Great video! I love the Genesis in that phase III livery. Has such a cool aggressive look from the front end.
Lived in Albany for 20+ years, Used the Empire Line for occassional business trips to NYC. Great rides. Thanks for the memories.
Nice, anytime!
I wish Amtrak Downeasters went 110MPH, it would be amazing.
Much Appreciation coming from Niagara Falls NY!
Amazing! I hope more Amtrak routes reach 110 mph in the future
Awesome video!! I love when amtrak train goes in 110mph!
Thanks man.
Looking Good!!!
They sure were flying. Great video!
Thanks!
Many years ago I talked to Porter Jesse Buck who said that steam trains in the 1930s went 110 MPH on the stretch west of Kalamazoo according to a gauge in the club car. Speed is more a function of track condition than equipment.
Yes, I agree. The New York Central used to run 100+ MPH back in the 1930’s.

These trains were really going super fast. Great video.
Thanks!!
They just need to catch up to Europe and Asia
Nice Catches! If only they ran this fast in my area.
Thanks 👍
pro tip: watch series on Flixzone. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Maximiliano Rey yup, been using Flixzone} for since november myself =)
@Maximiliano Rey Definitely, I've been using Flixzone} for years myself =)
Yea nice catch catching heritage units
down here in SoFL they haven't been like this since the 80s and early to mid 90s from what I remember. Plus horn restrictions
Awesome Video! Love fast Amtrak Trains!
Thanks!!
It good they don't have stupid horn restrictions otherwise a lot of people would be mowed down. Everyone distracted with their phones today.
That's Right!! Many people just don't realize that there's a time to be on the phone and a time to watch the road!
Incredible how they show up out of nowhere.
They blow their horn constantly, so a train can't come out of nowhere, really imo.
Pretty cool. Thanks!!
They have some good sounding horns too
Are they also K5LAs?
Speed to burn, baby! And it sounds like the engines are in idle....Yeah, right!!
Cool
Love to see one of the train pulled by Siemen Charger Locomotive.
Great video and horn sound
Thanks 👍
Amtrak / Staats Island just installed a new pole-mounted CCTV crossing monitoring camera this week. Nice shots!
Ha, my ex lived on Staats island and we used to have to go up that stretch of tracks to get to town when it rained a lot.
@@MeganPerry I used to live across the street from Staats Island Road on route 9j years ago, not sure what you mean by having to use that road when it rained? I'm not sure anybody lived back there to be honest.
this is how the trains between WDC and Richmond VA should be running its the south end of the NEC
Good Footage.
Epic video! Where did you take these shots?
Awesome vids
Thought of them hitting something…
the quality of your camera is GREAT !!!!!!!
Fast trains at last in the Midwest @
I wonder what the view is from the inside!? Just a blur?
Nice video
Thanks!
Every Train goes fast is 110 mph at staats Island road I saw the three trains and they’re all fast at that road
And the last train is your end clip from “Best train catches 2020”
ill prob never see i train go this fast plus why dont they use amfleet cabcars
Thanks for taking your time to watch the videos. New content will be coming out within the next week.
They don't fit under the bridges or in the stations in this area
@@westwasbest What? Amfleet cab cars are lower than any of the diesels. The reason they don't run cab cars on this line is their isn't any need for them. The trains are easily turned in NYC and Albany. Using cab cars is added maintenance you don't need.
@@westwasbest amfleets can’t fit under bridges?
It’s because there’s no such thing as an amfleet cabcar
How do they make a dime with only 5 cars
Each have over 20 seats. So every one of those 5 cars, has over 20 seats in them. Amfleets are very long railcars. If you look straight at it from the side
@@virginiatrains7886 over 20? 🤣🤣🤣 Yeah how about over 80!
What kind of equipment are you using to video record?
I'm filming with my Samsung phone, and the Pictures are taken by the Cannon T6
What camera do you use?
0:23, where’d you get that transitions from?
Those locos could pull a much longer rake. Is it due to lack of passenger numbers, disinterest in rail travel?
Probably both and added lack of funding, I’m so station layouts probably are part of it in some areas as well
5 or 6 Amfleets is about the maximum that one P32 can pull and still keep an Empire Sercice schedule. Longer than that and you start having trouble accelerating to and maintaining 110 mph. The Lake Shore Limited runs at about 7-8 cars, and with one unit it usually struggles to get past 95 mph.
@@amtrak706 Ok, interesting. Thank you.
How do you know how fast the trains are going?
I can tell just by looking at them mainly, but also I know what the track speeds are as well.
I don’t know the exact statistics as to the number killed while crossing railroad tracks. But come on people, just how lazy does one have to be not first look both ways before starting across any tracks!!
And to see some videos of people actually going around stop arms. Then to read later that their loved ones sued the railroad .claiming they,(the railroad)were negligent. Even though, the lights were flashing. Or at the very least, the train was blaring its horn repeatedly.
Regardless of whether or not there were crossing arms and warning lights, one still must look both ways before crossing.
So, what's the fastests the diesel-powered train in the US can go?
Location???
Greetings from Romania...
What is the maximum speed on the best track these trains can attain ?
He proceed to like and heart your comment without responding…
These engines can attain a speed of 110 mph, and they're hitting that in this video
Soon these will be replaced with Siemens Chargers SC-44 which can hit a top speed of 125 MPH. Track limits on these sections will stay at 110 MPH though (fastest currently allowed at grade crossings).
@@Ven100 While there are no plans to increase speeds above 110 MPH on this line, you can have grade crossing above 110 MPH. The FRA allows grade crossings all the way up to the speed of 125 MPH so long as you have an impenetrable barrier in place. Like the rising concrete blocks they use in Europe or metal nets that lower down. If Amtrak wanted to raise the speed above 110 they could with such mods. But the cost vs time saved is simply not worth it.
@@Ven100, wrong ALC-42 are replacing them
So cute. 110mph.
110 mph? Now did you actually measure that with some sort of electronic device? Or was that just from hearsay/Amtrak claims? I'd say maybe 80-85 tops for all of them. If that.
Track speed there is 110mph
We'll just take your word for it then....
@@Ven100 Amtrak's Track a Train web page gives speed and schedule performance. You can see on certain portions of Michigan routes they reach 110 mph. Usually about a 5 minute delay in updates on the web page.
I'm not convinced this was 110mph
They were doing 110mph with the exception of Amtrak 284 which was doing 90mph
@@amtrakempirerailfan5715 well how did you know?

100, I don’t think so, maybe 80
Track speed where I was is rated for 110mph, the second train might have been going 90mph.

This is slow compared to ACELA my son is a engineer 180 mph +
ACELAs top speed in service is 150mph……..and most of the time it operates under 135mph so try again.
USA: home of the world's slowest high speed train!
Security goons frequently harass me for taking pictures, but I tell them if my intent was to sabotage passenger rail , all I have to do is vote Republican.
ahhh yes, because the #1 goal of republicans are to "sabotage passenger rail"........ makes sense
