Apparently this volcano has erupted more times in the last 200 years than any other volcano in the Philippines, and there are quite a few active volcanoes there. Thanks for the video, Rod...Jim

It's scary that Taal is #1 on the list. I've been to Tagaytay and it doesn't even look so big.

Have a look at the map. That large lake around what we nowadays call "Taal Volcano" is in reality the crater lake of the SUPER VOLCANO called Taal Volcano. Only good it has a safety valve - the Taal as we normally see it. When it erupts from time to time it releases pressure and so prevents the big bang that would destroy half of Luzon Island....... and with the longtime effects it could make most of the entire Philippines to be deserted area. The SUPERVOLCANO TAAL really deserves to be on #1 in the list of MOST dangerous volcanos worldwide.

I sat and watched Mt.Saint Helens erupt in 1980. Very exciting event. I hope all the folks stay safe.

The ash and pumice can clog up the compressors inside the jet engine and cause an engine stall. It can also sand blast the plane, and ruin the front windshield.
Happened years ago to a plane over an eruption in Malaysia/Indonesia

Yes, I remember years ago with the Iceland volcano stopping a lot of European flights.

I did not notice any sulfur smell or ash fall here in Bacolod. Was overcast and raining here in the mountains I tried to see the volcano, too cloudy..

I always planned to climb it during my five year retirement in Valencia/Dumaguete. But it was always "closed". That little town, forgot its name, up there could be a retired guys enclave. I did climb the other high peak in the "National Park" further north on Negros. Did you know that Mount Talinis, the volcano rite above Valencia is also a so-called National Park? The jungle trail up it is one slippery wet bushwhack. Canlaon, thats it. Sleeper place to live. Not so hot.

Thank you for this very informative video and the salutations Rod!
The main volcano threat in Europe is probably Vesuvio (Vesuvius). Maybe an eruption is not expected before decades
or centuries, but it will probably be a desaster if it happens. I'm quite fascinated by Italian volcanoes. I've been climbing
Mt Etna and Stromboli different times. God bless the Philippines. Take care!🙋‍♂

So sad how most people nowadays dont appreciate Geography any more. Thats my forte. When I rode up to Tagatay, on the lip of Taal's old caldera, I could understand what I was looking at. A Super-Volcano. That little lava blip out in the middle ain't nothing. Its almost like the Yellowstone Caldera. On Sumatra, the Mount Toba Caldera, on a motorcycle, is even more astounding. The lake in the caldera is like 50 miles around. There's a cool touristy town with a beach, and being high up in the interior, it's all Christian. Sumatra is my fav island of all!The huge island in the lake takes 3 hours to ride around. If you know geography/geology and understand what you're seeing, the size of the explosion was Biblical!

Thank you for your update. However - please do your best to pronounce Mt Kanlaon properly. It is pronounced kan-la-on. It is annoying when a foreigner continue to mispronounce a location without any effort to say the word properly - especially on live media.
