- This video presents the first part of the Top 1000 songs of the eighties (1000-801). The source for this video is the Billboard Hot 100, and songs were given points according to their peak, weeks on chart, weeks in the Top 40, and in the Top 10. The lowest peak considered was #11. In order to make a more comprehensive list, all peaks should be considered, but it is a mammoth job, which we'll consider doing someday.
Please note that all songs peaked during the eighties, so it does not include hits like "Escape" by Rupert Holmes, which spent a week at #1 in 1980 but had its first week at number 1 in 1979. In comparison, "Another Day In Paradise" by Phil Collins spent two weeks at #1 in 1990, but its first two weeks on top were in 1989, so its entire chart run was considered for this video and will not appear in the one for the 90s.
This channel does not own the songs and the video has been created for information/entertaining/promotion purposes. If you like a song, please visit the official artist channel or purchase/stream the song on your favorite platform.
Enjoy it!
Thanks for watching! - Hudba
80s music is the best.
The 80’s were some of the best years of my life!!!
Greatest and Best Start to My Life will never ever be beaten in history or time on planet earth reached it's pinnacle to everything that was done near perfection now life is lost guesswork and aging it's to hard to believe it's 40years i love a return in spirit cause it's too classy 80s with all entertainment link to just before after that not been the same another world dimension and time no words to describe people made it happen as a kid it ruled no worries responsibilties scale the list is endless with toys cartoons food ads ad etc
@@paultreadaway102 thank you so much for your reply. The 80’s were so much different from now, and even though I was a kid, life seemed so much easier back then.
@@sassykaren7587 u are rite no words to describe vibes feelings so on and so for being saying that the last couple of years what have had to battle get more nostalgia and childhood ruled
@@sassykaren7587 and shops were shut Sunday very few on Saturday now it seems they just roll into one i mean time is ticking by quick u just trying to survive for me Working bits and pieces don't matter what the day is anymore really we get old we are Slaves have to occupied yourself enough in this life thru the busy brutal brital and boredom we have to deal with.Far from it and referring to being a kid and 80s will and can never be beaten we all opinions how we feel
@@paultreadaway102 I’ve noticed also how fast the time goes by. It seems like it took longer back in the 70’s and 80’s compared to now. I also remember when everything was shut down on Sundays, except for some restaurants to go eat at after church. I really do miss those days, and the loved ones that are no longer with me.
¡Cómo extraño la época de los 80's, la mejor de toda mi vida! ❤❤❤
Music is like time traveling
Somebody
Into The Night
This Could Be The Night
Don't Close Your Eyes
The One I Love
Where Are You Now
What About Love ?
Love You Down
Straight From The Heart
The Final Countdown
Sweet Love
Surrender To Me
Absolutely brilliant compilation from a superb decade 👏
I was sad that the initial 2 longer videos of the 1000 biggest hits of the 80s according to Billboard had been taken down, but now it's gonna be 5 parts it seems, which makes me even happier again!
you're right, considering all peaks is a mammoth job, but anyway, I'd add to the following videos:
C'est la Vie -Robbie Nevil
Don't want to wait anymore - The Tubes
Nature of Love - Waterfront
btw, just saying! 😉😄
I CAN SEE MYSELF REOPENING THE MTV VIDEO MALL AND SHOWCASING THE 1000 GREATEST HITS OF THE 80S… A DECADE THAT THIS CABLE CHANNEL SHOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL TO HAVE BEEN A PART OF.
I TIP MY HAT TO NINA, JJ, ALAN, MARK AND MARTHA. MTV NEVER WENT AWAY AT ALL.
Kenneth Huang. 12/23/23.
So many classic songs!!!
My guess for #1 is going to be Physical by ONJ
It was #1 for 1981 but for the entire decade
It was Billboard's #1 song for 1982. And yes, song of the decade as well. 10 weeks at #1 between 1981 and 1982.
Nice very good to the greatest decade of all time never to forget miss it so much oh hail the 80s
need part 2
This is a very cool video, and I want to see part two already. :)
Great job
Some song in #801 to 1000 did not even make the top 100 of the year they were released
Examples are Wham! - the Edge of Heaven, Pat Benatar - Invinsable, Europe,- The Final Countdown, Shelia E - A love Bizarre, & Information Society- Walking Away
FYI- I am a huge charts geek especially in regards to the 1980’s
Go Part 2
Vary usefull collection.....thank you.....
Thanks for this video. Don't forget to include "When love breaks down" by Prefab Sprout in the next parts.
THE FIRST PHASE OF THE 1000 SONGS OF THE 80S, # 1000-801: THE SONGS THAT PEAKED AT #11-#7. I believe that those chart peaks will go higher thru the next 4 phases.

I may need a little help trying to count down those 1000 hits from the 80’S…. and I know just the person I can turn to: MARTHA QUINN, a lady who’s a popular VJ on MTV like Nina Blackwood, but she still retains her teen girl voice when she speaks,
1000 hits from the 80’s and MTV. ONLY THE BEST TUNES WILL DO.
Kenneth Huang 7/24/23.
I know you only went down to songs that peaked at #11, but come on, doesn't "Tarzan Boy" at least deserve a mention despite only peaking at #13?
Cuáles son las dos canciones que están silenciadas?
Some songs seem that came from seventies
Didn't you already post this video?
I though the same
Initially posted it in only two longer parts of over 45 mins each, but now will split it in 5 parts of 200 songs each.
Yes! I was waiting for the second part of top 500
Why is born in USA and I want to have fun cut off
