If the coach said you lack of creativity down the final third, should you consider playing as a CB? I think defensively you are great. You have the strength for playing as CB and your pace definitely will be a plus. There are a lot of CB converted from full-backs these days, either playing in back-four or back-three.
Hermann Liang Matt probably isn’t tall enough to play as a CB in a 2, but he would probably be perfect as a RCB in a 3.

The feedback you got was really useful. I understand when you say "you're not that kind of player". Unfortunately the demands of the game have changed and teams are playing or from the back more than ever and are looking for the left and right backs to have the ability to drive forward and be creative.

You don't understand how much hope you bring to me. I've worked so hard to be in the place I'm in right now, bu what I hate most about myself is that I'm short for my age. It really does get to you when your playing football. You get pushed around easily, can't really win headers, people can put an arm out && I'm blocked by them. I'm 17 && I'm 5'4. But although I'm the age that I am && the height that I am, when I finish watching your videos I believe in myself more then I did before

when you're small the best thing you can do to stand out is be the best in terms of technicality: first touches, passes, long balls, shots, receiving the ball under pressure etc. if you have that down even if you're small a team WILL pick you up
I played center back as a 5'6 and wining the ball in the air is about positioning and timing. Size really does not matter until you reach that top level. Work on balance first and do a lot of jump rope daily. Oh and have a mouth guard just in case.

DamnSheniqua I sent them highlights of me from the past 2 years and talked with a scouting person from the team and they liked what they saw
outside backs used to be no nonsense defenders and now they arnt even completly satisfied with an effective wingback!!! They need creativity the game is for sure evolving !

it's actually Charlotte Independence, which are in Matthews, NC. NCFC are in Raleigh.
For everyone asking, he was either at Phoenix Rising, Charlotte Independence or Richmond Kickers. Yes he said in his podcast that he was in Arizona but there are no bonefish grill’s there and it doesn’t get that cold. In Charlotte and Richmond it gets as cold as he says and both have bonefish grill’s. He also talked about it snowing and there was a snow front near North Carolina and Virginia.
I hope he gets a contract at Richmond kickers
i think he might be in charlotte because that bonefish looks like the one in concord mills parking lot

Hey Matt. I’m a junior in high school and this is my first year on varsity. My dream is to play college soccer. I could care less about becoming a pro because I just don’t believe I’m good enough or have the potential to make it to that level. I train at least 4 times a week, working on my technical skills and shooting, dribbling, etc. And I think I have quality training sessions. But when my team plays mini games I never play well. It’s not that I’m nervous or anything cause I’ve known these guys my whole life. I just can’t perform and when I have the ball I fail to deliver a good pass or create a chance or get a good shot on goal. My teammates tell me not to be so hard on myself but if my dream is to play in college I’m definitely not getting there if I can’t perform in games. Personally, I think it’s too late for me. I want to reach my dream but I also want to be realistic with myself. My teammates say I have potential but I don’t think I’m good enough. I’ve heard you say that the difference between an amateur player and a pro is consistency. And I’m definitely not consistent. I try to have a positive attitude but realistically I’ll never reach there. In my two years on JV I only scored 3 goals and assisted 2 times. I’m thinking maybe it’s time to stop living in my head and get into reality and see that it’s time to just work towards something else.
Work on your strengths, if that's physicality then do that, and maybe think about another position such as defender. Lord knows college need more of that. Colleges recruits from Surf Cup or Dallas Cup for Division I, and II. If you can't find your way to those tournaments your next chance is local colleges, of Division II and III. If you want to be a goal scorer, train keepers, your shots will be much more accurate and powerful, and if you pay attention you'll understand the limited movement of goalkeepers.
Might want to sign up for the NCAA now so you can be on their list. Study the schools you are thinking of, because many of those coaches recruit in bulk every 2-3 years. Freshman coming in would want to be in a team filled with JRs. Email coaches asking what they think your best chances are and what they are looking for. This shows a lot of maturity, lacking at the college level for many.
Why go to college as well? First thing is an education not soccer. If you're looking for a scholarship look for those teams that are at the bottom of the table. They keep getting ignored from a lot of players, but have scholarships available as well. Good luck.

Hey man!!! You are a great soccer player!!! With great skills!!! You have to work out if you want to be an offensive or defensive defender, not in the middle, and work that!!! Choose between Dani Alves or Michel Salgado, and make that choice!!! With that work ethic you can become even better!!! Mussamed Salah bloomed when he was 28!!!

Hey Matt just some advice, I have teammates that actually cut the foot part of the soccer socks and just wear trusox with the sleeve of the soccer sock on with shin guards.

I play with some guys who have had the opportunities to play in Europe. Anytime I make up my mind to play with them, I demean my self esteem because they always see themselves to be "top players" and they make fun of me anytime I make mistakes, instead of encouraging me. They are the only people I can play with in my vicinity. I feel like giving up my dream. I'm just hard on myself now.
Just keep working hard. If they make fun of you it's means there scared if your potential and even if it's mean spirited criticism it still can help you. Best of luck man.

Does coffee dehydrate you? and how do you work on touches into space in the final thrid?
Check your shoulder before you receive the ball. But also check away from the defender to create the space for your first touch. If you want to receive the ball short, check away to drag the defender away from the ball and then check back short with a burst of acceleration. If you want to receive the ball long, do the same thing but reversed.
Coffee is fine... I want you to know that I'm Italian and we might have different ideas on what a coffee looks like... If you mean an espresso (which is really small and strong) is really good, especially if you get it without sugar. If you mean big cups of coffee like the starbucks' ones then I would say to you to stay away from them

Hamzah Because they contain more sugar, milk and stuff like that. With espresso you get only the thing that matter, the pure coffee. Everything more than that is not needed. Ofc the big coffees might taste better.
