It always amazes me how DJ wasn’t more popular in the UFC. He’s probably got the best all round skill set of all time, he’s very smart, articulate, funny, he’s a nice guy, respectful and is super exciting to watch. WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR?!

It's tough, while he's skilled he made the opponents look like they didn't belong. So rather then the best in the world it felt more like a big fish in a small pond. He didn't take out any big names because half his opponents he beat before they had 3 fights in the division. Nunes is headed the same way but at least she built off some other people's name but now who?

DJ is probably the closest thing we’ve seen to “be like water, be formless” since Bruce Lee. From his movement, his transitions, to his mixing of the disciplines is so perfect and seamless.

Yeah cause of weight cutting rules, DJ is fighting at 135 now. Though to be honest, Moraes seems like he would be in a higher weight class.

ONE championship has a better competition for him. These guys are world class on the ground, even though DJ is controlling them he is not dishing out any punishment. On the feet these are slightly better than DJ hence he goes to the ground all the time

@@Eisenarsch thats the point do i like that they traded who in my opinion is most skilled and most complete fighter this world has seen for Askren? No i dont but for ufc it made sense since most of the mma fans belong in casual fanbase and they cant recognize skills nor do they give credit (DJ himself is the proof), what ufc got from this trade is Masvidal as a new money making star and they also proved that ufc is above other organizations since Askren dominated in ONE/Belattor and when he came to the ufc he went 1-2 while almost losing that one win he has and having a controversial stoppage plus he also made ufc more money with his couple of fights than DJ did, its a sad truth but thats how business side of things work

Dana didn't know what he had and who he had in DJ. Mighty Mouse was always a class act every time he stepped inside the octagon but his skill set wasn't appreciated. He is slick and fluid in his attack and cerebral in his finishes. I followed him from the UFC to One just to feast on his artistry.

...I know, makes you wonder about their weight cutting policy. It’s different at ONE than everywhere else, they do hydration testing leading up to the weigh ins , so people are not supposed to be able to cut a lot of weight, they need to keep certain water levels in their body.
ONE even moved all their weight classes up by 10 lbs or so
But as you said, it seems that for all the UFC fighters that come over, the guys they fight look much bigger
