails.

    Boy, do I miss Gatineau Park. I was there in the 80s. Used to live in Ottawa area and went either to picnic or hiking or xcountry skiing there.

      Hey Jen! Glad you enjoyed it! Being that I am an abid hiker and spend most of my time in the Gatineau Park, I thought it would be important to share these trails. I will update the list next summer and probably add 3 more trails. Have a great hike and thanks for following me for more travel episode on the region.

      Brandon On The Go actually I feel like the parking fee is only for peek times during the season! I first ever did the trail back in April I believe and didn’t have to pay, which I thought was due to covid! But I actually just did the trail yesterday and both parking machines are gone as well as the sign reminding you to pay :)

      @@iloveshoes2000 well that is some excellent news! I might just go there this week than. I was last there in July and the ticket machine was still there. What is your favorite trail in the Gatineau Park?

      @iloveshoes2000 Před 3 lety +1

      Brandon On The Go my top favourite right now is definitely Wolf trail with pink lake and skyline following close behind!
      Lusk cave was very lovely as well! Wish I had been able to explore the cave a bit more but I didn’t have proper clothing for the water and some area the water would have been at least to my bellybutton! Carbide Wilson ruins was really nice too but quite short!

    At 5:03 of this video you tell your viewers that they can park on Notch street to access the trails that lead to Pink lake. I think you may piss off a few people if they follow this advice cause I know a bunch of people that parked on Notch street and got ticketed by the Chelsea Police cause all along that street on the shoulders of the road it says no parking allowed. Is there a secret spot on that road that you are aware of where the Chelsea Police will not ticket you cause its really a chance you would be taking. I know some people have gotten lucky and not ticketed but they were likely just there for a brief moment. The Chelsea police are infamous for handing out tickets when it comes to the time of the month where they have to meet their quotas. These buggers are more like tax collectors then police officers.
